Review: A special remastered version of Blunt's album Back To Bedlam, on its 20th anniversary. The album, originally released in 2004, includes the global hit 'You're Beautiful' and was one of the best-selling albums of the year. This special edition has been remastered for 2024 by Stuart Hawkes at Metropolis. Blunt humorously acknowledges that while he's released seven studio albums, Back To Bedlam is the one that resonates most with listeners. With his trademark honesty and charm, Blunt quips about re-releasing the album to "milk it for all it's worth," highlighting his self-awareness and enduring popularity.

Review: ***B-STOCK: Creasing to corner of outer sleeve but otherwise in excellent condition***

'Brat' is Charlotte Emma Aitchison's sixth studio album as Charli XCX, the follow-up from her "sell-out era", 2022's 'Crash' which topped multiple charts and gave the British pop singer a newfound notoriety that she had long been deserving. A longtime collaborator with PC Music founder and Beyonce-credited producer A.G. Cook, whose production can be found in the album's latest double single 'Club Classics/B2b', Charli is returning to her roots of dance music and electronic pop - a far cry from the hazy alt-pop she launched her career with. Following the launch of 'Von dutch', the lead single produced by PC Music producer EASYFUN (aka Finn Keanne), Charli has gone on record saying that this is her best body of work - a title that once belonged to the cult classic mixtape 'Pop 2' - and it's easy to see why, the blaring synths and honed in club music focus is unlike anything anybody in the mainstream pop sphere is doing right now. Pressed on a translucent black vinyl, and coupled with one of the best album covers maybe of all time, it's never been a better time to be one of Charli's angels.

Review: Charli XCX's Brat And It's The Same But There's Three More Songs So It's Not is the deluxe edition of her groundbreaking album Brat, now pressed on white vinyl. This edition highlights Charli's unique ability to merge avant-pop artistry with mainstream sensibilities and since its release on June 7, 2024, Brat has garnered widespread acclaim, earning a spot on the Mercury Prize 2024 shortlist and achieving Gold status in the UK with over 100,000 copies sold. The deluxe version coincides with Charli's first UK #1 single, 'Guess,' which is featured in this expanded release. Known for her relentless innovation in pop music. Her influence on modern pop - not to mention wider culture, as the massive viral Kamala Is Brat meme proved - and this release simply further cements her position as a trailblazer.

Review: Charli XCX's Brat marks her triumphant return to the underground roots that shaped her, while still commanding the mainstream spotlight. With singles like 'Von Dutch' and 'Club Classics', she delves into the world of warehouse raves and nostalgic Ministry of Sound vibes. Following the success of Crash, which soared to number one on the UK charts, 'Brat' promises to be a bold club record layered with high art references and social commentary. Charli's avant-pop prowess shines through as she effortlessly blends confrontational lyrics with infectious beats. Brat shows Charli XCX's enduring influence and innovative spirit in the realm of pop music. This version comes complete with gatefold jacket and clear pink splatter vinyl.

Review: A compelling epilogue to the already legendary Brat, an exploration of sub-mainstream pop stardom, delving into anxieties around commercial success via tracks like 'Rewind' and 'Sympathy Is a Knife'. Musically, it's a diverse and experimental space, as Bon Iver, Jon Hopkins, The Japanese House and more take on remix duties, and although the songs are pushed into unexpected sonic territories the influence of a key producer remains clear. Glitchy electronica, pure pop moments and surprising combinations create a dynamic listening experience - the collaborations on tracks like '360' and 'Girl, So Confusing' are particularly effective.

Review: Kelly Clarkson's latest and eighth studio album Meaning Of Life is a powerful statement for the longtime Nietzschean pop singer, being one of her first to be explicitly influenced by American soul and r&b. Aiming to bring back the vivacity of certain vocal greats like Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin - memories of whom are now crystallized into the American subconscious as intractable parts of the nation's history - Clarkson aims to summon a rejuvenated spirit for an otherwise divided, turbulent, bitter country.

