Review: ***B-STOCK: Large tear to the back of the outer sleeve, product in perfect working order***
While he's previously released a fair number of EPs under a variety of aliases (Deejay Xanax, Dj Wey and Luis included), Brian Pinyero has only one DJ Python release to his name. Dude Compania, his first full-length under any pseudonym, is therefore something of a game-changer. It's rather fine, too, offering a leisurely stroll through attractively intergalactic deep house pastures in the company of tracks built around interesting, off-kilter drum patterns. Highlights are plentiful, from the glacial chords and aqueous melodies of vintage ambient house style shuffler "Todo Era Azul (Siempre Dub)" and atmospheric broken house workout "Acostados" (where field recordings of distant traffic rise above fluttering synthesizer loops and delicately programmed percussion), to the ultra-deep and positive brilliance of closer "Yo Ran (Do)".
