Review: Whilst the music fan and his dog seems to have conveniently forgotten about the risibly named chill wave, there's still a sizeable sense of anticipation surrounding the forthcoming debut album from arch progenitor Washed Out. An aperitif is served up in the shape of "Eyes Be Closed", which comes backed with some decidedly Pitchfork friendly remixes on this limited white vinyl twelve. The original is a suitably immersive number with great big swathes of psychedelic melodies augmented by Greene's sublime vocal. In respect of the remixes, Grimes does a bewitching job splaying the pitched vocals over a beatless wave of emotive textures before dropping into a neat little lo fi bounce, whilst Manchester's Dilla reincarnate Starslinger drops a nice digital beatbox variant. The ever excellent Steve Moore dons his lesser spotted Lovelock alias for a nice little 80s soft rock disco refix replete with a subtly devilish bassline.
