Snorre Magnar Solberg is a Norwegian DJ and producer who recently contributed a podcast to the Juno Plus series and who runs the Club No-No label. His work has been previously described as ‘rainforest techno’, but if this fourth release on his imprint is to fit that description, then the trees would be shrouded in grey mist, the plants’ berries poisonous and the animals that inhabit it wary to venture out before dusk.
The man from Club No-No comes through with a selection spanning spectral ambient, darkly techno, gritty tribal rhythms, straight up rave tracks and other obscurities.
Snorre Magnar Solberg offers up a third Club No-No 12″ with said characters Torstein Mills & Tom Ace.
It won’t be long until Club No-No is a name familiar to the unique and esoteric bend of house music being released by labels like Acido, SUED and Sex Tags. Snorre Magnar Solberg, aka Club No-No, is the newest personality to appear in this peculiar universe of stray house and techno strung together by artists like Dynamo Dreesen, SVN and DJ Sotofett – swap Fettburger for Sotofett and all played Solberg’s project launch last year – and it seems as though the Norwegian’s developing, yet already distinct style is helping introduce a unique nuance to an already newfangled sphere of electronic music.
