Expandable 8-part hybrid multi-timbral desktop synthesiser including 4 voice cards
Notes: The ISLA Instruments Caladan Is an expandable 8-part analogue/digital multi-timbral desktop synthesizer module boasting multiple synthesizer engines by way of voice cards. Sharing much of its DNA with Isla's S2400 desktop sampler and the Futuresonus Parva MPE Synthesizer, released in 2015.

Without any voice cards installed, the Caladan has its own internal digital synthesizer engine with playback capabilities of Soundfont (.sf2) and SFZ multisample formats, with the added benefit of being able to run a (possibly multiple) plugin based synthesizer (VST, LV2, CLAP formats). Isla's target for this is 32-Voices (subject to change).

Voice Cards

Caladan has internal slots for up-to 8 voice cards, accessible via an easy access 'trap door' underneath the unit. Said cards are able to be essentially any type of synthesizer, be that pure analogue, digital or a hybrid of both. The voice card API will be open sourced with development kits made available, allowing other designers and developers to create synthesizer cards for use in the Caladan.

Supercritical Redshift 6 6-Voice Analogue Variable Character Synthesiser
Cat: 992873 Rel: 31 Aug 24

Six-voice analogue variable character desktop synthesiser
Notes: Supercritical Synthesizers introduces their first desktop instrument, Redshift 6 - six voice analogue Variable Character Synthesizer

Supermassively dense analogue oscillator combined with a chameleon analogue filter with versatile gain staging. Now sixfold.

Redshift 6 combines technology from the company's previous products, the Demon Core Oscillator and the Neutron Flux Filter. Each of the six voices features a DCO with analogue waveforms generated under digital control. The filter core is an analogue 4-pole state variable filter also digitally controlled to act like almost any classic vintage synthesizer filter and more. In addition to the oscillators and filters, Redshift 6 has all the features expected of a modern synth - plenty of modulators, flexible voice routing, multitimbrality, MPE, and DSP effects.

Redshift 6's idea is something that is wrapped in the moniker "Variable Character Synthesizer". Each voice's analogue path regarding tuning, gain staging, filter, and more is under strict digital control. Redshift 6 has as lush and warm sweet spot inspired by the analogue polysynth tradition, but it can also cover the full range from almost digitally sterile and clean to distorted misbehaviour and beyond. No modelling here - it's all analogue until the bypassable stereo DSP effects processor.

The oscillator, already road-tested in the Demon Core Oscillator eurorack module, is featured in each of the six voices. The oscillator has multiple tricks up its sleeve, each one wrapped as an Engine for the user to choose between. Traditional twin oscillator engines, supersaw engines, flanging phase sync engines, and transistor organ engines are all powerful modes in user-friendly ways that are easily controllable and modulatable.

Redshift 6's six voices can be configured in plenty of ways. Choose between true six-voice polyphony, classic vintage poly dual layer mode with 3+3 voices, six individual voices each with their own patch and physical output, or any combination of the above. Each of the six voices can also operate as a paraphonic voice with up to 16 note paraphony. Additionally, multiple filters can be chained by routing audio from one voice to another.

The form factor of Redshift 6 is a modern, compact desktop device with a 2.7-inch colour screen. Menu diving is reduced to a minimum, with quick navigation via the shortcut button grid. A selection of familiar synth controls are featured on the front panel. A macro mode is included with six user-assignable controls. The back panel features main audio outputs with a DSP effects processor and four auxiliary voice outputs.

One of the major design principles of Redshift 6 is to have a versatile and capable analogue platform and a flexible UI for new Engines, easily updateable via software updates.

Notes: Not your average sequencer

A 16 track algorithmic sequencer at the center of your studio. The T-1 offers a generative workflow with focus on immediacy and playful exploration. Whether on stage or in the studio, the T-1 will inspire you with fresh ideas and help you push the boundaries of your music. In short, this is a fundamental rethinking of the sequencer as a modern, fun and inspiring instrument

This machine speaks music

Enter a creative dialogue with T-1, and let its musical algorithms spark your creative process, or bring it on stage to perform your musical ideas live and spice them up with variations created on-the-fly

It's your instrument

The T-1 can be customized to suit your music. In fact, it is many instruments in one: Each of the T-1's 16 tracks can be set up in one of three modes.

Note: Compose rhythms and melodies from scratch with creative musical algorithms, and tweak them to your desire with detailed step editing.

CC: Take absolute control over sound design with 16 CC knobs and add automation via random modulation and step editing

FX: Create real-time midi fx to expand and transform your musical ideas. Connect a midi keyboard for hands on live performance

Connect to everything

The signal flow of any modern studio is a complex web of analog, digital and wireless signals and keeping your instruments connected and in sync can be a drain for your creativity. The T-1 solves this by communicating via MIDI, USB, analog CV and gates, Ableton Link and Wi-Fi connections with all of your gear.

Musical structure in a knob

Sculpt the timing, tonality and overall structure of your music in the same intuitive way you would a parameter on a synthesizer: By the twist of a knob. The T-1 lets you dial in any rhythm in a manner of seconds with euclidean rhythms.

Want to surprise your audience and even yourself? Add a bit of random modulation or change the probability of a step being played or not. Try the T-1 style looping random modulator

Tangible visuals

What you see is what you get: at every touch of a knob or push of a button, 16 RGB buttons show you the state of the instrument while offering up a quick way to jump to a new setting in real-time

Performing is composing

The T-1 is an instrument designed to be played in the here and now. Whether you are working in a studio or on stage, the path between musical inspiration and performance has never been shorter.

