Review: Here is the exact sort of record you will want tube stocking up on as we head into the warmer days and brighter nights of summer. It comes from the Adarce label which us well known for diggin' into the vaults for timeless Spanish grooves and top reissues of funk, disco, rumba and library records from the sixties and seventies. And this is the latest, with a nice happy mix of Flamenco pop sounds with fast grooves, sunny moods and hook riffs, beats and melodies all set to warm you right to your core.

Review: Flamenco rumba fusion from Latin America became Catalan rumba thanks to the inspirations that came over from Cuba and Puerto Rico in the early 1960s. Add in the pop sounds from the British Invasion and American pop of the late 1960s and you have this rich melting pot of rhythm and sound that makes up this collection of so-called Spanish gypsy soul and funk from the seventies. It is a colourful and freewheeling collection that takes in intoxicating sounds like Dolores Vargas's 'La Terremoto La Borracha' next to the instrumental funk of Bambino's 'Ven Aqui Junto A Mi' and plenty more besides.

Review: The Adarce imprint has, so far, made quite the impression on us. Their 2017 was marked by three stupendous reissue compilations, with all of them offering insights into the most niche corners of Spain's musical heritage; the third of which has dropped a little bit later, kicking off 2018 with a Gypsy bang! Naino uncovers a rare and overlooked corner of the country, the Gypsy rumba sounds spanning the years 1974 to 1984. Every track on this beast is a keeper, making the so-called Gypsy 'Kings' sound a little frail by comparison. So, we dont know the majority of these artists, but it's safe to say that they influenced one of Spain's greatest bands, and have probably had an effect on the rest of the country's cultural heritage. This is a sublime collection of rhythmic dance and non-dance songs that'll leave you humming endlessly. Even the techno heads around here have copped a copy!
