There is a sense of mutual appreciation apparent between meandyou. and Workshop that has worked in the favour of the former so far. A relationship that began publicly with Kassem Mosse, Lowtec and Even Tuell playing meandyou. events has developed further since the Manchester collective branched out as a label. The debut meandyou. 12” featured Kassem Mosse, whilst an early live set from the Leipzig native at one of their Manchester parties was issued on tape last year. Workshop co-founder Even Tuell now features on this later split meandyou. 12” named Bookbinders to further honour the now-closed Manchester venue they used to throw parties in.
A fourth record from the Manchester collective features music from Even Tuell, Testtoon affiliate Sensu and Spectrum Spools artist Fabric.
The Mancunian collective will release an archived live recording of Gunnar Wendel playing his first UK show in 2009.

The variance of Manchester collective meandyou. has meant an easy slip into label work from their Manc Soup Kitchen shows – the ‘various’ records with four artists (each consciously related, indebted, or otherwise foundational to the party line) has seen a natural extension of the founders’ natural promotional style, valuing growth through the meanderings of house residents and the relationships they throw up.
The meandyou. resident reaffirms his status as one of the UK’s most interesting selectors with an hour’s worth of bubbling electronics.
It’s always interesting to observe well-established event promoters branching out into the label world. Quite often those responsible are in an enviable position, having forged real-world relationships with their guests over the years and as such being able to call up a favour to give a fledgling label the kind of kick start that can make all the difference in an ever-increasing world of 001s. It’s fair to say that Manchester collective meandyou were able to do just that in snapping up Kassem Mosse for their first release, and in truth he gave them an absolute beast of a track, but they offset that by showcasing lesser known talents as well as their own local heroes Juniper. It was a wise move to reach for a well-known friend, and the results were exemplary, but on this second release all bets are off as the curation draws on a list of lesser-known acts and as such places the music out front.
A second split release from the Manchester-based collective is due next month.
Releases from Claremont 56, Studio Barnhus, meandyou and Honest Jon’s were amongst last month’s best dressed records in town.
