Subtle Audio: A Decade In Breakbeat CD

In May 2015, Subtle Audio notched up a decade in drum & bass. A little over a year later, they've decided to mark this milestone with an anniversary compilation that draws together previously unheard tracks from long-time label artists and a handful of new artists. Regular listeners will feel right at home from the start, as Nic TVG layers woozy electronics and gently throbbing sub-bass atop a loose, snare-heavy jungle groove. This nod to D&B's early days is a constant feature throughout, with Speak, Ornette Hawkins, Enjoy (whose bombastic "The Crook VIP" is an obvious highlight), Relapse and Mecca all delivering ear-pleasing tracks built around classic jungle rhythms.
