Notes: The DigiTech FreqOut Natural Feedback Creator allows you to get sweet, natural feedback at any volume, with or without distortion. The FreqOut is perfect for situations where volume must be controlled like in the studio, with in ear monitors, or low-volume performance and practice. However, the FreqOut can also be used at gig volume to focus out-of-control feedback on a preferred harmonic at any stage position. The FreqOut uses a 9VDC power supply to easily integrate into your existing pedalboard.

Global Controls


Space Knob: Space adds a delightfully charming reverb to your affected signal. Use this knob to modify the mix and decay of the reverb. Go from smaller room sounds to a huge, diffused ambient reverb at maximum settings. It's lush and complimentary, and adding it in with the other effects will put you squarely in dreamscape territory.


Tone Knob: The Tone parameter controls the cutoff of a synth-style resonant low pass filter, allowing you to shape the tone of the effect output.


Series and Parallel: In series, effects will feed into each other in the order of Chorus > Delay > Grain > Output.


In parallel, all of the effect outputs on Chorus, Delay, and Grain are summed together and do not feed into each other. The top row of knobs will act as level controls, and the user can control the level of each effect.


The Mix/Dry parameter controls the mix of wet and dry signal in series mode and dry level in parallel mode.

Grain Controls


The featured Grain effect features two 'flavours' of operation:


Grain Cloud: This mode triggers small samples (grains) randomly from your playing, which gives you unpredictable, yet charming glitchy texture for your sound. The X knob controls the length of time between grains, so you can go from dense clusters to sparse accents.


Phrase Sample: This mode triggers grains rhythmically from your playing. Initial peaks in your playing are detected and grains are played back starting at these peaks, creating a rhythmic and intentional effect. The X knob controls the tempo at which the samples will be played back. Turning the X knob to the minimum position will sync the Phrase Sample time to the Delay time so that repeated grains are in time with the Delay repeats.


The Grain effect also features 5 playback modes that dictate different ways the grain samples are projected.


x1: Normal
x2: Double-speed and +1 octave
x.5: Half-speed and -1 octave
REV: Reverse playback
RNDM: Randomized combination of the previous four modes.


Delay Controls

The delay effect is a full, clean digital delay that offers repeats for up to two seconds. Use the time knob to control the time between delays as well as the feedback knob to control the amount of delays. The TAP/OSC switch on the bottom right of the pedal can also be used to control the delay effect via tap tempo, or when held down will ramp up the feedback and cause the delay to oscillate.

Subdivisions

Delay trails can be projected in three subdivision modes:

Chorus Controls

The Chorus effect offers two modes:
Tri Chorus: A multi-dimensional chorus favourite. Lush, complex, modulated sounds combining three voices for a full, vibrant sound.

Stereo Chorus: This mode is a classic chorus effect but with the modulation of the chorus being offset 180 degrees to the right channel to achieve the stereo width effect.

Each Fundamental pedal has three faders for tweaking the sound and a three-way switch for changing pedal modes. Because vast ambient sounds shouldn't just be for larger pedals with vast price points, the Fundamental Ambient brings expansive pillowy reverb to the Fundamental Series with three atmospheric modes in a compact size. The Fundamental Ambient offers a great entry point into ambient exploration with the tonal integrity to live on a professional's pedalboard but with simplified controls friendly enough for even the newest effect pedal users. With Ambient's three reverb algorithms, you can experiment with deep, dark pad-like sounds to AM Radio-like lo-fi sounds with the flip of a switch.

The Fundamental Ambient provides three different atmospheric reverb algorithms to explore beautifully vast and lush soundscapes with plenty of decay time for pillowy soft pad-like decay.

Modes:

Deep - A dark ambient reverb with an added low octave, perfect for creating murky, cavernous sustain or adding a touch of moody atmosphere.
Lush - A breathy, expansive reverb featuring ultra-long sustain. Perfect for generating silky pads and immersive soundscapes with every note.
Haze - A textured, lo-fi reverb featuring distortion, sample rate reduction, and a resonant bandpass tone control, great for vintage or experimental tones.
Decay: Control the amount of reverb decay time. Left is the minimum and right is the maximum amount of time.
Tone: Shapes the overall tonality of the reverb. On Deep and Lush this controls the cutoff of a synth-style lowpass filter. On Haze this controls the width of a resonant bandpass filter, filtering both high and low end at the right, and allowing more high and low to pass through at the left.
Mix: Control the mix of the effect and the original clean signal. All the way to the left outputs only the fully clean signal, and all the way to the right outputs only the affected Reverb signal.
Slide Switch - The slide switch allows you to change between three distinct Reverb algorithms.

