Review: Hunting High and Low, the 1985 debut album from A-ha, gets a reissue as a 6LP vinyl box set. Responsible for changing synthpop forever with their breakout 'Take On Me', the single's parent album here has been reissued numerous times, but this one aims to be the curtain call. With a whopping 64-page booklet detailing the band's origins thrown in on top of a mammoth four LPs, three of which contain a huge swath of unheard demos, B-sides and rarities, this is a cash-in on a much-beloved pop band we're sure will be eaten up.

Review: Is it really 10 years since Alt-J burst into the open with the barnstorming success of their debut album An Awesome Wave? The band set out their stall as something a little different from the get-go, but the vital essence of the band is in their ability to bridge the gap between widely appealing indie songwriting hooks and unusual touches which make everything sound new, even a decade later. It's fair to say they inspired a fair few artists in their wake, especially with the likes of 'Something Good', but none of these imitators match up to the sheer inventiveness spilling out of this incredible debut album. In the wake of their latest album The Dream, it's a treat to be able to go back to the beginning of their remarkable journey.

Review: Australian folk-indie-pop set Angus & Julia Stone, appropriately led by brother and sister Angus and Julia Stone, have been making waves Down Under for almost 20 years now. One listen to their output is enough to convince you they're a cut well above the rest, and the panel charged with deciding on the ARIA Awards obviously agree. They've now won lots, and received nominations for countless more.
Life Is Strange certainly reflects their oeuvre quite accurately. Somewhere between contemporary country, blissful indie and romantic, soft and sweet artsy indie, the project itself also reflects their forward-thinking attitude, with this one of a growing number of video game scores that are actually albums in themselves, rather than the kind of straight up soundtracks we're mostly used to.

Review: Joan Armatrading's latest release is a rich collection of songs that showcases her impressive skill as both a songwriter and a musician. Each track blends thoughtful lyrics with her signature melodic style and there's a refreshing mix of full-band arrangements and stripped-back instrumentals. Her guitar work stands out, adding a raw edge to the songs, while her lyrics explore personal reflections and universal themes, as always with honesty and depth. It's a release that reaffirms her place as a long-time favourite, offering both a nod to her past and a new chapter in her musical journey.

The Drugs Don't Work (5:37)
Review: It's been three whole years since we last encountered a new album from the man like Richard Ashcroft. The guy who once told us how the drugs no longer worked, only to then explain how lucky he was. In many ways, Acoustic Hymns Vol.1 is an extension of all that, a record that has come along at a time when he's clearly ready to reflect on the heady days of the Britpop and UK indie explosion detonated in the 1990s.

Whether you'd call this album a covers collection or original, new work is definitely down to opinion. Ashcroft has opted to turn his hand back to tracks released with his seminal band The Verve, and a few of his own solo bits, only reimagined and reappropriated. The latter word is the most accurate, though. Here genuinely new life is breathed back into the likes of 'Bittersweet Symphony', which, considering the scale of that particular hit, is no mean feat.

Review: Melbourne funk and soul talents The Bamboos have now been blazing their own trail for almost a quarter of a century. This Is How You Do It makes their 11th studio album and shows the nine piece collective still has plenty to say for itself. Although at times this hints at a new direction, the album also bares all the hallmarks fans have come to love and expect from the group with Lance Ferguson's soulful production and effortless groove paired with the potent vocals of Kylie Auldist. Guest MCs from the US (Ozay Moore and Ohmega Watts) feature as do some boogie and disco tinged singles like 'Ex-Files'.

Review: How long has Billy Idol been doing it for? Who can even count any more, but here he is bursting back onto the airwaves with his canny blend of hard rock and anthemic pop hooks, sounding like the maximalist 80s juggernaut he's always been. 'The Cage' is a chugging, sing-a-long monster with enough rousing self-help energy to border on sports rock. If you've loved Idol and the musical world he exists in all these years, you'll be very happy to hear every inch of this mighty four-track single. Epic rock without parallel.