Review: Foster The People return with their highly anticipated new album, Paradise State of Mind, marking their first release in three years. Produced by frontman Mark Foster alongside bandmate Isom Innis, with additional contributions from Paul Epworth, Jack PeNate, Chrome Sparks, and Asa Taccone, the album was crafted in studios across London and Los Angeles, including the iconic Studio Three at East West Studios, where The Beach Boys recorded Pet Sounds. Paradise State of Mind features standout tracks like 'Chasing Low Vibrations,' 'Take Me Back,' and the infectious lead single 'Lost In Space,' blending elements of psychedelia, space-age sounds, 80s anthems and dramatic disco strings. The track's official music video, directed by award-winning filmmaker Rupert Holler, has already made waves online.

Review: If there is a more hyped artist in the world right now than Fred... again we aren't sure who it might be. The lad who grew up close to Brian Eno and has since worked with him in the studio is a global star who has also collaborated with Four Tet and Skrillex, played all over the world, won various awards and dropped several albums now presses up his acclaimed USB to gatefold double vinyl. It is a collection of his early singles that captures his lo-fi, lived-in, diaristic sounds across a range of experimental electronic styles.

Review: Fred Again's new LP Ten Days is decidedly minimal in both visual and sonic feel, making for a well-put-together exercise in chic dance summeriness, one that manages to feel, paradoxically, nostalgic for the present moment. If the crux of Fred Again's appeal rests our vicarious enjoyment of his evidently voracious enjoyment of life, then this is equally as reflective in the music here, with 'Adore U' skimming through pitch-warped vocals sampled from Obongjayar's live performance dedicated to his sister and mum, as if to immortalise them in a rush of frenetics and lightness of being, and 'Ten' equally playing up the bare skeletals of snap-rims, warbly samples and ever more pitch-effecting, this time on Jozzy's vocals. Less earnest than his outing with Brian Eno, and more dedicable purely to the young adult gaieties of summer, Ten Days marks a little over a weeks' worth of fun, tinged with a tiny hint of melancholy.

Review: Four years after Test for Echo, Rush fans were eagerly awaited new material. Geddy Lee broke the silence with his solo debut, My Favourite Headache, now reissued on vinyl. Teaming up with guitarist Ben Mink and drummer Matt Cameron, Lee delivers a fresh, contemporary sound that departs from his band's previous work. The album kicks off with the aggressive bass lines of the title track, but soon surprises with a skanky guitar and a killer buzz-riff. Tracks like 'The Present Tense' rock hard, while ballads like 'The Angel's Share' showcase Lee's versatility. 'Working at Perfekt' blends both styles seamlessly, and standout choruses in 'Slipping' and 'Runaway Train' remind listeners of Lee's knack for grand, sweeping melodies. Lyrically, Lee steps out from Neil Peart's shadow, blending metaphysical musings with everyday reflections. His vocals have never sounded more assured, adding to the solid songwriting and performances throughout. This vinyl reissue highlights My Favourite Headache as a strong solo effort that stands on its own.

Review: The Marias' latest album, Submarine, plunges listeners into a journey of solitude and self-exploration. Born from the depths of heartbreak, the album encapsulates the sensation of being submerged in one's own thoughts, yet emerging with newfound clarity. Lead single 'Run Your Mouth' shedding subtleties for an intoxicating dancefloor anthem that beckons listeners to lose themselves in its hypnotic rhythms. Maria Zardoya's ethereal vocals, backed by Josh Conway's top notch production, create an irresistible allure that seamlessly blends indie dance with a hint of detachment. The track's narrative delves into themes of conflict avoidance and self-protection, resonating with those navigating emotional complexities. The Marias invite listeners to embrace vulnerability and surrender to the depth and beauty awaiting within the tracks of their sophomore album.