Make relative parameter changes on one or multiple tracks simultaneously, save the changes or return to the starting point. With the T-1, your music making process is a constantly evolving flow

Perfect for live performances, creating soundtracks for movies or theatrical productions, atmospheric soundscapes, microtonal and background music. This is an improved version of its predecessor Elta Music SOLAR 50 model. The SOLAR 42 offers a vast array of sounds that can be created. The instrument is created with the inspiration taken from early electronic musical instruments of the 1920s and 1950s, particularly Leo Theremin's instrument called "Harmoni um", and from the soundtrack of science fiction movie "Blade Runner 2049"

Behaviour:
- single: 12 key mode
- twin*: 2x6 key mode, the parameters are the same for both sides
- split*: 2x6 key mode, but with separate parameters for both sides (e. g.: you can have an arpeggiator on one side, but a basic keyboard controller on the other side)
* in twin and split modes the pressure output acts as the note CV output, therefore pressure parameters (output, rise and fall) have no effect

Arpeggiator state:
- off: the module acts as a keyboard controller
- on: enables arpeggiator

Arpeggiator hold:
- off: the arpeggiator will play only while the keys are held
- on: the arpeggiator will continue to play the last progression after the keys are released

Arpeggiator clock: sets the clock multiplication/division ratio for the arpeggiator

Arpeggiator direction: forward, backward, ping-pong & random

Arpeggiator variation: when enabled the arpeggiated progression will be played again transposed by the selected interval.
- OFF
- x1
- x2
- x3

Arpeggiator variation interval: 1 - 12 semitones

Arpeggiator rhythm: an eight step trigger sequencer placed between the arpeggiators virtual clock input and clock source, applies a rhythmic pattern to the arpeggio. - turn steps on/off

Arpeggiator rhythm length: sets the length of the rhythm sequencer. 1 - 8 steps

Portamento: creates slew limiting effect on the CV output, sets the speed of gliding (ie: how much time it takes to transition from one pitch to the next). 0 - 255

Legato:
- off: portamento is always on
- on: gliding happens only when two or more note plates are touched simultaneously (this parameter has no effect when arpeggiator is enabled)

Vibrato speed: sets the speed of the LFO that's modulating the note CV output. 0 - 127

Vibrato depth: sets the modulation amount. 0 - 127

Vibrato delay: specifies a time delay before vibrato begins to apply until it reaches the full strength specified by the depth parameter. 0 - 127

Vibrato pressure control: when enabled, the modulation amount is altered by the pressure applied to keys.
- off
- on

Pressure output:
- pressure: voltage on the pressure output will continuously follow the pressure applied to key plates
- ASR: attack/sustain/release envelope generator
- AD: attack/decay envelope generator
- LOOP: looped AD envelope generator
- random: outputs a random voltage

Rise: creates slew limiting effect on rising edge in pressure and random modes, sets attack time in envelope modes. 0 - 255

Fall: creates slew limiting effect on falling edge in pressure and random modes, sets decay/release time in envelope modes. 0 - 255

Scale editor: turn notes on/off of the scale applied by the note quantiser, when all notes are disabled the module works as a microtonal keyboard.

Load scale: select and load a preset scale/mode.

PWM Mantis 37-Key Duophonic Hybrid Analogue Synthesiser
Cat: 944640

A unique duophonic hybrid-analogue synthesiser with dual filter, patches and full USB-C MIDI Control.
Notes: Mantis is a unique, duophonic hybrid synthesizer that was co-developed by the late Chris Huggett (of EDP Wasp, OScar & more fame) and is dubbed as a spiritual successor to the OSCar, sporting precision digital oscillators, dual state variable filters and more.

Mantis is a premium synthesizer, sporting a high quality 37-note velocity and pressure sensitive keybed, SSI2164 IC's for the VCF's and VCA's, custom high performance processors for the oscillators coupled with a pristine analogue signal path, which features a twice amplified gain structure for maximum clipping capabilities plus lush stereo digital FX.

The modulation capabilities are vast with:
Two unique ADSR's that feature "sustain fall" that allows you to create a drop before release...even while a key is held for greater sound design possibilities. The envelopes can also be set to cycle.
Two tempo-syncable LFO's with four waves, fade in and fade out parameters and a seriously wide operating range.
Ring modulation available at the mixer
And a unique modulation routing controller with 6 choices of modulation parameters, 6 choices of modulation sources and scale control, which used to scale the effect of the modulation.

In development over the last period of his life Chris threw everything into Mantis. Although incomplete when he sadly passed away in 2020, he handed the project over to Paul of PWM to carry on and continue the project.

PWM, with the support of Chris' estate, think this synthesiser deserves to be born into the world for everyone to enjoy!

PWM MANTIS Key Features:
Hybrid-Analogue Synthesiser, powerful digital oscillators with dual analogue filters
With Mathematically Generated Oscillators with a Pure Analogue Signal Path
A Modernised Design Architecture based on the WASP with an OSCar style filter designed by the late, great Chris Huggett
Duophonic - Two Fully Independent Voices each with 2 Oscillators plus Sub-Oscillator per voice
Dual Filters - Multi-Mode State Variable VCF's with Overdrive per voice that can be combined in Series or Parallel with Width Control
Keyboard - 37-Note Full-Size Semi-Weighted Keybed with Aftertouch plus Joystick
Fully featured Keyboard, Joystick and USB-MIDI Control for Easy Integration with any Studio or Live Environment

Kiviak Instruments Wofi 10-Voice Polyphonic Sampler Keyboard Synthesiser
Cat: 1000935

10-voice polyphonic sampler keyboard synthesiser & sequencer
Notes: WoFI is a portable Sampler keyboard that connects to the internet via WiFi, and features an innovative effect module called Texturer that combines elements of shimmer and granular synthesis to create unique and fascinating sounds. Its compact size and intuitive interface make it an ideal tool for musicians and producers who are always on the move. In addition, WoFI comes with a rechargeable battery, allowing you to create music anywhere you go without worrying about power. You can also share your patches and access sound banks from other sound designers through the mywo.fi community platform. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned professional, WoFI offers endless possibilities for exploring new sonic territories and creating unique sounds.