Review: Capturing the era of Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio on vocals following Ozzy Osborne's departure, Live Evil was the first officially sanctioned live album from Birmingham's foremost heavy metal pioneers. The album came together in 1982, drawing on shows from Seattle, San Antonio and Dallas on the Mob Rules tour, and now it has been given the deluxe reissue treatment. As well as the original mix of the album, there's an entirely new mix of the album from the original analogue master tapes by long time band associate Wyn Daivs, complete with a 40-page hardback book featuring new liner notes and replicas of the original concert book and poster form the Mob Rules tour.

Review: 1995 saw the semi-controversial release of the final Tony Martin-era Black Sabbath album Forbidden, marking their 18th full-length overall. Reuniting the 1990 Tyr-era lineup with the re-enlisting of Neil Murray on bass and Cozy Powell on drums, the project was maligned upon release on both the critic and fan sides of reception, likely stemming from the unusual choice to have Ernie C of Body Count man the desk for production duties with bandmate Ice-T even providing the spoken word segment on the opening track 'The Illusion Of Time'. While in later years, Martin would consider the project a "filler album that got the band out of the label deal, rid of the singer, and into the reunion", based off the fact that guitarist Tony Iommi would reconcile with original frontman Ozzy Osborne not long after, that still doesn't alter the fact that the original lineup reunion effort 13 wouldn't arrive for practically another two full decades. Whatever your deeply held personal beliefs, they are those out there who still fly the flag for this peculiar era from the metal pioneers, so much so that the Anno Domini 1989-1995 box set release earlier in 2024 collates all of the Martin-era albums into one definitive collection while being freshly remastered by Tony Iommi himself in perhaps an internalised effort to undo the production choices many have highlighted as a major point of contention. This limited ultra clear pressing marks the first time since the release of said box set that Iommi's remaster of Forbidden has been made available for individual purchase.

Review: The Black Sabbath Hand Of Doom box set provides the ultimate collection for fans who opt to live in a world where the group never had any other vocalist apart from Ozzy Osbourne. Providing picture disc represses of all eight LPs released during the original frontman's tenure from 1970 to 1978 (2013's reunion album 13 is not included), the collection boasts the self-titled 1970 debut, the same-year follow up Paranoid, as well as the iconic slew of Master Of Reality (1971), Vol 4 (1972), Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1973), Sabotage (1975), Technical Ecstasy (1976) and Never Say Die! (1978). Limited to 3000 copies (which isn't a large amount when considering how vital Sabbath's early material still is to this day) and complete with a large coloured poster, fan service rarely gets as ideal or essential as Hand Of Doom.

Review: Following on from 1987's The Eternal Idol and 1989's Headless Cross, the very next year of 1990 would see the third full-length from Birmingham metal gods Black Sabbath to feature vocalist Tony Martin. Instructed to tone down the direct, in-your-face nature of the previous project's satanic lyrics, Martin looked toward Norse mythology for lyrical inspiration; a decision initially bewildering to guitarist and primary songwriter Tony Iommi. With the title Tyr, named after the son of Odin and the god of single combat and heroic glory, the band sought to seek out a new sonic identity to compliment the lyrical narratives, leading to what many fans consider to be the heaviest Sabbath album to date, while some bemoan that Cosy Powell's mammoth drumming utterly eclipses all other instruments. With the release of the Anno Domini 1989-1995 box set earlier this year which collates all albums from the Tony Martin-fronted era, this marks the first time any of these LPs have ever been reissued, and now with all albums being made separately available, the newly remastered Tyr does its utmost to restrain Powell's power and amp up everything else from the grooving riffage to the quintessential keyboard sections provided by perennial fifth member Geoff Nicholls. This would also be the last time this lineup would record together until 1995's Forbidden.