Review: The sophomore studio album of American indie pop band The Marias, Submarine comes as the sequel to their debut record Cinema, and the trequel to the 'Superclean' EP. Preceded by the lead single 'Run Your Mouth', the album is a representation of solitude and exploration; in the band's own words, the act of choosing to be alone and listening to what the heart needs and not what it wants. The band's preferred mode of representing this visually is cryptic underwater videography; lyrically and sonically, we find ourselves submerged in vats of slick, glossy funk, amid lyrical themes of conflict avoidance and gossip; both serve as effective conduits through which we may find ourselves dancing and reflecting at the same time.

Review: Dainty but global pop star Bruno Mars is a veteran of many chart hits and loveable party singles but can also pen a solid album. This one was his multi-platinum sophomore and it came laden with jams like 'When I Was Your Man' and 'Locked Out of Heaven' along with fan favourites such as 'Treasure' and 'Gorilla.' They all showcasing Mars' versatility and across the record, he blends r&b, pop, reggae, rock, disco, funk and soul. The dynamic production lineup includes talents such as Mark Ronson, Jeff Bhasker, Emile Haynie, Diplo, Supa Dups and The Smeezingtons who all add their own touch to Mars' fine pop artistry and ability to seamlessly explore a wide range of styles to make for a fun collection of high-energy music.

Review: Following her successful Trilogy tour, which spanned the US, UK, and Europe, Melanie Martinez has reissued her 2019 K-12 album on some mad pink and milky clear vinyl. It was a gold-selling record that also charted in the Top 10 and includes hits like 'Teacher's Pet' and 'High School Sweethearts'. Both are irresistible pop ditties that sit amongst many other seriously catchy and well polished sounds such as 'Wheels On The Bus and 'Show & Tell'. A wonderfully feel good record.

Review: Australian singer-songwriter Sia adds to her indelible repertoire with her tenth full-length studio album, Reasonable Woman. Preceded by singles 'Gimme Love' and 'Dance Alone', this album marks a turn to form for the singer and visionary, whose prior sweats include This Is Acting - which marked a temporary egoless phase, having been made up entirely of songs she wrote and composed for other artists, including Labrinth and Diplo - and Music, which accompanied a full-length musical drama film also directed, with a complementary album, by the artist. Having been waiting in the wings for at least four years now, Reasonable Woman is as surreal a set of pop ballads as our imaginations would permit, employing bubblegum aesthetics and mysterious, identity-masking wardrobe on the visual side of things.

Review: Sia's Everyday Is Christmas brings a fresh take to the holiday music scene with a mix of festive cheer and pop creativity. The album shines in moments of joy and playfulness, particularly with tracks like 'Santa's Coming for Us', which is upbeat, catchy, and perfect for getting into the holiday spirit. The lively rhythm and fun chorus make it one of the standout songs that can easily become a seasonal favorite. 'Underneath the Mistletoe' is another highlight, showcasing Sia's impressive vocal range and delivering a more emotional, heartfelt vibe that feels both modern and timeless. It's one of the stronger ballads on the album, allowing her voice to take centre stage without the distraction of heavy production. While tracks like 'Puppies Are Forever' may feel whimsical and geared toward a younger audience, they add a playful touch that can be enjoyable in the right context. The album overall strikes a balance between upbeat holiday anthems and softer, reflective moments, like 'Snowman', which brings a quieter, more sentimental tone. Everyday Is Christmas is a refreshing mix of fun and festive charm, with enough variety to appeal to listeners of all ages.

Review: Teddy Swims' voice is the star of the show hereiwarm, gritty, and effortlessly soulful. As the tracks unfold, there's a clear commitment to balancing raw emotion with polished production. It's the sort of album that delivers heartfelt, introspective lyrics, yet never lets go of a sense of accessibility. The instrumentation keeps it grounded, with lush arrangements that never overpower Swims' delivery. With a balance of light and dark, this part of his journey hints at something more substantial ahead, capturing moments of vulnerability without overstating them.

Review: Teddy Swims' rise continues with I've Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2), the follow-up to his hit-packed debut album's first half. 2024 has seen Swims soar, especially with his chart-dominating single 'Lose Control' which reached #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 and #2 on the UK charts, amassing 2.3 billion streams and securing spots in Spotify's "Billions Club." Swims' blend of vintage soul, classic rock and pop, honed through years fronting Atlanta bands, finds new depth here with tracks that balance raw emotion with modern production finesse, establishing Swims as a star to watch.