Trails Mode - The Fundamental Ambient Reverb comes with trails mode active by default, to disengage trails mode hold down the bypass stomp switch when applying power to the pedal. Once the LED flashes it indicates that trails mode is turned off. To re-engage trails mode, repeat the process, and wait for the LED to turn dark, indicating that trails mode is back on. With trails mode active, your reverb decay will fade off naturally after turning the pedal off. With trails mode inactive, the decay abruptly cuts off when you turn off the pedal.

Notes: When Empress released the original Compressor back in 2011, it quickly became a favourite among guitar and bass players alike who were searching for something more than the typical oversimplified controls found on most compressor pedals. Although our original Compressor sounded great on bass (and still does!) we set out to do even better.

On top of the full range of features and controls normally only seen in high end studio equipment, such as input and gain reduction metering, independent attack and release controls, a mix knob for parallel compression, and an external sidechain insert, we've now added a fully variable sidechain high pass filter, and a two position 'tone + colour' circuit which adds gentle tone sculpting and harmonic distortion, giving your bass some delicious character.

PLUS 3 is designed for musicians who prefer compact desktop control of features accessible via the sustain and expression jacks of their instruments, as opposed to using their feet or bulky sustain and expression pedals on their desk.

PLUS 3 includes a high-quality fader for expressive performance and automation, a momentary sustain key, and an innovative "drone mode" toggle switch, which lets you free your hands and hold notes indefinitely. In drone mode, the momentary key's functionality changes, to let you swap droned notes with new ones.

PLUS 3 is totally passive, meaning it doesn't require any power to work. It's made of aluminium, so it's sturdy, light, and portable. Its sustain key is based on standard mechanical keyboard-style keys, so you can customize it and swap the key out to make the pedal your own with your key of choice.

Capabilities PLUS 3's sustain side unlocks for instruments with a sustain jack, subject to the instruments capabilities are among other:

A momentary sustain button for instruments that don't have a dedicated physical sustain control (most don't!)

A dedicated drone/hold/arp latch switch for instruments that don't have one (many don't!). It's important to note that even if an instrument has a hold button, its sustain jack may unlock additional functionality or behaviour (for example, a button that simply holds notes does not cause Piano VSTs to resonate sympathetic strings in the way using sustain does.

Momentary and toggle control of any parameter mappable in your DAW synth's mod matrix/menu system, or effect pedal (for example, sostenuto, a freeze effect, dry/wet bypass, swapping presets, etc)
Capabilities PLUS 3's expression side unlocks for instruments with an expression jack are, among other:

PLUS 3 is particularly useful for adding an expressive physical fader to MIDI controllers that don't already have faders, but have an expression jack (for example, Native Instruments Kontrol MK3, or M32; or Korg's KeyStage).

Use PLUS 3's fader for direct access and expressive control of any single parameter mappable in your DAW, effects pedal or synth in ways not possible with a regular keyboard (for example, bowing a violin, an orchestral swell, fine tuning a track's level in the mix)

COSMOS is a drifting memory station designed to work with meditative states through music. The design of the controls, functions and generated soundscapes are intended to evoke, in both performer and listener, states and experiences inherent in meditation, such as limitless space, fluidity, spontaneous development, presence, the ability to hear, tranquility, the experience of subtle harmony and happiness enveloping the whole world.

From a functional point of view, COSMOS is a large array of sound memory, in which recorded sounds undergo constant recombinations, spontaneously generating an ever-changing soundscape. This is achieved in three ways - by a mathematical shift based on the relationships between large prime numbers (the size of all delay lines are different primes), an asynchronous operation of the LFO, and modulation with a slowly changing chaotic signal. As a result, it allows the endless layering and processing of various sounds, as in a looper, but without an intrusive, repetitive loop.

COSMOS generates rich, fluid and evolving soundscapes perfect for ambient music. The freshly designed EHX Attack Decay reinterprets the classic and keeps its cool factor, but adds some modern features for convenience and enhanced functionality.

