Dave Jones has always been one of UK bass music's innovators, variously flitting between two-step, four-four garage, broken beat and twisted experimentalism. There are plenty of similarly impressive musical shifts on Jones' first Zed Bias full-length since 2007, an all-star bash that features as many big name collaborators as it does musical surprises. So, we get Toddla T lending a hand on the mutant P-funk jam "Koolade", Mark Pritchard dropping by to bust some tropical-rave steps on "Trouble In The Streets" and Skream wobbling it out on the Maddslinky-ish "Badness". Best of all, though, is the Falty DL hook-up "Lucid Dreams", a deliciously addictive and forward-thinking meeting of minds. Impressive stuff... as usual.