Features

Player

The Player let you colour your sound with our emulations of classic samplers and their different sample player modes. Make it clean, dirty or anywhere in between.

Enveloppe

Sculpt your sound with the Enveloppe that can be assigned to WoFi's amp, filter or even both.

Manager

With the Manager and its display, get a visual feedback on all your tweakings, manage your sample library, access to mywo.fi content through WiFi and play with the touch strip. Oh, and there is no subscription needed for mywo.fi. Having WoFi gives you free access to community.

Filter

The Filter let you play the WoFi like classic subtractive synthesizers. It's a digital low-pass filter with two different slopes (12dB and 24dB) and a tasty resonance.

Texturer

The Texturer is here to bring you to unexplored sonic territories. Elevate your sound with this effect halfway between a shimmer FX and granular synthesis.

LFO

The LFO let you modulate your creation. With three different wave shapes, assign it to any parameter of the front panel and give motion to the sound.

Sequencer

The Sequencer let you build melodic patterns with the 16 polyphonic steps. It can be used as an arpeggiator. You can have your two hands free to play along the sequence and tweak your sound while it is looping. Oh, and you can also step sequence parameters, which makes it another modulation source in addition of the LFO and the Enveloppe.

Recorder

The Recorder let you either capture a sample from the line in or directly from the built-in microphone. It's easy as pie, pick your audio source with the switch, click on record and voila. Just like with the iconic first keyboard samplers.

Master

The Wofi is made to be played in many contexts, from your couch to the studio, so it has a full connectivity and two stereo audio outputs: one for your headphones and one for a master line-out and the WoFi internal speaker. Set your volumes easily.

Folktek Resonant Garden Electronic-Acoustic Hybrid Instrument
Cat: 983105

Electronic-acoustic hybrid instrument
Notes: The Resonant Garden is an electronic-acoustic hybrid instrument designed to create anything from beats and oddities to dense soundscapes.

The garden utilizes three Alter circuits each equipped with a mic pre-amp, and 4 sprout (stringed) panels for generating acoustics. By plucking, rubbing, tapping or even bowing, those micro-acoustic sounds become amplified and affected by the Alter in any number of ways. In essence, the garden is a large microphone designed to pick up vibrations.

Monolithic vs Discrete

A Monolithic version of the Resonant garden consists of a single faceplate for the entire instrument.

A Discrete version of the Resonant garden consists of 7 faceplates, three for each Alter module and four for the sprouts. The discrete version allows for individual sprout and Alter modules to be moved around or substituted with other modules. Keep in mind the power and audio distribution system is designed for the configuration shown here, but can easily be hand wired with standard cables (sold separately). The maximum depth for modules in the garden box is 33mm.

Effects

There are two Alter 1 units and one Alter 2 unit. Each Alter 1 has seven DSP effects which are selected by touching the copper hexagon:

1 - long delay (capable of near infinite feedback looping)
2 - notated granular delay
3 - plate reverb
4 - shimmering reverb
5 - distortion and multi-filter
6 - pitch delay
7 - stutter glitch

Alter 2 has the following effects:

1 - analogue delay
2 - reverb with infinite capture and lp + hp filters
3 - choral reverb
4 - palindrome reverse delay - backward/forward repeat
5 - time stretch
6 - pitch shift (notated semi-tones
7 - time stretch glitch

Control

On each of the Alter sections, the following is present:
- Control for the gain of the mic pre-amp or any incoming audio.
- Controls for Mix, X, Y and Sift as well as clock.
- All effects have a variation of a filter which may change effect to effect.
- X and Y control various rates.
- Clock control adjusts the rate which controls the DSP which can drastically change the effect. In doing so it does slightly lower the quality of the output signal but the results are fantastic. This clock is not for synchronization.
- Mix, X, Y and Sift all have CV control inputs.
- Each control level or CV input is visualized on the control panel.

Acoustics

Each garden panel is equipped with a contact mic. A contact mic is designed to pick up vibration. The mic pre-amp is specifically designed to deal with the frequencies of the contact mic by boosting certain frequencies and dulling others in order to optimize the sound quality. The mic pre-amp has a gain control so the level can be adjusted according to how you intend to play.

Routing

1/8" stereo inputs with separate level/gain control for right and left channels. These level controls can also act as mute as they can take the signal to 0. They can also add gain to a quiet signal.
In its natural state, each Alter utilizes the garden panel acoustics and each Alter outputs its own signal. By plugging in to the left input of any Alter, the mic amp is bypassed. This means that the signal can be chained from one alter to another, utilizing the single final output. This chain of effects can result in an incredibly broad range of sound.
- use all effects in parallel (3 sets of stereo output)
- use two in series and one in parallel (2 sets of stereo output)
- use all in series (single stereo output)
- peak level indicator for clipping levels at the input

Design

The box is constructed with Sapele African hardwood and a white birch bottom panel. It features anodized black aluminium rails for mounting the faceplates. Each sprout of strings is bolted in from the back and held in place with a backing panel under the main board.
Each box has unique wood grain patterns. The wood grain shown in the images will appear different for each instrument we ship.

Folktek Nano Garden Acoustic Electronic Synthesiser & Audio Effect Processor
Cat: 983110

Acoustic electronic synthesiser & audio effect processor
Notes: Acoustic Electronic "synthesiser" and external audio effect processor with CV control. Little sister of the Resonant Garden.