Review: The seventh album from Columbus, Ohio duo Twenty One Pilots, who've been fusing hip-hop with rock and pop influences since their formation in 2009. As anyone who's following the singles preceding the album dropping will have realised, from the low key, intimate hip-hop affair 'Backslide' and the breakbeat-led 'Overcompensate' to the Supergrass-on-speed raucousness of 'Next Semester', it's their most diverse and accomplished as well as - we reckon - their most successful LP in a lengthy career.

Review: Originally released in 1996, October Rust would serve as the fourth full-length from gothic metal legends Type O Negative, as well as the highly anticipated follow up to their 1993 career-height Bloody Kisses. Known for its markedly less gloomy doom metal approach when compared to prior and subsequent projects, the album has grown a devout cult following due to the extensive number of unabashed ballads and compositionally accessible goth rock bangers (reliably shrouded in their own sonic malaise). Boasting the hit single 'My Girlfriend's Girlfriend' as well as their much-adored cover of Neil Young's 'Cinnamon Girl', many could consider October Rust to be the most accessible entry point to those intimidated by the prowess, hair or jawline of the incomparable visionary Peter Steele. Now almost 30 years young, this long overdue reissue comes spread across a limited green & black marbled vinyl 2xLP pressing.

Review: ***B-STOCK: Sleeve slightly split, otherwise in excellent condition***

The latest cinematic, self-aware brand-milking is the new Barbie film, directed by Greta Gerwig and which stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken. Of course, it wouldn't be as ironically plastic as it could be without contributions from the most eminent artists in modern pop music on the soundtrack - from the likes of Lizzo, Dua Lipa, Nicki Minaj, Charli XCX, KAROL G, The Kid LAROI, Khalid, PinkPantheress, GAYLE, Ava Max and FIFTY FIFTY. It didn't quite lean as much as it could have done into hyperpop, but the soundtrack is no less fun, being as glitzy and squeaky-clean as you could possibly get.

Review: Telling the story of a teenage girl battling thyroid cancer which has spread to her lungs, and the amputee osteosarcoma survivor she meets and falls in love with at the support group her mother encourages (forces) her to attend, suffice to say emotions run high in The Fault In Our Stars. A bonafide tearjerker, both in its original novel and subsequent 2014 movie form, anyone who wasn't expecting the score to the latter to be filled with huge rousing and heartrending indie pop was kidding themselves. Here we have it, then, opening on Ed Sheeran, into Jake Bugg, Kodaline, Lykki Li, M83, Ray Lamontagne and Charli XCX, the track list reads like a map of Gen Z coming of age with a few treats for millennials, and plays out like a radio station that lives up to the 'killer no filler' claim. Providing, that is, you're moved by stadium-sized balladry, sing-along chart dance and shoegaze-y electronica.

Review: The Twilight Saga: New Moon OST features a stellar lineup of indie and alternative artists. With contributions from Thom Yorke, Death Cab for Cutie, Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver, St. Vincent, and Muse, the album brings together a diverse and talented group of musicians. Thom Yorke's 'Hearing Damage' stands out with its jittery synth-rock, capturing the emotional intensity of the film. Grizzly Bear's collaboration with Victoria Legrand on 'Slow Life' and Bon Iver's duet with St. Vincent on 'Roslyn' add ethereal beauty to the soundtrack. Death Cab for Cutie's 'Meet Me on the Equinox' delivers a powerful anthem, while Lykke Li's 'Possibility' showcases her haunting vocal prowess. Even the more upbeat tracks like Hurricane Bells' 'Monsters' and Sea Wolf's 'The Violet Hour' bring a refreshing energy to the mix. The album encapsulates the melancholic and romantic themes of New Moon, making it an essential companion for fans of the series and indie music enthusiasts alike.
