Listening to this fine mini album, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Sed Blava is an experienced producer with a gift for fusing electronic styles of the 1980s such as EBM, electro, new wave and industrial. In fact, Nit Sublim is the Barceola-based artist's debut release, something that makes it all the more remarkable. Moody but melancholic with a range of tracks that deliver both dancefloor-focused thrills and John Carpetnter-esque soundtrack sounds, the EP's six tracks ripple with undulating arpeggio-style basslines, sweeping melodies, throbbing machine drums and chords that could be described as both 'glacial' and 'poignant'. Our picks of a very strong bunch include opener 'End Off', heart-aching deep electro number 'Teoria Del Cielo', the sparling 'Secret Sunrise' and the atmospheric, bittersweet title track.