Review: Originally released in 1989, Headless Cross would serve as the second Tony Martin-era album from Birmingham metal pioneers Black Sabbath, following on from The Eternal Idol. Notably increasing the occult and satanic aspects to higher degrees than ever before, many heralded the work as a true return to form following the hard rock-centric turn of their latter material with Ozzy or throughout the majority of their Ronnie James Dio fronted run. With hefty, macabre riffage cloaked (and daggered) in shrouds of sonic gloom, the project would be the first to feature drummer Cozy Powell, while being their only full-length with session bassist Laurence Cottle. Marking the dawn of their deal with I.R.S. upon becoming disillusioned with the big major record labels, this criminally overlooked era of the band finally received its flowers in early 2024 with the release of the Anno Domini 1989-1995 box set which collates all the Tony Martin albums onto one fully remastered box set for many of the titles' first time ever made available on wax. This pressing offers the same updated, newly revitalised version, now being individually distributed.

Focused on those breakthrough years with Ozzy Osborne, there are just too many classic tracks to count on here, whether it's the harmonica baiting sludge of 'The Wizard' or the motorik drive of 'Paranoid' you're after. A perfect primer for newcomers, or a handy capsule of all the best bits - it's Black Sabbath, need we say more?

Review: Alpha Games is the sixth studio album from perennial millennial indie heroes Bloc Party. It's been six years since their last record, Hymns, so what has happened to Kele Okereke's band in that time? Notably, the line-up now features Justin Harris and Louise Bartle and this is the first record they had a direct influence on the songwriting. Listening to lead single 'Traps', there's a fierce urgency which positively leaps out of the speakers. The rhythm section rushes, and Okereke cavorts across the top with a theatrical performance which shows off his range perfectly. There's no doubt they'll be lighting up indie dancefloors and festivals alike as they ride the energy of this album into the great wide world this summer.

Review: The Blow Monkeys' classic debut Animal Magic sees a well-deserved 4xCD reissue, physically looking back on the year of 1986, in which elegant lead singles such as 'Digging Your Scene' took New York by storm. The album blends pop, funk, new wave and soul, likening the human condition rightly to that of animals - and it's no surprise that there's an anticapitalist bent running throughout the album too. A wealth of bonus material here appears too, as sophisticated sax, synth and reverb sway off into the horizon.

It is their first new release since their hugely successful and widely acclaimed 2020 album The Kingdom and it has a punchy, uptempo swing to it that finds them in top form. Plenty of tunes retain the band's signature moodiness with infectious hooks and big riffs detailing each of the tracks. 'Kiss Me I'm Dead' is a real standout with its heavy guitar jabs and strained vocals well as an epic chorus.

Review: Over three LPs, this impressive compilation covers album tracks, singles and B-sides across 30 years of Nick Cave's nigh-on flawless work with The Bad Seeds. Following the progression of the band through these 45 lushly remastered tracks, we hear Cave mature as writer, composer and singer, from the early post-Birthday Party morbid obsessions, through tender ballads, the grand theatrical 'Dig, Lazarus, Dig' era work, to the intense and widescreen masterpiece of 2014's 'Push The Sky Away'. In its assembly, 'Lovely Creatures' is far more than a mere compilation, it's a broad and exhaustive journey through Cave's mythological folklore universe of murder, sex, drugs, love, light and dark.

Review: Dave Clarke's Red Series remains a vital benchmark in the evolution of UK techno. Released between 1993 and 1996, the three-volume run even managed to brush the UK top 40 back in the good old days when anything felt possible. Tracks like 'Wisdom To The Wise' will forever be etched in the make up of techno, and for very good reason. Now the whole series is being given a lavish reissue treatment which takes in all the original releases along with additional discs of rare, archival tracks and remixes, all bundled up in a box with a booklet and autographed by the Baron himself.

The newly reissued collection features three new songs recorded in tribute to Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie, following her passing in 2022. The band have recorded beautiful new versions of the classic songs 'Little Lies', 'Everywhere' and 'Songbird' - produced and recorded by Guy Chambers.

Review: Counting Crows' sequent 2021's Butter Miracle: Suite One with The Complete Sweets! Now expanding on the themes of its predecessor, the record hears all four tracks from Suite One alongside five new songs, blending this heartsick Berkeley, CA band's signature storytelling with sweeping melodies and raw emotion. Leading the charge is 'Spaceman In Tulsa', a striking single that not only marks their first new music in nearly five years, but appropriately concerns itself with the theme of metamorphosis - "the way music breaks down who we were and spins us into something new. It's about broken lives becoming something better," in the words of frontman Adam Duritz. The record coincides with a fresh tour kicking off in Nashville in Spring 2025, with stops across North America and Europe.

