Review: Legendary producer Black Devil Disco Club aka French composer Bernard Fevre is back for one final album that completes one of music's most strange and enigmatic discographies. His early work like 1977's debut record was often mistaken for the work of Aphex Twin as it was so experimental and ahead of his time. 2006 album 28 After on this label disproved that theory though and now this latest offering is another spellbinding collision of styles form wave to EBM, disco to experimental electronics. A weird and wonderful ride deep into the musical psyche of a truly maverick artist, it is another timeless work that serves as a fine tribute to his past 40 years of subverting expectation.

Review: The Horrors keys/bass man Tom Furse showcases his love for (and knowledge of) library music with this delicious Lo Recordings compendium. Given access to the Southern Library Of Record Music and told to plunder as merrily as he liked, Furse describes the collection himself as "the bastard sounds of pop fancy"... Which isn't far off the mark. From the intergalactic magic carpet ride of "Everglades" to the horn-hype and muted trumpet silliness of big band swing cut "For Joan To Dance To" by way of the flute-firing, big screen tree top chase of "Tarzan Talk", each cut is written to a clear visual brief but works so well in other contexts. With many of the tracks having never been released before, this is a coup on a variety of levels.

Review: "Year of the Dragon" marks Windsurf member Samuel Milton Grawe's first album for some seven years under the Hatchback guise and it is nothing short of spellbinding. It sees Grawe mix and match a variety of complimentary influences - think space disco, cosmic rock, horizontal electronic jazz, slo-mo synth-pop, Balearica, 1980s library music and synth-wave - to create evocative, musically rich tracks that not only defy simple categorization, but also linger in the memory. Highlights include the dreamy, loved-up ambient cut "Onarimon" and "Year Of The Dragon", a 12-minute Balearic epic that reminded us of his early classics "Hatchback" and "White Diamond".
