A Sides Vol 6 Part 4
Luca Agnelli - "Hypericum" (7:39)
Arjum Vagale - "Liquid" (6:00)
Vinicius Honorio - "Diamond Dust" (7:18)
Luigi Madonna & Roberto Capuano - "Limitless" (6:46)
Review: More big guns for the main room (at peak time!) courtesy of tried and tested experts Drumcode - and they sure aren't messing around on part four of the sixth instalment of their A sides series. Tuscany's Luca Agnelli serves up the pummelling and furious DJ tool "Hypericum" while India's finest techno export Arjun Vagale continues to make waves with his dynamic sound and "Liquid" is no exception, as it electrifies your senses with rapid fire rhythms and mental synth sequences. On the flip, London's Vinicius Honorio serves up the tunneling and hypnotic journey that is "Diamond Dust" which has the potential to appeal to a wide cross section of techno DJs and their respective styles - loved the mesmerising Jeff Mills style chime melody on this one. Finally, two of the label's staples team up for what you could only expect as massive: Neapolitans Luigi Madonna & Roberto Capuano with the slinky late night tech house of "Limitless".

Lift Me Up
Lift Me Up (1-sided 12")
Cat: DC 311. Rel: 22 Oct 24
Lift Me Up (feat Kyozo) (5:54)
Review: Adam Beyer shares his first collaboration with Vintage Culture, 'Lift Me Up' featuring Kyozo. A suspenseful covenant formed between three huge-room techno striators, 'Lift Me Up' was born from a fruitful back-and-forth shared on the road to Sonus Festival in Croatia. Packing a clenched sawtooth lead - one that hardly requires the development that the track nonetheless indulges by way of tuned impacts and chord transitions - this one ends up a dramatic build, as a vaunted vocal lines abjures us to "lift me up", as we listeners end up, paradoxically, the ones uplifted.

Consciousness (8:42)
Music Takes You (7:11)
Silk (7:12)
Review: Unbelievably, Drumcode Records celebrates its 25th year in business in 2021. Adam Beyer's popular imprint has already delivered a swathe of must-check releases this year, and this collaborative outing from Pig & Dan and Victor Ruiz is another that label fans would do well to take note of. A-side 'Consciousness' is particularly potent, with the trio adding gnarly, mind-melting, dark room-ready riffs to a throbbing, trance-inducing techno groove. If tech-trance/neo-trance isn't your thing, turn to the flip. They're you'll find the moody and stomping big room techno of 'Music Takes You' - all doom-laden stabs and kick-drum driven heaviness - and the more melodious, colourful and rushing peak-time bliss of 'Silk', whose lengthy breakdowns are likely to send shivers down the spines of suitably refreshed dancers.

A Sides Vol 10 Vinyl Three Of Five
Cat: DC 2353. Rel: 09 Mar 21
Victor Ruiz - "Love Story" (7:44)
Ilija Djokovic - "Equilibrium" (6:33)
Veerus - "I Know" (6:59)
Review: Adam Beyer's esteemed Drumcode imprint continues on with the ever reliable A Sides series, and we're now up to Vol 10 - the third of a five part vinyl series. The first side belongs to Victor Ruiz's expression in peak time dancefloor drama called 'Love Story' where a breathtaking female vocals plays centre stage alongside a snarling Reese bassline and typically tough as nails techno rhythms. On the flip, more warehouse style aesthetics await on Ilija Djokovic's adrenalised 'Equilibrium' which will no doubt have the punters trancing out under the strobe light, as well as Veerus' euphoric main room offering 'I Know' closing out an impressive package.

A Sides Vol 9 Vinyl Two Of Four
Thomas Schumacher & Victor Ruiz - "Intuit" (7:52)
Anfisa Letyago - "Are U In" (6:48)
Loco & Jam - "Addicted" (7:26)
Review: Drumcode are back with another edition of its A side series - look out! You can bet it's packed full of reliable peak time weaponry for the main room, so handle with extreme caution. First up is the legend from Bremen Thomas Schumacher, teaming up with his ascendant homeboy Victor Ruiz on "Intuit" - a massive and barrelling thriller that will tunnel you into submission. On the flip, we have two more epics that are sure to cause some drama on the dancefloor: there's the seething and adrenalised paranoia of Neapolitan up-and-comer Anfisa Letyago's "Are U In", followed by Irish power duo Loco & Jam who hammer the message home with the thunderous, tom-heavy chug of "Addicted".

Cat: DC 1952. Rel: 28 Nov 18
Thomas Schumacher - "The Unseen" (6:18)
Victor Ruiz - "Pulso" (6:52)
B Traits - "I Feel The Music" (6:47)
Review: The seventh volume of Drumcode's annual A-Sides compilation hits with no less than 10 debuts for the label, with topline artists releasing their maiden productions on the imprint. Over two decades into its lifespan, Adam Beyer's label keeps evolving and excelling, pushing techno forward while remaining wholly respectful of its roots. On this volume, German techno legend Thomas Schumacher delivers one of his best tracks in a while on the brooding peak time onslaught "The Unseen" which brings the distinct sound of Bremen in to 2018. Ascendant Brazilian DJ Victor Ruiz impresses as always with the melodic and hypnotic "Pulso", before former Radio 1 host B.Traits closes with the chugging factory floor stomp of "I Feel The Music".

It's Funky (6:07)
Review: Adam Beyer's Drumcode label is very nearly at its 300th release, which is a fine achievement by anyone's standards. Here he taps up Veerus for more of the Swedish imprints signature main room techno tackle and he doesn't fall short. 'Cycle' is full of the sort of drama you expect from this label - flat, driving drums, synths fired from a machine gun, strobe lit pads and frazzled textures to make for exciting and impactful experiences. 'It's Funky' on the flip is another big one with thunderous clasp and drums all sweeping dancers off their feet.

Veerus - "Lights On Me" (8:03)
Ramiro Lopez - "Yo Mas" (6:37)
Anna Reusch - "Deeper" (7:20)
Review: Drumcode's A Sides series has been a great source of contemporary techno potency and there is no signs of it slowing down yet. This is the second part of the 11th volume and it has three fresh names. Veerus opens up with 'Lights On Me' which is a dark tune with a tense energy and celestial chords keeping you in suspense. Ramiro Lopez then offers the more loopy and hypnotic 'Yo Mas' with its hooky vocals bring an exotic feel. Anna Reusch shuts down with a flat footed stomper that will get your jaws clenched on 'Deeper.'