He plays all across the spectrum with high energy and a really infectious style. Now the legend returns with his first album in over a decade and it comes on BMG. It was written over the last two years at his home studio in Melbourne and takes his sound to a whole new level. It is also being played live by Carl on the road right now.

For the first time since 2005, we have a new one, Cheat Codes, to get stuck into following collabs with Daniele Lupi and Karen O and some production work with Gnarls Barkley and Gorillaz. It is a triumph, too, with tough beats uplifting while the rapper lays down endless bars that are free for choruses. It is a mix of the new school and the old school that is utterly, typically, intoxicating.

Review: Here's a timely re-issue that reminds us all just how quickly time flies. Already alternative rap OGs by the time this first saw the light of day back in 2004, De La Soul brought together the hip-hop elite to collaborate on their seventh studio album. Featuring cameos and production from the likes of J Dilla, Madlib, 9th Wonder, Supa Dave West, and MF Doom, the LP was met with critical acclaim when released and continues to stand up nearly 20 years later. Nostalgic yet forward-thinking, the well-formed album includes plenty of high points. 'Shopping Bags' offers a cautionary tale flow over dusty beats with a mightily hooky chorus, 'Rock Co.Kane Flow' demonstrates the group's ability to evolve with the changing times, while the feel-good flex of the title track is a standout, hands-in-the-air classic.

Review: Dexys, the band formerly known as Dexys Midnight Runners, put out One Day I'm Going to Soar back in 2012. It was their fourth LP overall but their first in 27 years having been one of the key bands of the pop rock and new wave sounds of the 70s and 80s. Dexys' lead singer Kevin Rowland forints the album with 1980s members Big "Jim" Paterson, Pete Williams and Mick Talbot alongside new members Neil Hubbard, Tim Cansfield and Lucy Morgan. There are also guest vocals from Madeleine Hyland and the album lives up to the band's high standards with plenty of well-written songs and scratchy riffs bringing back the good times.

The Mandrake Project is the singer's seventh studio solo album in total and the most long awaited too. 'Afterglow of Ragnarok' was the first single released prior to the album and received a great response for the song's heavy sound and catchy chorus, while another single, 'Rain on the Graves', sees Bruce delivering a narrative style of lyric not a million miles from Maiden's 'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner'. This Deluxe Edition comes in gatefold on 180-gram vinyl 2xLP.

Naturally devoid of peak prowess anthems such as 'Holy Diver', this collection is for the completionists, die-hards and those who actually paid enough attention throughout the years to mark the endearing amount of emotion and care that went into all of the output Ronnie James Dio would put his name on, all the way up his final years.

Review: Flared, blazered indie rockers Dope Lemon don leopard-print scarves and pink supercars as they glide, sunshades on, down the street to the tune of their new album 'Rose Pink Cadillac'. After the release of their recent single of the same name, the album is decidedly electro-funky and sultry in feel, with the band reconcile every mood between the styles of Tame Impala and Anderson Paak, and teasing a stinking funk to the smooth production that belies each vocal performance by Angus Stone. Coming to CD and LP, one lucky fan who preorders the album will receive - yes - a real 1960s rose pink cadillac with their preorder.

Review: 'The Montreux Years' was a period of time in which legendary American singer, songwriter and pianist Dr. John - who blended blues, jazz, funk, rock and roll and New Orleans music - held wide renown as a staple of the Swiss Montreux Jazz Festival for a solid two-decade juncture, between 1973 and 1995. This album captures his tenure at the festival over the years, and features live recordings from his performances, as well as two previously unreleased tracks. Both a celebration of the work of Dr. John and the European jazz festival, it's certainly not one to be missed.

Review: English new wave legends Duran Duran were already up to album number nine by the time they dropped this one in October 1997. A full quarter of a century later and it gets a deserved 25th anniversary release which, actually, makes the first time it has arrived physically in this country. Back in 97 it was only released in North America, Latin America and Japan. Alt-rock, synth-pop and electronica all feature and the front cover has a painting of the band by artist Andrew Day. At the time the album wasn't received too well critically but that view has changed over the years.

