The ever-busy Swede brings his club-ready side to Will Bankhead and Joy Orbison’s label.
The festival’s affiliated label will release recordings from last year’s edition in July.
Manchester party meandyou. have booked the double act for a night in Northern Quarter venue Soup Kitchen and we have a double pass to give away.
The new album from the Swedish renegade will be released through his eponymous label.
The Swedish producer lands a four-track EP on the Glaswegian label that’s free to download.
A third solo release from the Swedish synth expert, closing out a trilogy of EPs, is set to arrive on his own label in early September.
Along with the infamous blonde wig, it seems Peder Mannerfelt wears many hats as an artist. Whether it’s his intense live solo act (wearing said hairpiece), the imaginary soundtracks with Malcolm Pardon as Roll The Dice, or his former time with Van Rivers as The Subliminal Kid (known for producing such acts as Fever Ray and Blonde Redhead), he certainly keeps busy. It comes as a fitting installment then that he unveils one of his most ambitious projects yet on Peter Van Hoesen and Yves de Mey’s experimental label, Archives Intérieures.
The first release for Shifted’s label in 2015 will be a five-track EP by the Swedish pair.
The London promoter will expand operations with the launch of an eponymous label in May.
The Swedish artist will release an album on Archives Intérieures inspired by European colonialism in Africa.
We have a full stream of the Swedish producer’s forthcoming five-track release on Peder Mannerfelt Produktions.
With their third album proper, Swedish duo Roll The Dice are once again moving on from what they have done before. Peder Mannerfelt (better known as The Subliminal Kid) and Malcolm Pardon have never stuck to one formula with their collaborative project, moving from their delicate beginnings on Digitalis to the more rounded analogue synth work of their last album In Dust on The Leaf Label. It’s been some time since that release and in the mean time their focus has shifted to a more dramatic musical outlook, drawing on both orchestral assistance and political and social jump-off points to arrive at this ambitious statement of a long player. There are many stated issues to consider with Until Silence, largely focused around the existential crisis of humanity in the 21st century.
With a third Roll The Dice album out and a renewed production focus under his given name, Peder Mannerfelt takes some time to discuss matters with James Manning.
The third album from the Stockholm-based pair is due for release on The Leaf Label in June.
Talk about a transformation. Peder Mannerfelt is best known to this writer for his work as The Subliminal Kid, a project that focused on dance floor techno, but how the Scandinavian producer is perceived is set to change with the release of Lines Describing Circles. It seems that Mannerfelt has forsaken streamlined rhythms in favour of something much more experimental and freeform. The label claims that it is Mannerfelt’s intent to ‘crush the listener into a perfect, metal cube’, which sounds painful and uninviting. That said, there is no doubt that Lines Describing Circles is in places a demanding listen, but a rewarding experience nonetheless.
Peder Mannerfelt has always been Peder Mannerfelt, only he’s generally been known as The Subliminal Kid or as one half of Roll The Dice. So with Swedish techno experiencing a purple patch of production at the moment with the likes of Northern Electronics introducing Varg and Acronym to a broader audience, while labels like Kontra-Musik go from strength to strength with each release – and don’t forget we’ll always have Skudge – it seems now is the perfect time for Mannerfelt to break through. As The Subliminal Kid, the Swede’s productions for labels like Ann Aimee, Still Music and the short lived F suggest there’s an alive and breathing modular system pumping through them, similar to the techno you’d hear from someone like Freerotation festival’s Steevio or the Modular Cowboy label. Producing under his real name however, Mannerfelt’s experiments in synthesis have taken a turn, not necessarily away from the dancefloor, but into an uncharted world of sonic experimentation.
Seven freeform compositions by the Swedish producer will introduce his new label.
The Roll The Dice member will release his debut album under his given name on Digitalis next month.
We Can Elude Control’s second release for 2013 will be two live recordings from Peder Mannerfelt.
