Plastic People to close for summer

Plastic People will close its door for the summer, while refurbishments take place to get the club up to scratch in the eyes of the police and local council.

The Deck Queenz, who run a regular night at the Curtain Rd venue, today posted a Facebook event billed as the ‘Plastic People summer closing party’.

A comment from the Deck Queenz on the Keep Plastic People Alive Facebook page said talks with the police and the council were “going OK so far”.

“We plan to close for 6/8 weeks for refurbishment and should be back (by the) end of July/early August,” the post added.

“Otherwise, it’s business as usual and no, we’re not moving.”

The blow to London clubbers follows hot on the heels of news that 2,600 capacity nightclub Matter will shut for the summer too – albeit for totally different reasons.