Review: The Crown Prince of Essex is here in all his sex and drugs and rock 'n' roll glory, and while most of the tracks on this career-spanning collection will be familiar, diving back into the back catalogue is a welcome reminder of the power of modern poetry. Ever the astute lyricist, deftly combining slang with more sophisticated forms of English wordplay, it's enough to make you fall head over heels for the eccentric lad-cum-laird all over again.

With early anthems such as 'Kilburn & The High Roads' sitting next to outtakes from his final, posthumous 2002 album and classics like 'Reasons To Be Cheerful Pt.3', and 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick', Hit Me! is as comprehensive an introduction or as deep an exploration of a musical master's work as you are likely to find on two discs. Let's leave it at that.

Review: Liverpool's legendary Echo & The Bunnymen add to their 30-plus years of service to music with a new album, of sorts, that in fact delivers two new compositions and 13 other songs plucked from their vast and expansive catalog. Long-time fans will no doubt be pleased to hear the new beatless tinges given to their 1984 classic "Seven Seas", while of course the album is a perfect diving point for new audience to come to grips with the band too. Take, for example, the gnarlyish drawl of "Nothing Lasts Forever" that helps offset the Bowie-like tendencies heard in numbers like "Lips like Sugar" and "The Somnambulist". Sounds like a cliche, but seriously, still as good as it ever was.

Review: One of the defining moments of the 90s Welsh indie pop band's career, their fourth album arrived at a time of profound personal loss - the death of drummer Jon Lee - marking a shift in both their sound and emotional direction. The album sees them shifting from raw energy to a more reflective mood that captures their journey through grief, translating it into a refined blend of alternative rock. The production is sharp, with standout tracks like the anthemic 'Just the Way I Am' showcasing an evolving sophistication, while the melancholic 'Tide of Change' and 'Forget About Tomorrow' - complete with orchestral backing - offers introspective moments. But despite the challenging backdrop, the album flows with a sense of optimism too, highlighted by the rousing 'Full Circle'. This expanded version is a celebration of a pivotal period in their legacy, as well as containing a stack of tunes that helped define the era.

Review: The double gatefold edition of The Best Of Bryan Ferry offers a comprehensive look at the artist's illustrious career, with the 20 tracks including two brand-new recordings, the arrival of 'Star' marking Ferry's first new music in over a decade. The compilation opens with the classic 'A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall' and 'These Foolish Things,' setting a reflective tone, before the covers of 'The 'In' Crowd' and the timeless 'Smoke Gets In Your Eyes' proving to be great additions from Ferry's early work. 'Casanova' and 'Let's Stick Together' highlight his evolution into a dynamic solo performer, then side-2 includes 'Slave To Love,' a global hit from the mid-80s, and 'Don't Stop The Dance,' blending Ferry's signature style with new wave influences. LP2 continues with another chart success in 'Kiss And Tell,' and 'Your Painted Smile,' a gem from the underrated Mamouna in 1994. 'I Put A Spell On You' stands out as a testament to Ferry's mastery of covers, while 'Knockin' On Heaven's Door' runs with that amazing talent. The set closes with 'You Can Dance' and 'Johnny And Mary,' encapsulating the breadth of Ferry's career and providing a nuanced view of his musical journey. This compilation offers as much of brilliant career as possible into a 2x12 retrospect while being unique in the additions spanning his career plus the debut of a couple new songs. The king of suave is still making it happen more than 50 years after Roxy Music took pop music by storm.

