Pop Panic - "Your Body" (5:22)
Aut Zebel - "Flipped Smile" (5:32)
DJ GLC - "Trance Dance" (6:08)
G Punx - "Electro Baked" (7:35)
Review: The first release on this label came - as far we can tell, anyway - all the way back in 2022. Three years on, the second is another effective club weapon, this time with an electro twist. Pop Panic's 'Your Body' has mad heavy drums and maximal synth lines perfect for nice loud plays. Aut Zebel's 'Flipped Smile' takes off on a jacked up acid groove for peak time plays and DJ GLC lays in some high speed retro-future synth euphoria on 'Trance Dance' for emotional plays. G Punx shuts down with the gritted-teeth grooves and slamming bass of 'Electro Baked' for menacing plays.

Evolution (8:46)

Black Light (7:18)
Review: DBH welcome Mihai Popoviciu & David Delgado the the Pleasure Zone series with the 'Evolution' EP. Bringing jazzy, sloshy, jerking flavours to the tech house palette, 'Evolution' and 'Shifting' evolve and shift, convoking a delegated moot of propulsive chords and forward-driving janks, conveying the mood of a finely tuned closed clockwork system chugging away like the central engine of a wider contraption. Closer 'Black Light' operates more readily in the lower regions of things, proving unafraid of sounds that lean towards the more peripheral and umbral.

Lost In The Desert (7:20)
Review: Debuting for the Frankfurt label Zuperflex comes rising producer Luka Hartz under his Porco Rosso alias, topping up a string of releases already breadcrumbed for the likes of Pager Records and Blank State. 'Global Player' hears four surefire dancefloor quickscopes in the vein of progressive and trance-like house, sure to leave you leaving on a high, like 'The Real G'. Of all the auxiliary tracks aside from the supernova A1, the best of the bunch has to be the simply appellated 'Rave', whose phasey offbeat 909 hat is especially hair-raising.

Guiding Me (7:06)
Guiding Me (Lawrence remix) (6:40)
Vigor (6:59)
Review: 'Guiding Me' is the new single from South African-born, Berlin-based artist Portable, who is known for his distinctive vocals and futuristic soundscapes. The track is inspired by his ancestral roots in the Khoi San people, and explores the theme of using technology to alter our dreams. The original mix is a delicate and hypnotic blend of minimal beats, ethereal synths and his soothing voice. The remix by Lawrence of Smallville and Dial reinterprets the track in his typically understated, late night mood music style. The EP also includes an exclusive B-side track called 'Vigor,' which is a deeper and moodier affair that creates a more edgy and mysterious atmosphere.

7th Day EP
Cat: OCD 011. Rel: 24 Oct 24
Brain Galaxy (8:05)
Reel Dominator (6:40)
People Dancing (6:29)
Review: Portal Jams delivers a solid dose of progressive house with the '7th Day' EP on Open Channel For Dreamers records, offering three tracks that encapsulate the genre's best qualities. On Side-1, 'Brain Galaxy' stands out with its clever fusion of breakbeat and progressive house, anchored by a driving acid line that morphs into a deep, resonant bassline. The track's spacey, airy melody elevates the experience, giving it an irresistible old-school vibe with a modern twist. Side-2 opens with 'Reel Dominator,' a track that skillfully marries tech allure with a 90s progressive house feel. Its West Coast influence is unmistakable, blending creativity and nostalgia into a seamless whole. The EP closes with 'People Dancing,' a track that lives up to its name with a bouncy bassline that's impossible to resist. The futuristic elements intertwine with timeless drum patterns, making it both fun and forward-thinking. A well-crafted journey through the many facets of progressive house, with each track offering a unique yet cohesive experience.

1980 Dream (5:46)
1980 Dream (Or:la remix) (6:05)
Review: Primrose does that most difficult of things on this new EP for the Cead label's last single-digit release: hits a perfect sweet spot between dancefloor damage and nuanced home listening. The punchy and driving 'Los Angeles Wingspan' kicks off and is backlit by a heavenly synth glow that softens the punchy, tightly coiled kicks and sprinkles of fluttering metallic percussion. '1980 Dream' is a more refracted piece where melodic phrases dart about the mix, synths scurrying up the scales, paddy drums unfurl in broken patterns and the whole thing keeps you nice and loose. An Or:la remix of '1980 Dream' rounds out a classy EP.

