Plastic People reopens with a bang

Patrice Scott, Gadi Mizrahi, Keith Worthy and Tim Sweeney are among the DJs set to grace the decks at the newly reopened Plastic People.

It signals an impressive return to form for the tiny East London nightspot, which has been closed for the summer while renovations take place. The aforementioned acts will all appear at the upcoming Warm parties (full details below).

Only time will tell whether the refurbished venue will retain the same intimacy, feel and sound: according to various Twitter posts from Benji B, the revered Funktion 1 soundsytem will be replaced by 3-way passive studio monitors, and the location of the DJ booth has also changed.

There were serious concerns earlier this year that the venue could shut its doors for good, after being served with a closure notice, but negotiations between the Hackney Council, police and club management appear to have been successful.
