Deep House
Night Passage (Underground radio mix) (6:06)
Fast City (4:55)
Night Passage (Magic club mix) (5:14)
Night Passage (Bongo mix) (5:09)
Review: While they may have mined many of their classic early releases, it's taken until now for the resurgent Vibraphone crew to return to their very first offering form way back in 1992. 49th Floor was a pseudonym of Stefano Curti, one of the mainstays of the label, and Night Passage was the classic record that started it all off. The whole EP has been given the remastering treatment and sounds fresher than ever, with "Fast City" in particular shining bright with its urgent swing, luscious bassline and sprightly keys. This is house music in its purest form, often imitated but never replicated.

Night Passage (Magic club mix) (5:12)
Night Passage (Bongo mix) (5:09)
Review: The reissue of Night Passage by 49th Floor on Vibraphone Records is a testament to the label's commitment to quality deep house music. Originally released in 1992 as an Italian ambient house track, 'Night Passage' has been resurrected with identical tracklist as the original, which should delight fans. The Underground Radio Mix kicks off the release with its deep house rhythm and nostalgic piano melodies, capturing the essence of the original while infusing it with a contemporary groove. 'Fast City' adds a nice touch of Balearic flair to the EP, offering a deeper and more atmospheric vibe. On the flip side, the Magic Club Mix of 'Night Passage' elevates the track to peak-time dancefloor status with its infectious energy and pulsating beats. Finally, the Bongo Mix brings a percussive twist to the proceedings, injecting an extra layer of groove into the mix. Overall, 'Night Passage', is a great example at the ideal style of music that blossoming on the underground that perfectly fit the scenery in the Mediterranean.

Review: 49th Floor is a pseudonym for Stefano Curti from The True Underground Sound of Rome, originally applied to a sole 1992 release Night Passage. Vibraphone always do a fine job of folding time in on itself from these glory days of Italo house up to the present day, and so it feels natural for a new 49th Floor 12" to arrive despite more than 30 years since the last one. 'Zamani' comes on four different versions which give plenty of options to deep diving DJs, from the full-spectrum, pad-soaked propulsion of the 'Body Mix' to the raw acid throwdown of the 'Magic K Dub Remix', a straight up dreamy 'Deep Mix' and swirling, splashy 'Dub Mix'. The quality never dips, whichever twist in the tale you opt for.

Review: For the first time VIBRAPHONE RECORDS is releasing a record by an artist other than THE TRUE UNDERGROUND SOUND OF ROME. For such an exclusive event there could have not been a better choice than Italian DJ/PRODUCER, Nick Anthony SIMONCINO. For the production of this record, ISOLE DEL TRAMONTO (Sunset Islands) Simoncino uses a selection of strictly old school analog synthesizers, and drum machines, which takes you on a charming magical journey through the Mediterranean Sea with pulsating minimal deep bass lines, oneiric harmonic textures, exotic tom tom patterns, hypnotic sexy and catchy grove beats. ISOLE DEL TRAMONTO is a record that connects and combines the essential elements and spirit of deep house music along with providing its visionary future...

Viento Lunar (5:43)
Endles Clouds (6:29)
Review: Vibraphone Records kicks off its New Year with a mighty first release that pays great tribute to the city of Detroit. Basic Realities is the artist behind the originals and the first is 'B-9', a percussive, loopy tech roller with vocal sounds and dreamy pads drifting in and out of focus. Motor City icon Kevin Sanderson then steps up to remix and does so with more warm and surging basslines and thudding drum funk. 'Viento Lunar' then cuts loose on some inventive melodies and cosmic rays of energy that unfold over tinny beats and 'Endles Clouds' rounds out with some more dusty drums and nice spangled synths that surge through the cosmos.

Review: Chicago based producer Tai Davis first came to light earlier this year with the Made In Chicago 12" on Dizzy Tunes, and now he follows that up with an EP on the ever productive Vibraphone. As the title No Computers Necessary would suggest, this is classically-rooted house music with all the charm the hardware process provides. Davis' productions are bright, melodic creations with rock solid grooves and strong hooks for all kinds of good times, with B2 track "Floating" standing out with its strafing acid line punching out into a decidedly ethereal soundscape.

Review: A reissue here of the first release on Rome-based, underground dance label Vibraphone Records by prolific producer S. Di Carlo with M. Ruvolo - the latter renowned for his forays into trance music. A 1992 production, the Memories From The future EP truly captures the zeitgeist of the nascent deep house sounds emerging at the time. Features a 202K remix of the celestial 'Magic Staircase', as well as the evocative and soulful 'Alien Landscape' with its thundering drum patterns and the late night mood music of 'Invisible Light.