The Nano Garden is an acoustic-electronic hybrid designed to create anything from beats and oddities to dense soundscapes. From its inception in 2006, the original garden has gone through many changes and refinements: micro garden, luminist garden and illuminist garden and finally this latest and likely final version of what is essentially an expanded micro garden.

The Nano Garden essentially utilizes a single Alter circuit with 7 effects selected specifically for this instrument. Each is also equipped with a mic pre-amp, and 2 garden (stringed) panels for generating acoustics. By plucking, rubbing, tapping or even bowing, those micro-acoustic sounds become amplified and effected by the Alter in any number of ways. In essence, the garden is a large microphone designed to pick up vibrations. Aside from the internal mic, the nano can be used to process external signals with any of the internal effects as well.

Effects

There is a single Alter in the Nano which has seven different DSP effects, selected by touching the copper hexagon. The effect list is different than either Alter 1 or 2 - these are selected specifically for the Nano (this selection is subject to change):

1 - long delay (capable of near infinite feedback looping)
2 - notated granular delay
3 - plate reverb
4 - choral reverb
5 - palindrome reverse delay - backward/forward repeat
6 - pitch delay
7 - time stretch/glitch

Control

- Control for the gain of the mic pre-amp or any incoming audio.
- Controls for Mix, X, Y and Sift as well as clock.
- All effects have a variation of a filter which may change effect to effect.
- X and Y control various rates.
- Clock control adjusts the rate which controls the DSP which can drastically change the effect. In doing so it does slightly lower the quality of the output signal but the results are fantastic. This clock is not for synchronization.
- Mix, X, Y and Sift all have CV control inputs.
- Each control level or cv input is visualized on the control panel.

Acoustics

Each sprout panel is equipped with a contact mic.

Design

The box is constructed with Sapele African hardwood and a white birch bottom panel. It features anodized black aluminium rails for mounting the faceplates. Each sprout of strings is bolted in from the back and held in place with a backing panel under the main board.

Each box has unique wood grain patterns. The wood grain shown in the images will appear different for each instrument Folktek ship.

Included

- Power Supply: 12V positive tip AC Adapter (included) - US - 100-240V ~ 50/60Hz 0.6A

Cosmotronic Messor Stereo Compressor & Transient Shaper Module (silver)
Cosmotronic Messor Stereo Compressor & Transient Shaper Module (silver) (dynamics/dual/stereo/envelope follower/expander/VCA module)
Cat: 995681

Stereo compressor & transient shaper module - 8HP
Notes: Messor is an analogue stereo compressor with lots of tricks up its sleeve, in only 8HP.

From squashing drums, sidechaining kicks and sculpting transients, to glueing a mix together, it's a very versatile dynamics manager.

At its core it's a VCA based feed-forward compressor with a low noise signal path. The magic is in the internal sidechain that shapes the gain reduction envelope. This starts with a a switchable high-pass / low-pass filter, before going into a precision envelope follower, controlled by familiar parameters: the attack, release, threshold, ratio and makeup gain.

The ratio can go past limiting and into over-compression, which can completely reshape transients, a great tool for sound design.

Being modular, of course there are CV inputs for Attack, Release and the side-chain Filter cutoff. The Gain CV controls the makeup gain, but also doubles as a Stereo VCA with the Gain knob turned fully CCW.

The gain reduction envelope is also available as an output, for turning filters or other VCA's into compressors for example, or as a standalone envelope follower.

There's a bypass switch, and a Warm mode, that can bring in a bit of additional saturation and compression in the form of analog tube simulation circuitry.

Lastly there's the possibility to insert an external sidechain, for that classic kick sidechain compression.

Moog Spectravox Semi-Modular Analogue Spectral Processor
Cat: 1012812 Rel: 31 Jul 24

Semi-modular analogue spectral processor
Notes: Spectravox, the newest member of the Moog semi-modular family, is a groundbreaking tool for sculpting sound. An analog spectral processor based around a 10-band filter bank, Spectravox creates lively drones and colorful tonal sweeps on its own and adds resonant depth and psychedelic spectral movement to any external sound. Hook up a microphone and Spectravox becomes a 10-band analog vocoder with innovative integrated modulation of all of its filters. An exploration and expansion of the topology of the vocoder and filter bank, Spectravox is a highly flexible instrument and signal processor with a comprehensive patch bay for integration into studios of all sizes.

Synthesists have delighted in playing with the spectrum of sound since the Moog 907 Fixed Filter Bank appeared in the 1960s, creating lush vowel tones and multicolored timbral animation with hands-on level control of each frequency band of a sound. Unlike earlier fixed filter banks, however, the unique filters of Spectravox are no longer fixed in place and will jointly shift around the frequency space, allowing for the creation of otherworldly voltage-controlled spectral animation and vibrant phaser-like sweeps. With 10 filters whose variable resonance can morph from soft precision to shimmering choral effects, Spectravox reshapes the sounds you love into surprising new forms and brings a new world of sonic possibilities to your studio.

Spectravox is a fascinating standalone sculptable synthesizer voice thanks to its built-in carrier sound source of a thick analog Moog oscillator and white noise generator. With its combo XLR/jack program input, Spectravox becomes a fully featured 10-band vocoder with a secondary filter bank for analyzing the spectral makeup of incoming sounds. In VOCODER mode its 10 analysis filters map the timbral characteristics of any external sound onto any other sound you can imagine. Shape the warm analog oscillator of Spectravox with the dynamics of your voice, or use a drum machine to animate guitar chords in a mesmerizing broadband percussive space.