It can produce a single volume envelope like the original, or, with Poly engaged, put separate volume envelopes on each note you play. The built-in Harmonix fuzz is now a fully controllable distortion with gain, tone and volume controls. Round Amp - Based on* a Fender Deluxe Reverb

The Deluxe is one of the most recorded amps in history for good reason. This amp is clean, bright, and mid-scooped, with plenty of headroom. At higher Drive settings it delivers an overdriven sound unique to its architecture. Strymon chose the Deluxe's Normal channel for its round tone that plays well with pedals. While preserving access to all the tones originally available with this channel, our model gives you something extra: a midrange control. With the midrange at noon, you get the original fixed-resistor value and standard tonal characteristics of the Deluxe. Turn down the midrange for a more scooped sound, or turn it up for tweed-era tones.

Chime Amp - Based on* the Brilliant channel of a Vox AC30

The amp that defined the guitar sound of the British Invasion. Our model of the AC30 Brilliant channel (Top Boost) is jangly, bright, and chimey, providing air for subtle passages with a light touch, and bite when you want to dig in. For this amp, the Middle knob acts a Tone Cut knob, providing high-end roll-off just before the power tubes, per the original AC30 design. In addition to the full available gain of the original amp, toward the top end of the Drive knob's range of travel, Strymon have added a frequency-shaped front end boost to tighten the low end while driving the amp further into saturation.

Punch Amp - Based on* a Marshall Plexi (Super Lead model number 1959)

This powerful amp is meatier, with higher gain than the other two amps, and has a powerful midrange response. This amp features a buttery, smooth overdrive. At higher Drive settings it will deliver all the high gain distortion and growl this amp is known for, and then some. Setting the Drive control at around 2 o'clock gets you the maximum gain the original Plexi design allowed. Beyond that, our model has some additional gain on tap, giving you access to custom hot-rodded Plexi high gain tones.

Cosmosis 1 is a high-fidelity digital reverb that delivers premium ambient reverb sounds in a streamlined, single-footswitch enclosure. Cosmosis 1 contains three unique Pigtronix space algorithms with onboard controls for the size of the reverb, wet/dry blend, and filtering. Custom-made LED touch switches provide instant color-coded access to three unique reverb spaces as well as three user-defined presets. Theatre (blue) puts the player in a variable room that ranges from cozy to highly reflective using multiple parallel short reverberators. Temple (amber) occupies a dramatic, large indoor space by implementing numerous long reflections in both parallel and series. And Cosmos (purple) creates an enormous spectrum of heavenly reverb derived from the harmonic content it's fed.

Cosmosis 1 also features Pigtronix's signature 'Morph' function that allows musicians to alter their settings in real-time by pressing and holding the footswitch. This feature provides a simple way for players to trigger a gradual change to various reverb parameters simultaneously. Players can set both "red" and "green" values on their Tone, Blend, and Size knobs, then engage the Morph to traverse the difference between these values as indicated by the color-changing Engage LED. Create elegant morphs for subtle movement or sweeping, cinematic morphs for dramatic sound design effects. Stereo functionality is available via the TRS output jack. Cosmosis 1 runs on standard 9VDC power.

Tone: Clockwise from noon, this control applies a high-pass filter, making the reverb sound brighter. Counter-clockwise from noon, this control applies a low-pass filter, making the reverb sound darker.

Size: Sets the size of the reverb space

Preset Select: Push to toggle through 4 pre-loaded presets, press and hold to select. To save a custom preset after making changes, press and hold. Presets can also be toggled and selected using only footswitches (see manual).

Three Evocative Spaces

The three unique space algorithms found inside of Cosmosis are entirely original and comprise a combination of primary source impulse responses, imagined reflections, and inspired mathematics. Theatre is a vintage-inspired small room sound ranging from cozy to reflective; Temple is a rich and flowing larger space featuring long reflections in both parallel and series; and Cosmos makes use of divine inspiration to create an enormous spectrum of harmonically-informed reverb. The stock IRs for the Fullerton, London, and Dartford amp models were custom engineered by David Hislop and Kenyon Reed at Tone Factor, while the stock IRs for the Red, Citrus, and Tread amp models were designed by Justin York at York Audio.

Amplifiers

The ACS1 can mix and match stereo amp and cab combinations. Want to run an AC30-style amp on the left and an Orange-style amp on the right? Or perhaps a 5150 flavoured amp in both channels but with two different cabs for a wider stereo sound? When running the ACS1 in stereo, one amp can be used through both channels, or these combinations can be run independently left and right if you choose, leading to powerful, unique amp tones. Simply press down on the Middle encoder to choose individual settings for L, R, or L+R combined. Amps can be mixed and matched with no phase/polarity issues as well.