EX-ecute (Exection mix) (4:25)
Review: Prince De Takicardie delivers a new four-track set of tachycardial heart-racers as reinforcements to his own Prince's Castle, which is both a label and a proverbial princely citadel. This is also the Barceloni producer's second edition to the powered 'Force Bleu' EP series, matched colourfully by the equally propulsive 'Force Rouge' counterpart, for which there have also been two records so far. Increasing in both pace and intensity, this raw and jammy follow-up reaches its crescendo at the rough 15-minute mark with the hypnotic 'EX-ecute (Execution Mix)', which conclusively yields to mesmeric acid and mystical three-tone entrainments, contrasting the first three track's relative utilitarian sense.

Go Up was originally a defective release which has since been corrected and remastered and Vol 3 - 02 was not released. It also features a megamix of Ambient Love and Squeeze Up (which feature on Cosmic Soup 005) by Gene On Earth and a remix of Flare's Grip - Prism Remix by Matthew Herbert titled "Herbert's Make It Right Dub". Review: Sometimes we get some wonderfully enigmatic notes with new releases and this is one of them. Rather than share them all, enjoy this one line - "Protecting the past by projecting it into the future, preserving identities, encouraging conversations across generations, and above all, safeguarding the island of Procida's vast intangible cultural heritage from extinction." Now you can ponder the meaning of that while getting lost in a collection of global grooves that span dub, downtempo, ambient jungle, Balearic and more with plenty of humid atmospheres, whimsical melodies and a general sense of mystic aura that will keep you coming back for more.

Proff - "Three Sisters" (7:26)
Proff - "Reverie" (7:40)
Proff & MOS - "Namtso" (7:21)
Proof - "Three Sisters" (Ambient version) (5:28)
Review: Hot on the heels of its digital release comes the fifth top-up to Melody Of The Soul's repertoire. The actual melody of the soul has an infinite song, unending as the universal spirit that unites us all; any representations therein can only be incomplete and numbered, though this four-track home-in is more happy to revel in this limitation, and find a kind of ethereal beauty in the fact. This time focusing on the production efforts of Proff, his progressive number 'Three Sisters' takes centre stage (the album cover is its namesake) and fundamentally proffers a kind of May Day queenly house, with rounding, ascendant female vocals bounding about the mix like a circlet - or coven, even - of magical sisters incanting a rejuvenative dirge.

Review: Cultured minimal craftsman Bruno Pronsato returns with two "motif-based" cuts for Logistic. Each one has interwoven motifs made from vocals, marimba, piano and pads which combine to play a game of peek-a-boo, constantly shifting throughout the pieces. Pronsato's balance of complex ideas yet accessible grooves allows each motif to stand out while also contributing to the overall narrative. There are aspects of 1980s ECM aesthetics, Morton Subotnick's experimental sounds and a dose of club beats here that once again back up the notion that Pronsato has a fine mastery of intricate composition and rhythmic freshness.

Gjidoda & Gjidoda Jr - "Wish To Be A Movie Star" (7:28)
Review: Gjidoda Music returns with its long awaited third release. It's another various artists affair featuring some right heavy hitters and newcomers alike on the minimal scene. Opening up the first side is US veteran Bruno Pronsato with the typically arcane microhouse cut 'When You Ran Away From Home', followed by some late night mood music by Iljir on 'Ziiik Zaaak'. Over on the flip, Nikdo takes you into a cavernous and glacial realm on 'Confusion' and finally label chiefs (presumably!) Gjidoda & Gjidoda Jr go deep on the swing-fuelled groove action of 'Wish To Be A Movie Star'.

Perspective & Surface (Oliver Hess remix) (6:48)
Perspective & Surface (original mix) (5:45)
Review: PRSPCTV aka XENTRIX is an emerging Belgian techno talent who steps out here with his first release on Musik is Egall. His moody and atmospheric original 'Perspective & Surface' is found on the B-side. It's a hunched-over, stripped-back deep techno and dub fusion with grotty synths and vast incendiary hi-hats hurrying you along. Label co-founder Oliver Hess steps up with his own remix on the A-side and flips the track into something as deep as they come, with dubbed out chords and warm, edgeless but driving kicks and smeared pads all laced up with muffled vocal mutterings and rising synths. It's one for early-evening groove sessions or late-night zone outs.

