Ian Blevins joins ESP Institute

Ian Belvins

The UK producer will release a two-track single on Lovefinger’s label in November.

In a year that has seen a release schedule continue to outdo itself, ESP Institute reveal in yet another essential addition to their canon in the shape of emergent British artist Ian Blevins. Although he may only have a modestly sized discography, Blevins has been plying his trade as a DJ for many years, from holding down residencies at We Love… in Ibiza to touring through renowned clubs across the globe. He may not reflect the more fringe tendencies of many of the ESP signings, but he’s been earning his stripes as a producer for labels such as Saft and Keep It Zen, amongst others. ESP meanwhile scored big earlier this year with the Karamika album from Black Merlin and Musiccargo, not to mention the recently announced EP from Japanese artist Powder, and two more instalments in the Mecanica series from 33.10.3402.

The Hannibal / Welcome Aunt Poly single certainly sounds comfortable in the clubbier corners of the ESP remit, featuring plenty of sizzling drums and yearning arpeggios, played out with a direct attitude that should find favour across all kinds of dancefloors. As ESP put it themselves in their ever-wry label text, “Ian Blevins is from England but he’s quite the dude… These two songs will increase your serotonin levels.” Immerse yourself in the sound of Ian Blevins by way of the SoundCloud clips below.

ESP Institute will release Hannibal / Welcome Aunt Poly by Ian Blevins on November 13.