Tread: Inspired by the world-famous Mesa Boogier Dual Rectifier with massive amounts of in-your-face gain. Versatile enough to be favoured by guitarists in genres from hard rock, punk, metal, and more, Tread offers up plenty of saturation that's heavy and ready to cut through the mix.

Primary Controls

Volume, gain, and room make up the top three knobs. Volume and gain work together, as gain is increased and made louder, volume can be turned down to compensate.

Room The ACS1 has three different types of reverb effects:

Room - Simulates the size of the room that your amp and cabinet are in. At zero, it would resemble tracking your amp in an isolated environment with no reverb. At max would emulate a natural-sounding, large studio environment.

Hall - Simulates the acoustics of a large, live sound space.

Spring - Simulates spring reverb tanks found in tube amps.

Increase the room size or amount of reverb by adjusting the Room knob. The further clockwise you go, the bigger the room. Decay control can be adjusted for room in the Global Sound menu.

Bass/Mid/Treble EQ

Bass, mid, and treble control are adjustable on the home screen with the use of the encoder knobs. The left knob controls bass, the middle is mids, and the right is treble. This simple EQ control has clear visual feedback and can be used to adjust levels on the L, R, and L+R channels.

Noise Gate

A noise gate can be applied and adjusted within the navigation menu, which can be especially helpful when playing with the high-gain amp models.

Amp EQ

Presence and resonance controls are available within Amp EQ Settings in the menu, giving you even more control of your amp tone.

Bypass IRs or Amps

Cab IRs as well as amp models can both be bypassed with the ACS1, making it more flexible for ampless rigs that still have physical cabs, and vice versa.

Featuring meticulous tube modeling techniques, EC-1 offers a choice of two authentically reproduced preamp circuits that lend a subtle vintage character to your input signal. One is based on the classic EP-2 tube preamp and features an enhanced high-end shelf perfect for brightening up darker humbuckers. The other preamp option (the default setting) produces a warm, balanced response based on the modded preamp circuit in the EP-2 unit that we studied during the development of EC-1. This option adds a pleasing sense of heft, especially to single-coils. Both preamp choices offer an optional boost of up to +6dB, or the preamp can be bypassed for an unprocessed dry signal if desired.

Strymon's unique dTape technology was first developed for El Capistan, and they have expanded on it to reproduce all the inspiring nuances weencountered while studying a recently-acquired tube Echoplex that was in uncommonly superb condition. Our dTape system allows precise replication of every aspect of every tape echo we've studied, and in EC1 this includes the effect of the moving head, the tape condition, the bias setting, the mechanical effects of motors, capstan slippage and all the irregularities that add up to create the unmistakable, inspiring sound of vintage tape echo repeats.

Whether you want the cleanest repeats, subtle fattening or even downright dirty echos, you can instantly dial in the desired amount of tape saturation with the flip of a switch. Providing pleasing tonal shifts from thinner to fatter, EC-1's three-way Record Level toggle switch selects the gain of the signal fed into the virtual record head. Choose the low position for unity gain with optimized bias for the cleanest repeats, medium for a 6dB input signal boost with increased bias for slightly saturated repeats, or high for a 12dB input signal boost with further increased bias for heavily saturated repeats. This control also gives you a fast and easy way to match EC-1's response to your input signal level to obtain the desired sound from any pickup type or pedalboard configuration.

For EC-1, fluctuations from motors and mechanical components were thoroughly studied to accurately capture their imperfections. At the lower end of the Mechanics control's range only slower motor-related wow and flutter are present, but at around one o'clock these fluctuations are reduced in favor of faster disturbances from crinkle, splices, and capstan slippage which accurately replicate the sound of our golden EP-2 unit.This setting can create uniquely reverberant and three-dimensionalechos that spread across the stereo spectrum. The slower fluctuations are mixed back in more prominently as you approach the maximum Mechanics setting, and the unique combination of multiple imperfections create truly gorgeous, organic stereo modulation effects unlike anything you've ever heard.

The frequency characteristics of tape echo repeats are determined in part by the bandwidth of the actual tape stock, so older tapes will have a lower bandwidth with a warmer top end. EC-1 allows you to faithfully reproduce these characteristics by turning up the Tape Age knob for warmer repeats, or turning it toward minimum for the full-bandwidth sound of fresh tape.