Solar Storm
Review: Ensuring they keep things pushing forwards while also celebrating their past, Vibraphone call upon rising talent Gemil to deliver an EP that is purely fresh material. "Forces & Gravity" is perfectly honed to get the maximum response from the dance with its muscular production and catchy vocal sample, but if you want an even more focused affair the remix strips things down to the bare necessities and works just as effectively. On the B side "Horizon" gets a touch more playful in its synth work with interplaying riffs creating a dazzling whole, and then "Solar Storm" brings the heads-down, hard-swinging heaviness into the mix in a devastating finishing blow.

Review: The journey back into the vaults of seminal Italian house music label Vibraphone Records continues apace with this gem from 1993. K2 was a one-off project for central label figures The True Underground Sound of Rome, and this Loss Of Gravity 12" represents one of the most sought after rarities from the Vibraphone catalogue. The on-point breakbeats of "The Journey", the wistful tones of "In My Garden", the plush ambient refrains of "Lirica" - every inch of this record is steeped in class that belies the age of the music. Need we say more - this is a buy on sight reissue that won't stick around for long.

Beatiful Eyes (6:45)
Drink For Peace (6:45)
Devotion D (6:40)
Review: The legacy of Vibraphone's second wave continues to represent the best of classic Italian house, as long-time producer Joy Kitikonti joins up with Vibraphone main man Stefano Di Carlo to present this EP of impeccable grooves made the good old fashioned way. "Beautiful Eyes" takes the romantic, Ibizan approach to trancey house with its hands-aloft lead lines, while "Drink For Peace" brings a bit more jacking attitude to the table. "Devotion D" perhaps speaks to the more classic Vibraphone sound with its heads down chords and throbbing bassline, capturing that 90s vibe in fine style.

Half Life
SIN (club mix)
Review: KNLB first appeared with the Initialize 12" on Vibraphone in July of this year, and it's not taken them long to return with another slab of on-point, upfront house music loaded with flair and imagination. "Up Again" is a heavy, chugging and bumping jam that should inspire all manner of screwed up faces of appreciation on the floor, and then "Fog Machine Smell" simmers things down to a more measured house groove. "Half Life" brings a few more dubby elements into the mix, and then the club mix of "SIN" sends the record spinning off in a wonderfully dusty reverie of detuned pianos and late-hitting drums.

Initialize (Minimono remix) (7:02)
Review: REPRESS ALERT: Italian house bastion Vibraphone Records has more than proven itself in the realms of classic deep house, but this new release from KNLB certainly speaks to the new age of the label. The unknown producer makes a stunning entry with "Second Wind", an effervescent breakbeat number that harks back to classic 90s Mo Wax sounds with its resonating piano licks and gritty drum samples. "Apollo" meanwhile creates an interesting variation on the dub techno template with a wealth of instrumentation cavorting around a tripped out chord stab, and then "Initialize" drifts off into blissful deep house meditation atop a purposeful beat. Minimono swoop in to inject some direct funk into their remix of "Intialize", and a very fine job they do of it too.

Hold On To Love (6:31)

Feelin Blue (7:56)
Fallen Star (7:32)
Review: Having recently appeared on Bosconi Records and Altzmusica, Daisuke Kondo is a producer on the rise at present. This outing on Vibraphone adds fuel to that particular fire with four distinctive cuts that push to the outer edges of house music without losing sight of the groove. "Hold On To Love" is, on the surface, an upbeat, disco-infused house jam, but there's a certain trippy approach Kondo takes in the processing department that edges the music into a different head space. "Life" meanwhile gets gritty and bass heavy at one end of the frequency range, and airy and melodic at the other. "Feelin Blue" gets even dustier and scratchier with its sample treatment, and then "Fallen Star" lays down some unflinching machine beats with wonky, distant piano licks.

Magic Staircase (4:30)

Night Of Love (4:53)
Review: First released way back in 1992, Stefano Curti, Mauro Tamino and Stefano De Carlo's first 12" as Minimal Vision (they'd previously released numerous as The True Underground Sound of Rome) remains one of the classiest and most ear-pleasing Italian deep house records of all time. For proof, check 'Magic Staircase', where picturesque synthesizer melodies rise and fall atop skittish beats, 'Pacific' style chords and a chunky Korg M1 bassline, and the bleep-sporting Chicago deep house tribute 'Prelude'. Those searching for something a little more energetic should take a listen to the warm and beautiful 'Milky Way' and 'Night of Love', whose programmed percussion, fizzing synth solos and jaunty bassline doff a cap to Detroit tech-jazz.

