The hooded DJ and producer lands a debut LP on the Zenker Brothers’ label.
Outside of the Zenker Brothers themselves, names making an impact on Ilian Tape include Andrea, Stenny and Skee Mask. The latter, a Munich-based DJ and producer, has been granted an album release by Ilian Tape which provides the German label with a second full length title following the Zenker Brothers own debut Immersion album from last year. Entitled Shred, the 12-track LP seemingly expands on the producer’s love for all things snow with track titles like “Backcountry”, “Japan Air” and “Everest”, while the music itself is described as “the sound of a peaceful and energetic place.”
To date, Skee Mask has released two 12″s of which both landed on Ilian Tape over the past two years, with the debut Serum 12″ particularly impressing, while the German has also done the one remix for London young gun J Tijn. With a debut album now set for an early February release, the greater extent of Skee Mask’s sound is ready to be unleashed and you can’t expect a mixture of UK-inspired dance beats, ambient melodies and German techno with dubby and atmospheric textures abound. Furthermore, Ilian Tape sound particularly proud of this record by writing, “the dedication, attention to detail and architectural approach really make this album an absolute trip to listen to.”
Ilian Tape will release Shred by Skee Mask on February 1.