EC-1 is designed to allow high levels of repeats that are truly lush but that don't spiral into uncontrollable feedback. That wide sweet spot on the edge of runaway feedback can create intriguing sound beds under your lead or rhythm playing. Of course if you want to crank the Repeats control to maximum and play with the unique pitch effects that only a sliding record head tape echo can produce, those effects are all precisely replicated in sound and response.

Notes: The Zoom MS-90LP+ is a versatile stereo looper. With the tap of your foot you can add loops, layers, effects and rhythm patterns. And with 32-bit float processing, the MS-90LP+ gives creators flawless audio quality every time.

The Andy Summers Walking on the Moon is an analogue flanger with a simple but powerful control set of RATE, RANGE, and COLOR. RATE sets the speed of modulation which ranges from slow, smooth filter sweeps to jittering vibrato. RANGE controls how narrow or wide the effect sweeps into the bass frequency range. The COLOR control effects the intensity of the flanger effect from subtle chorusing effects to classic jet woosh sounds. These three controls interact to create a wide breath of modulation effects.

Additionally, the Walking on the Moon includes a FILTER MATRIX which disengages the LFO from the flanger circuit, freezing the flanger giving a fixed filter effect, which can add chime or metallic overtones to your sound without the movement of a traditional modulation pedal. A DRY output allows you to split your dry signal from the effected signal.

Classic Tape Echo Experience.

Volante gives you superbly crafted multi-head tape echoes, including the smooth tape saturation and the characteristic imperfections and nonlinearities inherent to the sound of those vintage machines.

Mechanical alignment, head wear, and tape crinkles, splices, and contaminants are all accounted for in Volante, giving you all the richness and complexity of a classic tape echo, with modern control and stability. True Studio Tape Sound.

The professional reel-to-reel machines of the 50s and 60s were high-fidelity units built to accurately reproduce full-range audio signals. In the hands of creative engineers, these machines also doubled as some of the earliest studio effects, producing some of the fattest sounds imaginable.

Completely Analogue Dry Path.

In a typical digital effect the dry signal gets converted to digital, causing conversion noise and latency. Signals are often attenuated before combining digital dry and wet, with makeup gain amplifying the conversion noise. To avoid this, Strymon have equipped Volante with a completely analogue dry path, featuring all-analogue, ultra low noise, discrete, class-A stereo JFET preamps. Volante is truly a studio-quality effect.

Notes: Harvezi Hazze is a versatile and unique distortion pedal with a wide tonal palette.

The heart of Harvezi Hazze is a waveshaper designed around a unijunction transistor, a relic from the early days of the semiconductor industry unearthed from the e-waste bins of flea markets in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The unique properties of the unijunction transistor allow one simple component to replace a number of very complex devices: depending on the operating mode, we can get a distortion, a limiter, a waveshaper and a generator - with a smooth transition between them. Experiments have shown that this transistor is an excellent basis for a distortion stompbox.

The name translates from Georgian as "a fault on the transmission line" or "signal jamming", and both the semantic and phonetic natures of it unequivocally imply what to expect - an impediment to the input signal, ranging from pleasant harmonic distortions to complete obliteration. The signal chain of the unit consists of an optical compressor with fixed parameters; a dual-mode distorting amplifier with either softer or harsher clipping; a waveshaper built around a unijunction transistor; and a tone stack section trying to tame all this mess.

Signal Chain:

Input -> Compressor -> Distorting amplifier -> Waveshaper -> Tone stack -> Output

Controls:

Gain - controls the output amplitude of the signal in the distorting amplifier section. Depending on the position of the switch, the distortion introduced by this section is soft (switch in the left position) or more aggressive with an abundance of high harmonics (middle position).

Spoil and Spread - control the operation of the unijunction transistor (waveshaper section). Spoil sets the point on the amplitude axis at which the wave will fold, and Spread sets the amplitude of the folding. The sonic meaning of these knobs can be described as follows: the higher the Spread value, the more severe the distortion will be, and Spoil changes timbre and response threshold. By adjusting Spoil you can achieve various gating and cutoff effects. At low Spread values, distortion sounds are mixed into the clean sound.

Tone - adjusts the brightness of the sound; the higher the value, the more high harmonics are present in the signal.

