Berliner Frank Timm brought us the second release in the Sound Sampler series, showcasing his work under the Soundstream, Soundhack and T.S.O.S. monikers. The A-side opens with Soulhack's remix of Auto-Repeats' "Auto Disco", featuring an undulating bassline beneath rough textures teetering on the edge of collapse. The kick drum hammers through a raw acid line distorted beyond recognition, while the female vocal intermittently tries to escape the overwhelming wall of sound. Soundstream's "Disco Crash", on the flip, adds a polished touch to the release, delivering a shoulder twitching bass line, crashing textures and flickering guitar licks that can't fail to make a crowd move. As always with Mr Timm, this is essential.
