Mikrodisko offers Lifetime Subscription
MM/KM, Throwing Shade and volt. ctrl feature on the Leipzig label’s new record.
Along with ://about blank in Berlin and local club Institut für Zukunft, Mikrodisko is one of the organisations that has sprouted out of Leipzig’s Homo-Elektrik collective that first emerged at the turn of the 21st Century. Wonderfully infrequent in their output, Mikrodisko have released music from Boys R Us, Kann co-founder map.ache, Lowtec, Kassem Mosse and Mix Mup over the past ten years with their most recent 12” outing Drive-By from the latter artist. Issued back in 2012, that Mix Mup 12” has been followed by a series of low-key cassette releases but next month will see Mikrodisko release a new record.
First alluded to by Mix Mup in the interview with Rose Mardit published on this site last year, Lifetime Subscription is a split artist affair with vague consumerist themes at play. “With this thing M10 subscribed you to, a whole universe has opened its doors to you: the fantastic world of subscriptions. a lifetime of offers and wonders, choices and decisions. a place where everything is possible … as long as you subscribe,” states the brief press release. Mix Mup and Kassem Mosse contribute a MM/KM production, Boys R Us appears under his volt. ctrl name and Throwing Shade makes her Mikrodisko debut with the producer, DJ and NTS host having ties to Leipzig through her previous Mystic Places 12″ for Ominira.
Mikrodisko will release Lifetime Subscription by Various Artists in April.