The switch regulates either the distortion mode in the amplifier section (left and center positions), or it turns on the total feedback mode (right position), when the values of all knobs begin to influence each other and effects occur such as resonance at certain frequencies and self-oscillation.

Level - controls the output volume of the signal.

The footswitch routes the signal through the effect circuitry or from input to output directly (true bypass).

The array of switches on the side of the unit gives a few more tonal options:

TONE STACK - routes the signal through the tone stack section (Tone knob).

BASS BOOST - enhances bass frequencies.

Graphic equalizers provide a convenient visual sense of the EQ curve. However, there is a tradeoff in transparency and precision.

The graph here shows the ParaEq MKII Deluxe (cyan) and a 7-band graphic EQ pedal (magenta) both providing a +4dB boost at around 2 kHz. As can be seen, the ParaEq is much more precise in the changes it can make, whereas the graphic EQ affects nearly the entire frequency spectrum. So, what exactly is this granular effect and why is it a magical experience when combined with delay? Granular is a digital processing technique of micro-sampling, wherein short samples called grains are read from a delay buffer. In the Fable, players can adjust these grains by manipulating their sampling length, position, and buffer size from which they're read. They can be played at double or half speed for pitch shift and time stretching effects, play them in reverse, read from multiple positions, and more, in order to achieve different effects.

Program 1 runs a reverse delay into a reverse granular algorithm, in which sampled grains are played backwards. Reversal and re-reversal build up in the feedback paths, creating a complex and organically shifting soundscape. II. Forward Delay into Octave Up Granular

Program 4 runs two multi-tap granular algorithms in series, in which multiple samples are played back from each granular buffer simultaneously. Multiple points of sampled sound build upon each other in the feedback paths to create glitchy clouds and unique organic reverberance. Time in this program controls time-stretching of both granular algorithms, changing both the length and tonal character of the granular effect.

V. Forward Delay into Randomized Pitch Granular

Program 5 runs a forward delay into a randomized pitch granular program, in which each grain is played back at a randomly selected speed and direction, varying between pitched up double speed, pitched down half speed, normal speed, plus forward and reversed playback from grain to grain. Pitch changes with each new grain, so play with the X knob in this program to control the rate of randomized pitch modulation.

The 50s era gave birth to an iconic sound in which a single, short delay was utilized to add depth and rhythmic effect on countless recordings. The newly reissued all-analog design of the EHX Slap-Back Echo delivers this beloved classic sound and more in a Pico-sized pedalboard-friendly package. With three delay time settings and up to +20dB of boost, the Slap-Back Echo can achieve subtle doubling effects to intense bathroom reflections all with the distinct flavor of bucket-brigade (BBD) circuitry.

Notes: Pigtronix Infinity 2 is a stereo looping pedal with two independent loops and a streamlined user interface that has been designed to provide an intuitive musical workflow, right out of the box.

The Infinity 2 enables musicians to seamlessly switch between parts, even during initial recording or while overdubbing. This Verse / Chorus type of workflow is further expanded by the ability to delete the loop that is not currently playing - freeing up an open slot for a new loop to be created, without interrupting playback.

Nearly all actions taken by the Infinity 2 occur at the loop boundary. This allows the musician to cue an overdub, switch between loops or stop precisely at the end of a loop, without having to worry about hitting the footswitch at precisely the correct time. Simply tell the machine what to do and it will occur at the end of the current loop. This is the general rule of thumb for all commands, with a few exceptions such as instant stop and fade out, which take place immediately when activated.

A small push-button switch, located above the left footswitch, allows the user to change the functionality of this footswitch to perform various Stop, Stutter and Octave Shift effects. A TRS remote jack allows these special features to be triggered by an external switch. Undo / Redo functionality can also be assigned to the left footswitch, allowing the musician to remove previous overdubs and add them back as desired.

In addition to a dedicated knob for loop Volume, the Infinity 2 also features a Decay knob that causes loop audio to fade out progressively during overdub. With the Decay knob set fully clockwise, the layers pile up at full volume. With the Decay knob set fully counter-clockwise, each overdub lasts for only one loop cycle. With the Decay knob set anywhere in-between those extremes, overdubbing on the Infinity 2 creates constantly evolving loop textures that can be instantly snapped back to a previous state using the Undo function.

