London's Place No Blame, set up and launched in 2016 with a killer head to head between the then relatively unknown DJ Slyngshot and Nippon legend Japan Blues, has finally re-surfaced from the depths. While this is only the label's second outing, it's clear that its head man, the enigmatic Zeno Cosini, prefers to deal in quality over quantity. From our own fleeting exchange with him, this is an intention rather than a random occurrence - "people need the truth now more than ever", was his only answer. Unsurprisingly, this new EP from the equally cryptic Michael Ferragosto seems like a perfect match; not only does the Italian put out a limited quantity of music, but we also believe it to be among the very best out there; from Muzique to his own Private Collection, each track has a rare honesty and mystery to it. These four killers are pure murder on the system - "Acid One" stomps its way with a heavy bass, "Bell'Acid" rips and tears the groove up with toxic 303 lashings, "Jack Me" is pure, heartfelt Chicago soul, and "Tour The Vibe" stretches the acid template to new levels of DIY funk.