Review: There’s something timeless about the way this veteran UK singer carries himself and this 2010 album, now reissued on striking red vinyl, makes that all the more clear. It feels like a continuation of the Roxy Music legacy in spirit, mood and style, with that familiar air of suave detachment and immaculate detail. The production here is lush and forward-thinking, bridging classic lounge-pop stylings with modern textures that still sound fresh over a decade later. The sleekness is no accident. Every element is meticulously placed, from the glossy synths to the hushed guitars and orchestral flourishes. 'Shameless' is one of the more adventurous tracks, pulling in electronic flourishes courtesy of Roots Manuva. It’s a bold move that actually works, blending suave vocals with a beat-driven framework that never feels forced. The real surprise, though, is the version of 'Song to the Siren'. It’s a haunting, almost fragile take that shows just how much weight his voice can carry with minimal backing. Easily one of the most affecting covers in his catalogue. 'Tender Is The Night' rounds out the highlights with a melodic, romantic glow. There's an added layer of interest with Brian Eno contributing, creating a sense of full-circle collaboration. Throughout, this album sees a seasoned artist evolving gracefully, without losing the qualities that made him magnetic in the first place.

The album, produced by Dave Ball (Soft Cell), Michael Heffernan, and Riccardo Mulhall, showcases Friday's evolution as an artist, blending rebellion, anger, and introspection into a deeply personal exploration of identity and societal disillusionment. Known as the former frontman of the Irish post-punk band Virgin Prunes, Friday crafts Ecce Homo with a striking mix of emotional vulnerability and defiance, tackling themes like religion, power, and self-liberation. The title track's haunting yet euphoric sound, paired with an AI-generated video, sets the tone for an album that breaks genre conventions while maintaining a sense of triumph. Ecce Homo is a work of fearless self-expression, building on the reflective grief of 2011's Catholic while celebrating the strength found in independence. This album affirms Gavin Friday's enduring artistic presence.

Review: American rock band Garbage have done well to stand the test of time. Their seventh studio album has been influenced by numerology and things such as the seven virtues, the seven sorrows, and the seven deadly sins. It is a ferocious record that chews up and spits out issues of capitalism, love, loss and grief, and is, says frontwoman Shirley Manson, "our way of trying to make sense of how fucking nuts the world is and the astounding chaos we find ourselves in." Bold, confrontational and powerful, this is one of the band's most socially and politically aware albums.

Review: Bleed Like Me was the hugely successful and critically acclaimed fourth studio album from Garbage. Originally released in 2005, the recording of the album had some ups and downs that included the band disbanding during recording and eventually cutting the subsequent tour short as well. Through all of that, the album reached number four on the top 200 Billboard chart which was higher than any of the previous more commercially successful albums. Although none of the songs were hits, the album sits very well with fans of the band. Nearly 20 years later, we finally get a vinyl version of the album! Spread across two lovely transparent red vinyl we get the Deluxe Version. Listen and enjoy one of the best rock bands of the past 30 years.

Review: Much loved indie pop pair Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory served up their iconic debut album on Mute in 2000. It has sold over a quarter of a million records since and was nominated in the Mercury Awards that year. It comes alongside the rescheduled Felt Mountain Live Tour and is often said to be the band's most crucial and influential record. As such it comes on a fitting gold vinyl with a gatefold sleeve included new and insightful sleeve notes from Lior Phillips in an 8pp 12" x 12" Booklet.

Review: English duo Groove Armada is a towering presence over British and world dance music. They have served up countless global hits as well as more underground sounds, and recently their vast back catalogue is back in the spotlight as Late Night Tales have reissued three of their most superb compilations. Off the back of that, now comes this greatest hits album which is billed as GA25: All The Hits & More to mark their quarter of a century in the game. Some of the tunes on it have had a touch-up edit to bring them bang up to date and many of these are still much loved from party starters like 'Superstylin' to more downtempo delights like 'At The River.'

Review: The ongoing success of the musical showcasing his work, the terrific (and very Sheffield-centric) Standing At The Sky's Edge, has done much to remind listeners of Richard Hawley's qualities as a songwriter. He's genuinely one of Britain's best of the last few decades, though the varied ways in which those are presented has not always gone down well with listeners. On In This City They Call You Love - another reference to beloved Sheffield - Hawley returns to the smooth, string-laden sound which marked out his most commercially successful album, Coles Corner. His voice - deep, rich and at this point bordering iconic - naturally takes centre stage on a set packed with touching and thoughtful ballads. It's a winner, but then the majority of his albums are.