Notes: Hizumitas was designed for the one and only Wata from the legendary experimental band Boris, one of the heaviest bands ever to come out of Japan. In their nearly three decades together, Boris has infused doom, hardcore, thrash, noise-core, ambient, free improv, drone, psychedelia, and more into their extensive discography. Boris is also known for their unique collaborations with mutually adventurous artists, including American Doom mongers Sunn O))), noise legends Merzbow, Keiji Haino, and Ian Astbury of The Cult.

Wata, always seen and heard on stage wielding her black Les Paul Custom, mixes killer riffs with searing, fluid, or jaggedly melodic leads and controlled walls of feedback, often with help from an EBow. It's a connection of chaos and melody that has enchanted Boris fans worldwide and influenced many bands that have followed in their considerable wake. Simply stated, no other band sounds like Boris, and no other guitarist rocks like Wata.

But with EQD's Hizumitas fuzz on your pedalboard, you can carve out your own singular, mega-heavy tone.

Hizumitas is a faithful recreation of Wata's go-to distortion pedal, the Elk BM Sustainar. The Elk is a Japanese variant of the very well-known "Triangle" BMP. The designers at EQD tried several vintage BMP's during development, found that each pedal was wildly different and realized that to truly capture the magic they needed the original. Wata graciously sent her beloved pedal halfway around the world, and EQD discovered that it had something special the others didn't have: heavy saturation with a gritty edge and massive bottom while maintaining a clear and dynamic tone with enough mids and top end to cut through any sludge. The studious wizards at EQD have built all of those characteristics into the Hizumitas.

The Ripped Speaker is a modern fuzz with old school roots and pays homage to one of the ways that early, distorted guitar and bass sounds were made. At low fuzz settings the pedal emulates the lo-fi distortion sounds of yesteryear, the kinds of sounds created by a razor blade applied to a speaker cone, a loose tube or a faulty channel on a recording console. When you crank the fuzz up the sound is transformed. It's modern and monumental with a searing, fully saturated, fuzz tone.

The Ripped Speaker's RIP knob is a bias control which sets the amount of clipping at the top and bottom of the signal wave form. It adds a lot of versatility and lets you tailor the character of the fuzz. Noon is neutral, a position where the fuzz is perfectly biased... fat, with a great low end and top end bite without being harsh. As you turn the knob clockwise the pedal produces a hard gating effect and the signal sputters and chokes. It's great for creating a dying battery effect. Turning the knob CCW produces yet a different style of fuzz with a smoother gating effect where the signal fades out quickly.

The Ripped Speaker's TONE control is active and delivers a tilt-shift type EQ. That means at noon the EQ is flat. As you turn the knob counter-clockwise the frequency response gets darker with more pronounced lows and less highs. Going clockwise yields a brighter tone with more highs and rolled back lows.

The Ripped Speaker features true bypass switching, comes equipped with a 9 Volt battery and accepts a standard EHX 9 Volt power supply.

The Eddy gives you envelope and expression pedal control over modulation rate and depth. That means you can control either with your playing dynamics. Plus, if you plug in an EXP pedal, you can use it to control the rate or depth at the same time.

The Mainframe provides sample rate reduction ranging from 48kHz to 110Hz. A little background... the sample rate is the number of times per second that a sample or snapshot of an analogue signal is taken. For example, CDs (remember them?) had a sample rate of 44.1kHz which means that the original analogue signal is sampled 44,100 times per second.

The sample rate defines the frequency range that can be reproduced while maintaining good fidelity. When the sample rate is reduced the quality of the audio is degraded and aliasing occurs. Aliasing means audible artifacts created when higher frequencies are sampled at an inadequate rate and the result is distortion. The Mainframe's sample rate range is wide enough to take you from sounds that are quite pristine to sounds that are unrecognizable when compared to the input signal.

It also provides bit crushing ranging from 24-bit to 1-bit. What does that mean? Bit crushing is bit depth reduction. Back to the CD example... CDs used a 16-bit bit depth meaning that each of its samples was represented by 16-bits of information. Higher bit depths can accurately represent a greater dynamic range while bit crushing increases the number of sampling errors and creatively degrades the sound to bring us back to those nasty "old school" sounds we love.

The Mainframe's selectable High/Low/Band-Pass filter lets the user shape the artifacts of the bit crushing and sample rate. Another very cool feature is its Sample Rate Tuning Mode where the pedal analyses your input signal in real-time and sets the sample rate to match the pitch of your signal, or a set interval above your signal. This allows you to set the sample rate to match the key of a song, or it will continually adjust the sample rate based on what you play!"
