Typesun meets Jason Fine on DBA Dubs
The line between Bristol and Detroit is traced on the latest 10″ offering from the Don’t Be Afraid offshoot.
Amid tantalising whispers of a debut M GUN album scheduled for forthcoming release on Don’t Be Afraid, the label’s first point of business for 2016 is another round of the transatlantic DBA Dubs series. Launched in summer 2012, the infrequent 10″ series has thrown up some interesting combinations so far, with Max D’s self-explanatory Snares Down The Stairs Mix of Adjowa and the startling Madteo take on Lily among our personal favourites here at Juno Plus. The sixth release in the series lands in February and sees Bristol producer, drummer and DJ Typesun share sides with Kontra-Musik and FXHE man Jason Fine.
Make It Right sees the Falling Up resident enlist the respective vibraphone and guitar-playing talents of Empirical’s Lewis Wright and Miles James along with a whole host of local Bristol musicians for a glistening instrumental house cut inspired by “the great soul and rare groove producers of the past.” Complementing this, DBA boss Semtek has persuaded Fine into contributing his first ever remix, which steers the production into vintage Detroit house territory.
Don’t Be Afraid will release Make It Right by Typesun on February 5.