Spectravox uses the pioneering vocoding work of Bob Moog and Wendy Carlos in the late 1960s as its inspiration-work which was based on Homer Dudley's original designs from the 1930s and which was used to prominent effect in Stanley Kubrick's 1972 film A Clockwork Orange. Innovating further from these early designs, Spectravox uses 10 state-variable filters for its filter bank, all 10 of which are capable of being shifted with its internal triangle wave LFO or external control voltage. With the ability to emphasize vowel sounds via the Hiss and Buzz functionality of the Moog 16 Channel Vocoder, Spectravox is both a major step forward for analog filter banks and a loving exploration of early music technology history.

Scramble the frequency spectrum and create wonderfully unpredictable textures with patch points for each filter in the filter bank and included patch cables. Add analog warmth and subtle phasing to digital synthesizers and sound sources. Integrate Spectravox with other Moog semi-modular instruments or Eurorack modules with an extensive patch bay providing control over almost all of its parameters. Spectravox is a boundary-pushing instrument that invites you to explore creative new ways of shaping and sculpting sound.

Pittsburgh Modular Voltage Lab 2 Standalone Dual Oscillator Semi-Modular Analogue Synthesiser
Cat: 1018251 Rel: 31 Aug 24

Innovative modern analogue synthesis laboratory with integrated touch controller
Notes: The Pittsburgh Modular Voltage Lab 2 is a cutting edge synthesis laboratory that offers a new palette of analogue textures and waveforms to sonic researchers. Newly developed wave shaping capabilities paired with powerful synthesis tools, and a deep, performance oriented controller join together to create a complete sound design laboratory. This instrument has a very physical sound. The tones it creates feel natural and alive, with traditional waveforms becoming the seeds of unique new shapes and sounds that shift between analogue physical modeling and more unfamiliar, abstract timbres.

Laboratory Oscillator 1

Voltage Lab 2 includes a pair of Laboratory Oscillators. Each with a unique set of newly invented waveshaping tools designed to expand the sonic potential of analogue synthesis. Laboratory Oscillator 1 introduces Center Clipping to analogue synthesis. Center clipping unlocks independent control over the top and bottom of the waveform, allowing for detailed manipulation of harmonics and timbre without affecting pitch. It does this by processing waveforms from the center out as opposed to traditional methods which work from the peaks inwards.

Laboratory Oscillator 2

Laboratory Oscillator 2 introduces a host of new sonic possibilities with two new waveshapers. Pulse Symmetry and Reflection. Pulse Symmetry creates a new species of pulse wave that adds a step between the top and bottom of the waveform. The resulting wave looks like a set of stairs where the depth of the center step can be adjusted in addition to the pulse width. Wave Reflection takes the bottom half of the waveform and reflects it onto the top half. Each waveshape responds to this differently. For example, a saw wave morphs into a triangle while triangle and sine waves lose their fundamental harmonic and jump up an octave.

Pittsburgh Dynamics Controllers

The new Dynamics technology imparts Voltage Lab 2 with a uniquely organic depth and presence. By simultaneously managing both amplitude and harmonic content, the Pittsburgh Dynamics Controller expands beyond the one dimensional VCA found in other synthesizers. It does this by utilizing new advancements from traditional low pass gates to add additional definition and dimension to the voices of the Voltage Lab 2.

When used in low pass gate mode, sounds shed harmonic content and become warmer as they decrease in volume. This mimics how sound waves react to their environment. Because of this connection, the Voltage Lab 2 sounds more natural or complex compared to other instruments.

Touch Controller 2

The Touch Controller 2 enables artists to blend traditional pitched performances with the freedom to openly experiment, creating a flexible playground for music creation. Two independent channels offer a combination of real time, expressive playing and in-depth sequencing. Assignable scales, step conditions, jumps, chance effects, generative sequencing, and a host of other tools, come together allowing musicians to both create and interact with complex systems.

A Florist and Echos

The Voltage Lab 2 includes a set of analogue time based effects, Florist and Echos. The Florist is a flanger/chorus hybrid that focuses on brighter, short time shifts with highly controlled feedback allowing for maximum ringing before self oscillation. Echos is a more traditional, darker analogue BBD delay that also utilizes highly controlled feedback to provide a larger number of repeats before falling into self oscillation. Both effects are perfect for traditional workflows and unconventional experimentation.

Complete Set of Modular Tools

The Voltage Lab 2 includes a host of fully modular, analogue and digital synthesis tools to support and enhance it's core functionality. Analog tools include flexible mixers, a pair of complex function generators, noise, sample and hold, and an LFO. Digital tools cover external MIDI, arpeggiator, and a robust chance sequencer. The Voltage Lab 2 toolset is deep enough for all types of sonic experiments.

Dnipro qTone Dual Channel Voltage Quantizer Module
Cat: 1006240 Rel: 30 Jun 24

2-channel voltage quantizer module - 6HP
Notes: qTone is a module that precisely transforms any kind of voltages into musical notes. Take the LFO, a Random source, or the Sequencer outputs, send them through the quantizer to your oscillator or synth voice, and enjoy perfectly tuned melodies.

It has a bank of 16 user-defined scales that can be easily edited, and automatically saved into memory. qTone saves every change into EEPROM so you can be sure to get back to the last state after power on.

Both channels can work independently with their own scale each, or with a common scale as well. Aside from the Scale, it is possible to set Glide, Offset, and Transpose parameters. The Glide parameter performs a smooth portamento between quantized notes. Offset shifts an input CV up or down, which works as an offset before quantizing, while the Transpose parameter shifts a scale after quantizing by semitones.

The 2 CV inputs are freely routable to any parameter in the CV menu. qTone works with unipolar or bipolar signals, in the range from -5 to +5 volts.