Review: Two years ago, the rebooted Vibraphone Records imprint reissued Minimal Vision's sought-after, self-titled 1992 debut. If anything, the Italian outfit's six-track 1993 follow-up - imaginatively titled 'Minimal Vision II' - is even more highly valued by deep house diggers and record collectors. This remastered reissue is, then, long overdue. It remains a fantastic mini-album, with highlights including the chunky, early progressive house-influenced hypnotism of 'Sea Bird', the acid-flecked futurism of 'Vertigo', the tribal-tinged early morning moodiness of 'C119' and the tough Roman techno of 'Repetition'. Best of all, though, is the deep house-goes-tribal headiness of bleep-sporting closing cut 'Ritual'. Simply essential.

Review: Few can fail to have noticed the re-emergence of Italian deep house in recent times. Tracks paying tribute to the dreamy, loved-up and new age-influenced style pioneered by Italian producers in the late '80s and early '90s are ten-a-penny these days, though few are quite as breezy and evocative as this EP from Minimono. The fact that it's appearing on re-born Rome label Vibraphone - dormant since 1993, but brought back to life late last year - is rather fitting. The duo's dreamy, melodious and tactile style - see the fluttering synthesized flute lines and tactile grooves of "Sailing", the horizontal house bliss of "Suspend", and the Ron Trent style slickness of "Next Step" - is perfectly in keeping with the label's wavy, sun-kissed ethos.

Review: After first appearing on the label back in 2016, Florence-based Italo house stalwarts Minimono return to Vibraphone with another selection of illustrious dancefloor gems for subtler moments in the dance. "Oldest Friend" is an airy, dreamlike track laden with upper register chords, tones and FX pinging around in a reverie of deep house delight, while "Questions" gets locked into a loose, swinging groove with some mysterious pads swirling around the middle distance for added atmosphere. "Some Day" is a more rugged affair that bumps and wriggles in all the right places, while "Eleven Days" explores broken beat territory without losing the hazy atmosphere that permeates the EP.

Review: Having previously appeared alongside Tommi Vicari Jr on a 12" last year, Opto Mystics strike out on their own with this 12" for Italian powerhouse Vibraphone. New Horizon very much represents the new school approach with the long serving Italian house label, keeping that deep, melodic quality but embracing new rhythms, tones and approaches. "New Horizon" almost has an Akufen quality to it, while "Bucky Triangle" could easily transmit from the Motor City house scene. "M.I.Y.E." is a swirling blur of gorgeous synths, and "Suddent" finishes the EP off on a surprisingly experimental tip.

Review: It feels like this reissue on the mighty Vibraphone has been a long time coming. While the Italian deep house bastion seemed to be focusing more on contemporary releases, they kept this gem from their back catalogue in their back pocket and now its time has come. Ricardo's "High Flyer" is a stone-cold deep house stunner, whichever version you plump for. The swooning pads and sweet organ lines are great on the original version, but for us the "Angel Mix" pips it with the edges smoothed out for a pure escapist strain of deep house truly sent from the heavens.

Review: Don't be confused; Silicon Minds aren't channelling hate into their music, even though a title like 'IHY' would almost certainly suggest as much to netizens well-clued in on their acronyms. Rather, here 'IHY' stands for 'Interstellar Hypnotic Yama-Biko', and given our coincidental encyclopaedic knowledge of Japanese folklore (a Yamabiko is an elusive mountain or canyon deity), we now know everything we need to know about this new EP from one of the many spiritual alias-essences of the house music collective Vibraphone. With a legit original version as well as a stellar remix from Derrick May, which fleshes out that legitness twofold, prepare to join the Yamabeko on a melodic-analogous house journey; through music, its Cheshire smile evinces deep concern for the sublime forests, mountainscapes and other natural formations we've neglected.

Review: Vibraphone Records continues to deepen its contemporary repertoire by inviting Andrew Soul into the fold with a vocal contribution from house music legend Robert Owens. "Slipping Into Darkness" is a beautifully rendered deep house gem with expressive piano work, rubbery bass synth tones, but in some ways the minimalism of Vincent Floyd's remix gives Owens' vocals a chance to take centre stage. "As You Are" is a crooked, broken beat exploration on the fringes of deep house, and Owens' voice sounds resplendent in the more experimental surroundings before Nick Anthony Simoncino comes on board with a 90s flavoured, darkside remix of the highest order.

The mood is instantly dreamy on "Cyclops", while "Vertigo" gets more than a little psychedelic, dare we say New Age-y. This tone rings true throughout the record, pulling together more sought after gems and previously unreleased delights from the catalogue of this vitally influential Italian house music force. Just try listening to "Once Upon A Time In Labaro" without being transported to another time and place, all proto-trance synth pulses and Blade Runner samples.
