Frak align with Dark Entries

The San Francisco label will issue the Sudden Haircut EP from the Börft trio this month along with a 12″ of Lena Platonos remixes by Red Axes.

Although Dark Entries is known best for its extensive archival trawls through the italo, post punk and industrial canon of the late ’70s and early ’80s eras, the label does on ocassion adopt a more contemporary focus. The most recent example of this being the superb Meditations/Industry album by Texas-based Bill Converse which arrived only last month. Exciting news now arrives from Dark Entries HQ of February plans to present a record by arch Swedish funsters Frak along with a 12″ of Lena Platonos remixes from Tel-Aviv pair Red Axes.

Taking the name Sudden Haircut, the upcoming Frak record pairs up a title track the Börft trio recorded last year along with three cuts that originate from a studio tape they found called ‘FRAK “After The Silence” 2001-2010’. Two of the productions made it to the Börft EP released on Sex Tags Mania in 2012, whilst closing track “First Glimt I Ögat” was apparently first laid down in 2001 and has remained unreleased until now. Fans of Frak’s deranged live performances will be happy to see their trademark tin foil hats have made it onto the sleeve design from Eloise Leigh.

Complementing this, Dark Entries are also returning to the Lena Platonos album reissued last year by inviting prolific production pair Red Axes to remix four of the tracks from Gallop. Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi picked out their favourite tracks from the album, resulting in “Witches” and “And We Hear “I Love You” being turned into trademark Red Axes dancefloor tools. “No. 9” and “Liqueur Ruby” are given more esoteric and trippy treatments by the Tel Aviv duo with the latter featuring middle eastern rhythms by associates The Dirty Lizards. You can preview both 12″s below ahead of their arrival later this month.