Folktek Alter 2 Effects Processor Module
Folktek Alter 2 Effects Processor Module (delay/effect/filter/pitch shifter/reverb module)
Cat: 983094

Effects processor module - 16HP
Notes: Alter 2 is an effects processor for Eurorack format. There are two versions of the Alter which are visually identical except the names "Alter 1" and "Alter 2". This is Alter 2. Internally, 1 & 2 have an entirely different set of effects from the other. Each version features 7 unique and meticulously designed DSP effects.

Control

- Controls for mix, X, Y and filter as well as clock.
- All effects have a variation of a filter which may change effect to effect.
- X and Y control various rates, feedback and time over the different effects.
(note that some of the images shows a prototype which says "rate" under two of the pots. The faceplate has been changed to X and Y.)
- Clock control adjusts the rate which controls the DSP which can drastically change the effect. In doing so it does slightly lower the quality of the output signal but the results are fantastic. This clock is not for synchronization.
- Mix, X, Y and filter all have CV control inputs.
- Each control level or cv input is visualized on the control panel.

Ins and outs

- Stereo inputs with separate level/gain control for right and left channels. These levels can also act as mute as it can take the signal to 0. They can also add gain to a quiet signal.
- Peak level indicator for clipping levels at the input.
- Mono input is made stereo within the DSP and outputs to both left and right channels.
- Stereo outputs for right and left channels.

Effects

The effect is selected by the hexagonal touch pad. The effects for Alter 2 are as follows:
1 - Analogue delay
2 - Reverb with infinite capture and LP + HP filters
3 - Choral reverb
4 - Palindrome reverse delay - backward/forward repeat
5 - Time stretch
6 - Pitch shift (notated semi-tones)
7 - Time stretch glitch

Korg Minilogue XD 4-Voice Polyphonic Analogue Keyboard Synthesiser

One of our favourite synths of 2019 and still amazing value. Analogue meets digital, offering hugely versatile sound in the same compact, user-friendly format as the original Minilogue.

Supplier's notes:
An evolved next-generation analogue synthesizer with huge potential for sound design and performance. We wanted to deliver a next-generation analogue synthesizer for a new generation of musicians new to analogue synthesis. That dream was realized in the development of the minilogue, which instantly made the analogue synthesizer approachable.

In addition to emphasizing the same real analogue sound and joy of controlling an electronic musical instrument offered by the original minilogue, the minilogue xd newly adds a digital multi-engine, effects, a powered-up sequencer, and micro tuning functionality, further expanding the possibilities for sound design and performance potential. Minilogue xd is a fitting addition to the original groundbreaking minilogue.

Four-voice polyphonic analogue synthesis. The analogue synthesizer circuit of the minilogue, whose genuine analogue sound had a huge impact on the synth world, has been further developed for the minilogue xd.

Voice structure of minilogue xd is 2VCO + MULTI ENGINE, 1VCF, 2EG, 1VCA, and 1LFO. In addition to the distinctive circuits found in the series, such as wave shaping to shape the overtones of the oscillator and a sync / ring switch, there's also cross modulation, a sharp two-pole filter, and a drive switch that adds thickness and drives signal into minilogue xd's filter. Every parameter has been tuned in detail based on what musicians want out of their synth. The sounds range from the warm pads typical of analogue to fat basses and crisp lead sounds, covering every situation.

Of course, programs that you create can also be saved in the unit. Out of the box, minilogue xd comes loaded with 200 presets, and a total of 500 programs can be saved.

Equipped with a digital multi-engine:

The additional sound design possibilities of digital sound are delivered by the multi-engine that's provided as a third oscillator in addition to the two analogue VCOs. This engine, which is equipped with three different types of sound generator (noise, VPM, and user slot) lets you take advantage of a sonic character that's different than analogue, and use it at the same time as the analogue engine, infinitely expanding the potential of hybrid sound design.
Noise generator

The noise generator provides four types of noise that are indispensable for percussive sounds or for sound effects. You can use the digital filter to directly change the colour of the noise.

VPM oscillator:

minilogue xd's multi-engine features a VPM (Variable Phase Modulation) / FM oscillator with a two-operator structure. It can produce sharp, metallic sounds with complex overtones beyond the possibilities offered by analogue systems. With 16 types of oscillator and a SHAPE knob control, you'll be able to create complex sounds intuitively.

User oscillators:

User oscillators allow you to load your own oscillator programs that you created or obtained via the internet. There are 16 user slots, as well as one type of morphing wavetable oscillator provided as a preset.

High-quality digital effects:

minilogue xd's high-quality digital effects use 32-bit floating point DSP processing, adding a finishing touch to its deep sound design platform. The three types (modulation effects, reverb, and delay) can be used simultaneously, letting you choose from a wide range of variations including chorus, ensemble, warm tape delay, and a diverse variety of reverb. The user effect slots allow you to load your own effect programs that you've created.

User customization brings out infinite potential:

The minilogue xd features a customizable open environment. The unit comes with 16 user oscillator slots and 16 user effect slots that you can customize. Oscillators and user programs that you've created with the SDK (Software Development Kit) can be loaded into the minilogue xd via the dedicated librarian software.

Polyphonic step sequencer controlled by 16 buttons:

The step sequencer provides 16 steps, and supports both realtime recording and step recording. You can use the 16 step buttons to select a step directly, allowing quick editing to replace the pitch of a step or to mute it, or even improvisatory performances. Motion sequence lets you record the movements of up to four knobs, adding time-varying change to the sound, and you can record not only smooth changes in value but also values that change precisely at each step. You can use this to design the sound differently at each step; for example, you might create a drum pattern or sound effect from just a single program. This allows countless ideas to be unleashed.

Kaona Zazou Generative Music Module
Cat: 1014976 Rel: 31 Jul 24

Function generator, random & sequencer module - 18HP
Notes: Zazou is a Eurorack music creation module that combines generative music and jazz elements, designed to seamlessly integrate into both modular and MIDI environments. It employs advanced algorithms to generate sequences and improvisations, enabling diverse musical exploration. Zazou offers musicians a structured yet flexible approach to music composition.

