Review: Brighton's DNO Records keeps it home-grown with their new 12" as they sign up the talented local multi-instrumentalist Howman. He serves up some sumptuous sounds that are hard to define but easy to love. The artist manages to use an array of tools - guitars, synths, drum machines, keys and vocals - to cook up broody tunes that are part trip-hop, part bass, part techno. Each one has an alluring atmosphere that's sparse yet detailed, with lurching rhythms and plenty of intriguing melodies. Superb work from this rising talent.