Review: Russia's Moonrover Records triple up as a vinyl, digital music and podcasting platform, exploring the outer spatial limits of our shared cosmotic consciousness through sublime, interstellar minimal tech house. Here Stanislav Gontar aka. PRT Stacho crosses the event horizon, as 'Time' and 'Sputnik' offer flux-continual swells between otherwise calculated and regrounded beats. It's like gazing out the satellite window, as warp-drive thrusters on the hull's flanks illume junky space debris as it whizzes past.

Review: This release features a sleek blend of futuristic dance styles, balancing crisp production with atmospheric touches. The opening track presents tight, clean tech house grooves, punctuated by spacey sound effects that create an addictive, futuristic vibe. Its remix takes a more direct approach, incorporating a subtle 90s techno flavour while cleverly reworking the original's elements into a creative, space-themed journey. On the flip side, the second track leans into progressive house and techno territory with a meticulous production and a hypnotic, driving rhythm. The accompanying remix weaves in a sharp acid line and a euphoric, almost trance-like energy that elevates the track's impact, making for a great all round package.

Review: By now already a cult favourite label, Banoffee Pies Originals is back with new beats from Planet Euphorique label boss D. Tiffany and multidisciplinary artist and Rinse FM resident Ciel working together as Psychedelic Budz. The Canadian duo delivers two off-kilter club tracks here with a guest appearance by Adam Pits under his Lil Mushroom alias. That's on the title cut 'Wonk Donk' and it features a supple and hyper-speed rhythm with dubby undercurrent and deft vocal smears next to acidic squiggles. The other cut 'Vokal Fry' is a percussive jumble with broken beats, watery effects, chopped-up vocals and a generally beguiling vibe.

Review: Parchi Pubblici is an Italian hardware specialist who usually makes music by doing one-take recordings. This is his debut vinyl EP and it features four original tracks with the first three designed as peak-time club anthems, all powered by roaring analogue machines. These tracks are built to make dancefloors sweat and they surely will. The title, 'Pressed Trouble', perfectly encapsulates the EP's energy. 'Clogged Key' is all bleeping synths and rugged low ends, 'Cautela (feat Delia Derbyshire)' is more funky and bouncy, 'Error504' is acid laced and dirty and 'HTSG' is lit up by superb synth arps and cosmic adventuring.

Review: Putch continues to take sole charge of the music on their own self-titled label. This fifth transmission, which again comes as a limited hand-stamped white label 12" - follows on where the previous four, which all sold out in quick fashion, left off. That is to say with a dusty house vibe that is driven by frayed kicks, well-programmed rhythms and sharp percussion to cut through the deepness. Add in some melodies that range from cosmic and spaced out to trippy and neon, and you have another high-functioning EP.

Review: The anonymous artist game is still going strong in the minimal scene, and t's still yielding some of the freshest material at a time when it pays to bring something different to the table. The Putch series deals in a tougher kind of tech house on its sixth volume, bringing densely packed, rolling rhythms and sizzling flair to the A-side cut with one eye on the sunrise at all times. On the B-side, things get a little deeper without forsaking those snappy drum machine beats, but really the choral pads are the star of the show on this closed-eyes wonder, just itching for a loose and limber crowd to sail away with.

It's a super smooth sound with drum swaying back and forth, molten synth adding late night and tissue soul and the tender vocal adding intimacy and late night romance. Rocco Rodamaal steps up for remixes and first of all he pairs things back to a sedate, seductive deep house roll then fleshes out the drums with some dubby weight to finish.!

The tracks here unfold slowly, each element carefully placed, allowing the deep, rumbling bass and crisp percussion to speak for themselves. There's a warmth to the production, with subtle melodies peeking through the smooth rhythms, creating a hypnotic effect that pulls you in. The vibe is steady yet unpredictable, and you can feel the influence of house, techno, and everything in between. It's an understated but impressive exploration of sound.

Review: The debut album from Ukrainian collective Noneside unites musicians and visual artists under the inspiring words of poet Taras Shevchenko, who said 'Make love, o dark-browed ones.' Framed by a painting from contemporary artist Iryna Maksymova, the music explores the trance and tech house that is destined to bring souls together on the dancefloor this summer and beyond. Shjva opens with fresh and mashed bass and sleek trance pads that are subtle but effective. Lostlojic layer sup deep, bubbly techno drums and bass with an angelic vocal tone and Saturated Color's 'Trancia' is a speedy, scuffed-up tech groove for late-night cruising. Peshka and Yevhenii Loi offer two more future-facing trance-techno fusions packed with feels.