Key Features

Connectivity: Zazou features a multitimbral MIDI output and Eurorack-compatible CV outputs, facilitating integration into your existing setup.

Interactivity: To trigger notes, Zazou relies on "gate" signals from sequencers or other generators, harmonizing seamlessly with devices like Skippy, Kaona's algorithmic rhythm generator.

Musicality: Zazou adopts a note division similar to keyboard instruments, fitting within equal temperament instruments with numerous scales and across 10 octaves.

Channel Versatility: Zazou handles four independent channels, offering fine harmonization possibilities for complex arrangements.

Interactions and Controls

Varied CV Inputs: Seven CV inputs, including one gate per channel (red, yellow, green, blue), a "Reset" input, a "Change" input, and a "Play/Stop" input, provide precise control over musical dynamics.

Intuitive Manipulation: Seven buttons and three encoders offer swift interaction, allowing detailed sequence management and real-time adjustments.

Diverse Outputs: In addition to MIDI output, Zazou features 12 CV outputs, spread across gates, velocity, and notes, maximizing musical variation options.

Folktek Alter X Multi-Effects Pedal
Cat: 983098

Multi-effects pedal
Notes: Alter X is the pedal version of Alter 1 eurorack module featuring four 1/4" jacks in addition to 1/8" as well as buffered switching that allows for trails.

Though it functions the same as other pedals, this pedal is a little different. Most pedals are made for guitars and then artists may choose to use them in different ways. Folktek made this pedal to work with either standard 1/4" jacks (for both input and output) or 1/8" (3.5mm) jacks for use with anything else. For those who like to use CV (control voltage) for any eurorack format, cv keyboard, or pedals which output cv (e.g. expression or sequencing), all four of the main knobs have cv inputs (mix, x, y, filter) so you can control your knobs without touching if the desire strikes you.

These pedals accept guitar, line or eurorack levels.

The enclosure is very thick, gold plated PCB (it's very, very tough).

Included power is standard for most pedals (2.1mm, -tip)

Folktek wanted a broad array of effects in each X and Y pedal so each is a mashup of effects which complimented one another when used together. Running X into Y or vis versa creates some powerful changes.

Control

- Controls for Mix, X, Y and Sift as well as clock.
- All effects have a variation of a filter which may change effect to effect.
- X and Y control various rates, feedback and time over the different effects (note that some of the images shows a prototype which says "rate" under two of the pots. The faceplate has been changed to "X" and "Y").
- Clock control adjusts the bitrate which controls the DSP which can drastically change the effect. In doing so it does slightly lower the quality of the output signal but the results are fantastic. This clock is not for synchronization.
- Mix, X, Y and filter all have CV control inputs.
- Each control level or cv input is visualized on the control panel.
- Buffered relay-based bypass over 1/4" ins and out.

Ins and outs

- Stereo 1/4" ins and outs.
- Stereo 3.5mm inputs with separate level/gain control for right and left channels. These levels can also act as mute as it can take the signal to 0. They can also add gain to a quiet signal.
- Peak level indicator for clipping levels at the input.
-Mono input is made stereo within the DSP and outputs to both left and right channels.
- Stereo outputs for right and left channels.

Effects

1 - long delay
2 - notated granular delay
3 - plate reverb
4 - shimmering reverb
5 - distortion and multi-filter
6 - pitch delay
7 - stutter glitch

Specs

- Power: 12v negative tip AC Adapter (included) - US - 100-240V ~ 50/60Hz 0.6A

Der Mann Mit Der Maschine Moto Kit Performance Sequencer Module Bundle
Cat: 1013069 Rel: 31 Jul 24

Performance sequencer module bundle: MASTER18, P2B8, B32 & 2x M4's
Notes: This kit is two things at once:

1. A full featured total innovative musical performance sequencer controlled by motor faders and haptic feedback.

2. A powerful self contained Droid setup with motor faders that can do and can be anything - at a very good set price.

The sequencer

Let's talk about the sequencer first! In the configuration that it is shipped, it has four independent tracks, each controlling one voice, either via CV/Gate plus extra modulation CV, or via MIDI. MIDI connectivity is provided with two DIN/TRS (mini jack) outputs and one USB port. In our free software "Droid Forge" for Windows and Mac there is a tool called "patch generator", which allows you to not only configure the MIDI routings but also decide about the feature set and even the button layout.

The modules come all prepared so that within a few minutes the sequencer is setup and ready to go. Once your are satisfied with your configuration, you can use the include stickers to label the buttons of your modules (as shown in the images).

This Droid motor fader sequencer is very unique and innovative in many ways. Most importantly the direct control with the motor faders makes it stand out. The big faders allow easy instant control and real "playing". In the normal mode, each fader represents one step in the sequence. With eight fingers you can change eight notes at once.

When you switch to another track or to another function within the track (e.g. to the velocity / modulation CV), all faders immediately move to the correct position of these settings, so you can immediately see what's going on and change the values without any "pickup", as is necessary for sequencers with normal sliders.

When you edit alues that are stepped in nature - first of all the selected notes of the scale - the faders use ther tiny motors to give you haptic feedback! For every note you feel a little notch. You can change by say exactly two notes by feeling the notches and don't need any display for hitting the correct note.

Musical functions

The Droid motor fader sequencer is built to improvise and play music, for being creative, finding new melodies, and everything right in the moment - a perfect tool for live performances, but also for jamming and recording in the studio and get inspired. It does this not only by its unique haptic interface but also by including lots of interesting musical features and algorithms - all of them accessible by a single button press.

