Berlin Atonal’s The Long Now line up for 2016 announced

The Long Now

Rashad Becker & Moritz von Oswald, Murcof, Klara Lewis, Miles Whittaker and Nina announced.

Since Berlin’s Atonal festival lifted itself from an extended hiatus in 2013, the experimental, ambient and noise bending event now ranks up there as one of the world’s best assemblies of sub-culture and forward-thinking electronic music. It’s a festival we’ve covered since 2014, with our Berlin-based writer Nic Tuohey spending 16 hours at last year’s The Long Now, a subsidiary event associated with Atonal, which took place inside Berlin’s giant Kraftwerk building. The 2015 edition of The Long Now took in performances by Mika Vainio, Thomas Köner of Porter Ricks and Actress, to a chill out set by Mix Mup and Kassem Mosse which Tuohey said “gave the feeling of the audience being in their living room.”

Atonal have now revealed The Long Now will return to Kraftwerk in 2016 with this year’s edition running for 30 hours non-stop across March 19th and 20th. Headlining this year is an intriguing collaboration between Rashad Becker & Moritz von Oswald and Northern Electronics’ Dan Vincente, aka Acronym. Italian artist and Important Records alumni Caterina Barbieri will take to the stage with a new live show as will Recorded Fields Editions’ Robert Curgenven. For names more familiar, Biosphere and Murcof return to Atonal for another year, the former said to be playing an extended ambient concert, in addition to a performance by Edition Mego’s Klara Lewis, while DJ sets will come from Miles Whittaker, Nina and Objekt.