Review: According to JD Twitch's sales notes, Luke Solomon and former Greenskeepers man Nick Maurer decided to join forces as Powerdance in reaction to "the bland, soulless dance music that's infiltrating clubs the world over". Certainly, there's little bland or soulless about opener "Mysterious Space Plane", which not only jacks harder than Ron Hardy after a face full of amphetamines, but also boasts a typically eccentric vocal from Maurer (this, incidentally, is given additional prominence on the accompanying, beat-less Reprise version). Elsewhere, "More Fire" takes TB-303-driven acid house into deep space, while "Fire Beat" offers a stripped-back, percussion heavy take on the same cut.

Review: There's plenty to get sucked into on this latest 12" transmission from Germany's Movida. It is Part 1 of a new Waterdrop EP from a quartet of artists. Somfay goes it alone to start with on the far-sighted and zoned-out house of 'Arborvitae (A Voice Like Water). Luc Ringeisen & Funk E then link up for 'Treinta Y Siempre' which is a lithe and sleek electro-tinged rhythm with lovely downbeat bass notes and more uplifting melodic patterns. Last of all is Polyfan Polyphenix, a jittery and rugged rhythm with razor sharp hi-hats and twisted vocals that bring a leftfield sound to 'Polymorph 2.'

Somfay opens up proceedings with 'Arborvitae' (A Voice Like Water) which is a zoned out roller with chords that encourage you to gaze off to the future. In fact, they're an entire label dedicated to the cartoon vampire-batty, kitsch smiling pumpkinned, brains-starved nuts-and-bolts-Frankenstein'ed theme: the propulsive monster-mashes therein are just as wicked and weird, with opener 'Je Suis Dans La Nuit' deploying reflective eskimo synths and crepuscular bass progressions; Phase O'Matic's 'Diskotech' making use of raw, flitty bleep leads and dead-of-night screams; and Lazer Man's 'Ozonar 12' opting for hollowed-out dub techno stabs and slinky minimal movements down below.

Goes D Jam (8:58)
112 Bright Jam (5:07)
Goes C Jam (7:17)
107 Dark Jam (8:35)
Review: Ron Moreli's famously sleazy LIEs welcomes back one of its regular artists in Lipelis, this time with his TMO project alongside extra goodness from keyboardist Eugene Piankov. The pair really go for it from the off, with anthemic house stomper 'Goes D Jam' offering up squealing 303 and 909s that ring out into the cosmos over crunchy drums. '112 Bright Jam' is slower, deeper, more heartfelt with its tender piano chords and 'Goes C Jam' is an acid laced piano celebration. Last of all is '107 Dark Jam' which is a heads down stomp with acid meditations for grotty warehouse spaces at 5am.

L'Express (10:04)
Review: Jay Tripwire sits right at the most trippy and after-hours end of the tech house spectrum. His fresh and future sounds now pop up on The Other Side, where he works with Pheek on two new jams. 'Thirsty (feat Cimpian Mark)' kicks off and is an immediately compelling and atmospheric sound with smart sound designs and metallic snares cutting up the kinetic beats. On the flip is an equally minimal offering in 'L'Express' which lures you into its moody mist and keeps you there while occupying your mind with its many marvellous details.

Praus - "Magnetism" (6:01)
Sherman C & Space Ace - "Just A Dream" (6:23)
Warehouse Preservation Society - "Fugitive Funk" (dub) (4:35)
Review: Techno House Connoisseurs return with a fresh VA, packed with five top-tier acid and tech house tracks. Kicking off the A side is Los Angeles duo Warehouse Preservation Society with 'Fugitive Funk', a bass-heavy, breakbeat-infused slammer that captures the essence of hypnotic West Coast vibes. London's Flash Mitra makes a debut with a moody, percussive acid house gem. On the B-side, THC regular Praus delivers 'Magnetism', an acid chugger with warped vocals and 303 grooves, while Space Ace and Sherman C team up for 'Just a Dream', a relentless acid banger destined for peak-time sets.

Review: LILA mainstay Ayaavaaki and ambient veteran Purl speak different languages but used a translator to convey ideas to one another as they made this record. And they very much foment their own unique musical language on Ancient Skies, an album that blends ambient, drone and space music into richly layered soundscapes that are constantly on the move. Each piece is meticulously crafted and suspense you up amongst the clouds, hazing on at the smeared pads and swirling solar winds that prop you up. It's a record that would work as well in the depths of winter as a bright spring day such is the cathartic effect of the sounds. Beautiful, thought-provoking and innovative, this is as good an ambient record as we have heard all year.