Chord note selection: Use seven buttons (on the P2B8) to select those notes from the scale that are allowed. Play with these buttons to temporarily make a melody simpler and more complex, again. Or change its harmonic structure but removing the root and third and add the ninth or 13th. Since all seven notes are part of the scale, you can never go astray, however. You will always by "in tune", even without any knowledge of music theory.

Diatonic transposition: Shift up and down a melody by a number of notes - within the scale and within the selected notes. One simple movement of a fader brings a great and refreshing alteration to your melody. Touch one button and you are back to normal.

Built-in arpeggiator: Press one button to switch from the sequenced melody to an algorithmically created melody - based on the same scale and selected chord notes. More than different controls change the played pattern - all of them can be combined, which creates millions of melodies - without any randomness!

Pitch accumulator: The note of one step moves up or down within the scale by one or two notes every cycle of the sequence. So with just one little setting, you can create a 32 step melody from just 8 steps.

Conditional gates: For example play a step just every second time. This doubles the length of the sequence and creates musical variations - without need of randomness.

Mini arpeggiator for reapeats and ratches: Make every repeat of a step (you can repeat each step up to 16 times) use a different note. Similar for the ratchets (ratchets divide a step into multiple faster sub-steps).

Inversion: Press just one button and lower notes get higher and higher notes get lower - like a vertical mirror of your melody.

Forms like AAAB and AABB: Split up your melody into two halves - for example 16 steps are split into 8 and 8. The first half is called A, the second half is B. Now A is played three times, than once B. So the essential length of the melody is double, in a very musical way.

Activity: For each step select an activity level that is needed for the step to be played. Then with a global fader you select the activity. This allows you to make your melody more sparse or more complex - in a very controlled way and again without any randomness.

Autoreset: Restart the sequence after a fixed number of clock cycles. This is done with one fader with virtual notches.

Shift steps: Again with one fader, rotate all steps. The changes the musical timing of your melody in relation to the rest of the tracks. Again this can be undone with one flip of a fader.

Transpose by root: When this is turned on, your melody is transposed along with the root note whenever that changes.

Contents of the Moto Kit

The Moto Kit is a selection of five Droid modules. Even if you don't need a sequencer, you get these modules for a very good price as set. Or maybe your start with the sequencer but then use the free Droid Force software to change the configuration, change some of its features, add new features. Droid is a super flexible universal CV processor that is not limited to sequencing!

The Moto Kit contains the following ingredients:

MASTER18

BLL Instruments Elyra 16-Voice Virtual Analogue & FM Synthesiser
Cat: 1007744 Rel: 30 Jun 24

16-voice virtual analogue & FM synthesiser
Notes: It starts with a dream

We are all fans of synthesizers, their vintage sound, classic and modern at the same time, their ability to mix several timbres. We love the musical journey that transports us while listening to each new presets.

We also like guitar and bass. Standing or sitting, in your studio or on stage, playing on guitar or bass is this tremendous energy, this way in which the intensity of the playing is in total connection with the music you want to create. A sweet ballad, a melodious arpeggio, a hell of a bass line, a stratospheric lead, an awesome riff.

What if we could express all that but with a great synth sound?

The dream came true, and even more!

A modern synth played like a guitar or a bass

Elyra is played with the typical gestures of playing guitar and bass and all the energy that comes from it. You play with your whole body.

There are two strumming aera for strings, one dedicated to back and forth and another dedicated to bass and arpeggios.

Elyra is designed to be played by both right-handed and left-handed people.

You can also play it placed on a table or on your knees like a groove box.

A powerful and unique composition tool

With up to 16 voices polyphony, spread across 16 instruments/layers and with is powerful sequencer, Elyra is more than a groovebox, it is a composition tool.
You can have one instrument with 16 voices or 16 instruments with one voice and everything in between.

Because Elyra is battery powered, you can carry it anywhere with you and play for several hours.

You can play and sequence all your other instruments via MIDI port.

A sound engine is made for this instrument by Kodamo.

At the core of Elyra there is a powerful and beautiful sound engine created for by Kodamo.

It is a virtual analogue engine based on subtractive synthesis with just enough FM synthesis to offer a vast sound territory.

It has many parameters to sculpt and create a unique sound.

Electronics and wood

Elyra is made of electronics and wood.

The electronic parts are designed in France and comply with environmental standards and in particular RoHS.

The body of the instrument is made of wood. It is cut and assembled in France. The wood is only chosen from sustainable or recycled sources.

Elyra is built to last.

Raised touch buttons

All Elyra buttons are touch sensitive pads made up of a slightly raised area allowing the user to feel physical feedback.

This is capacitive sensor technology which offers an extremely fast response time of 2 ms.

There are 5 distinct areas on the main panel:

the fretboard composed of 4 * 12 pads
the strumming area separated into two types, A and B
two assignable sliders
an OLED screen with its wheel and its 8 contextual buttons

Guitar/bass mode

At first you need a double trig to play a note in Guitar or Bass mode: the hand on the fretboard selects the note to be played, and the other hand uses one of the two strumming areas.

Each one of the four strings has its own two strumming areas.

The strumming area A, is made of a long and very thin relief pad. It is ideal for playing back and forth on one or more strings.

The strumming area B, is a double pad surrounded by holes in the main layer, it allows both bass type playing and is ideal for playing arpeggios.

Elyra retains the essential subtleties of guitar playing, when a note has just been played you can also, like in guitar, slide to another note, or do a Pull-off or a Hammer-on without using the strumming area again.

You can use the slider with your thumb to bend the notes.

Elyra can be tuned according to your needs. there are basic tunings, like the first 4 strings of a guitar E, A, D, G, or any open tuning, or like a Ukulele.

You choose the root notes of each string, and the choice is specific to each track in one project.
