Following on from their staggering 2020 debut EP, 'The Way' New York hardcore/grunge hybridizers Age Of Apocalypse make due on all of their initial promise with, Grim Wisdom. Combining the old school hardcore tropes of their home state with churning, doom-tinted riffage and a unique clean vocal delivery reminiscent of Alice In Chains and Tool, the myriad influences on display coalesce into a thundering, groovy, chugging collection that utilises brevity and heft to conjure a potent outlier formula; constantly weaving in and out of sonic bedrocks while also exuding surprisingly tender melodic moments of respite.