Review: While not officially released until 2004, as the title suggests The 1996 DEP Sessions were originally recorded in 1996 by Black Sabbath guitar wizard Tony Iommi and mid-80s frontman for the band Glenn Hughes in the DEP International Studios in Digbeth, Birmingham. Leaked and bootlegged that same year under the title Eighth Star by eager fans (a nod to the previous collab between the pair known as Seventh Star although it was attempted to be passed off as a Sabbath release), that version missed two final cuts and included a random Jethro Tull cover of 'To Cry You A Song' that didn't feature Iommi. Now as 2005's Fused LP receives a long overdue remastered repress, The 1996 DEP Sessions receive the same treatment, having been lovingly restored and remastered one lush limited translucent black ice vinyl.

Review: Originally released in 2005, and considered to be the second solo full-length from nine-fingered metal guitar pioneer Tony Iommi, Fused celebrates its 20th anniversary just a tad early with these revitalised remasters pressed to wax for the first time ever. Written in collaboration with vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes (former Black Sabbath frontman during the mid-80s who would assume vocal duties on 1986's Seventh Star; released under the band moniker but long perceived as Iommi's first solitary creative endeavour), and legendary session drummer Kenny Aronoff (The Smashing Pumpkins, Bob Seger, Willie Nelson, John Fogerty, Bon Jovi etc), this limited translucent cobalt blue vinyl 2xLP pressing comes complete with three sporadically dispersed bonus cuts finally locked down onto own complete home.

Review: Daniel Johns is a bonafide Australian rock powerhouse - with or without bandmates. The primary songwriter, guitarist and frontman of Silverchair, an outfit who among other things claim more ARIA Awards than any other name in the ceremony's history, he's also one half of acclaimed duo The Dissociatives with Paul Mac and shares a second partnership with Luke Steel on the Dreams project.

All that aside, his first solo album, 2015's Talk, reiterated his ability to turn hands to almost any musical style, packing his oeuvre with a range of great ideas. Futurenever is the second lone wolf LP, and backs up the idea that he's insanely talented and relentlessly restless. Across the 12 tracks, we're given great pop in the truest sense ('D4ngersboy', 'Someone Call An Ambulance', 'Freaknever'), huge symphonic R&B balladry ('When We Take Over'), sexy funk ('I Feel Electric'), and stadium emo rock ('Reclaim Your Heart').

Review: The Kinks' fifth album Something Else by the Kinks continued the band's move towards eccentric baroque pop. The music-hall-inflected style centres around the introspective lyrics of Ray Davis, the album also marking the final involvement of American producer Shel Talmy. Nicky Hopkins plays keys on many of the tunes and backing vocals come from Ray's wife Rasa. 'Waterloo Sunset' is the standout tune here and one of the band's most famous singles. The album itself made it onto Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time back in 2003.

Review: Lenny Kravitz's Blue Electric Light is a trip into his signature sonic realm - namely a world of blues-infused rock. It is his 12th album overall and has been preceded by the 'TK421' single which was well received by fans and critics alike. With all the usual gritty guitar riffs, soulful vocals, and pulsating rhythms, Blue Electric Light exudes a timeless cool from the man who is often said to do the same. Kravitz's lyrics resonate with introspection and a touch of mystique, creating compelling atmospheres that mix classic rock influences with more modern sounds to make it another standout record in Kravitz's diverse discography.

Review: Lady Blackbird is the first singer to grace Foundation Music, and you'd best be paying attention to this vital new voice in the realm of soul jazz. Hailing from LA and blessed with a smoky voice to rival some of the greats, one listen to 'Blackbird' is all you need to be utterly captivated. The sultry playing from Deron Johnson, Jonathan Flaugher, Jimmy Paxson and Troy Andrews perfectly matches Blackbird's arresting voice, gliding between stormy explosions and the softest of touches to match the mood. Black Acid Soul is perhaps the perfect description for the music, shot through with a streak of 60s psych but taking it to some dark corners - a true expression rendered in sumptuous, noirish hues.
