Review: After a period of roughly three decades, German soundtrack artist and onetime Karlheinz Stockhausen apprentice Holger Czukay shares a surprise trove of lost tapes, which are said to have been once recorded by the artist for "free disposal" and which were presumably forgotten about at the time. Now available, all of said material is said to date back to at least the 1990s, and marks the forward thinking and "ahead of its time" (as remarked by fellow producer Schneider TM) approach to cold Kraut and experimental wave that informed Czukay as he experimented freewheelingly with beatmaking while in the company of further fellows Dr. Walker and Air Liquide. Also evolving in temporal conjunction with an experimental live show involving body tracking tech, fashioned by mixed media artist Arthur Schmidt, there are implicit themes of virtual reality and haptic sound control here. Way ahead of its time indeed.

Review: David Sylvian is best known for his naughties albums 'Blemish' and 'Manafon'- as well as his time at the time of Japan - but at the same time as writing those he recorded a load of alternative material. They took the form of collaborations and side projects with plenty of big names form the worlds of pop, electronic and contemporary classical and are now all gathered together on this Sleepwalkers album. The moods range from romantic to blissed out, sensual to experimental with the likes of the track with Ryuichi Sakamoto, with whom Sylvian has worked for many years, being particular highlights.

Review: Now here's a rarity for you. Not even many of the most committed megafans know that Brian Eno, Holger Czukay and J.Peter Schwalm, accompanied by Raoul Walton and Jern Atai, performed a secret live music show, outside the esteemed Kunst-und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, the Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany, situated in the city of Bonn, in August 1998. Forming a part of the opening party of Eno's Future Light-Lounge Proposal multimedia installation, this furtively-recorded album hears an exclusive slice of incidental "high-altitude food music", of course made during Brian Eno's airborne ambient era. Now reissued via Gronland, this five-piece cut of sophisti-ambi-krauttronica makes for a welcome surprise.

Review: The godmother of German punk Nina Hagen delivers a reissue of her 12th solo album. As one would come to expect, the style of the music isn't a retread of the great Siouxsie Sioux-esque material that she made her name with in the late 70s, this is her a blend of rock, blues, soul and gospel. The material was written at a time when Hagen had just been baptized as an evangelical Christian, so the track listing reflects that passion. Hagen's Depeche Mode cover ('Personal Jesus') has a theatrical, Rock Horror Show-esque edge to it, which works brilliantly. The bulk of the tracks here are covers and with the likes of Blind Willie Johnson and Elvis Presley on here, it's clear Hagan's tipping her hat in all the right directions.

I Can't Pretend To Care (7:57)
Review: A titanic one-off clash LP between Japan's head brain David Sylvian and electroacoustic extraordinaire Stephan Mathieu, Wandermude is a slow and sublime classic for real ambient heads. Reissued for the first time since its release in 2012, the album charts a wealth of mutual interest between both artists; the pair both collaborated first as part of a dual live performance at Noway's Punkt festival, during which Mathieu performed a live remix of Sylvian's song 'Plight And Premonition'. This LP is the result of the same creative thread - whooshing, mysterious and full of raw instrumental material translated into audacious oddities.

Review: Legendary kraut and prog rock duo NEU! aka Michael Rother and Klaus Dinger make the 50th anniversary of their self titled debut album with a special reissue all formats. This limited edition picture disc format is one for the collectors for sure. The music still sounds fresh with its mix of heady ambient and lazy grooves, driving motor kicks and psyched out sounds all making for perfectly immersive listening. Weird and wonderful and unbelievably avant garde for 1972, it remains one of the most impressive debut albums of the era.

Review: It's hard to sum up the brilliance of the interconnected bands which emerged out of Dusseldorf in the 90s, but Neu! are about as perfect a place to start as any. Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother left Kraftwerk and, sparring with Conny Plank in the studio, came up with album after album of steadfast, motorik grooves that stretch out for miles on end. You can dive into any part of the Neu! legacy and it won't disappoint, but Neu! 2 is especially wonderful thanks to the visionary approach to remixing Dinger and Rother took to fill up the second half of the album when the label withheld any more money to record the album. Short-sighted of the label maybe, but it pushed the pair to create something far wilder with wrongspeed manipulation - just listen to 'Super 16' and you'll understand.

Review: Neu! 75 was the third and final studio album from Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother, and many years on it stands proud as a great piece of electronic rock history. Released in, you guessed it, 1975, the album's signature insistent rhythms, phased guitars and propulsive drums continue to sound fresh and retain a vitality that feels futuristic even decades later. This official reissue is a great way to get back into the raw energy and precision that made Neu! 75 so influential with their groundbreaking fusion of motorik beats and experimental soundscapes. It was their finest work, frankly.

Review: Michael Rother from acclaimed wave bands such as NEU! and Harmonia steps out for a new album As Long As The Light that finds him collaborate with Italian musician Vittoria Maccabruni. It is a work packed with dark moods, with towering sonic constructions and plenty of unsettling emotions. They are created by Rother's trademark melodies and expressive guitar harmonies and all eight songs manage to break new ground despite the fact that over the last 50 years Rother has amassed such a fine catalogue. This one is eerie and excellent and will conjure up a mental movie like no other.

Review: If you're going to enlist artists to cover tracks by NEU!, then you best make sure they are of the caliber we see on this track list. The legendary, iconic, and groundbreaking West German krautrock group only gave us three albums, all in quick succession (Neu! in 1972, Neu! 2 the following year, and Neu!75 in 1975), but they made a huge impact in doing so. As such their output could only be retreated with similar aplomb. A quick look on the back of the sleeve here proves someone, somewhere has heeded those words. Yann Tiersen, The National, Fink and more all line up to pay tribute to, and attempt to redirect, the original material. The results range from the rousing chorus and propellant, celebratory rock of 'After Eight' in its They Hate Change Cover form, to the sublime, lo fi folktronica of '4+1=5' by Alexis Taylor.
