Ishan Sound aligns with Hotline Recordings

The Young Echo man will issue a double pack through the local label later this month.

Given their sprawling and prodigious nature, it is no surprise to feel like new music from the Young Echo collective surfaces on a near-weekly basis. Just a few days after news arrived confirming Ossia’s debut proper for Blackest Ever Black, the focus shifts to fellow Young Echo man Ishan Sound with full details arriving of his impending debut on the Hotline Recordings label. True to form, the evasive, phoneline-driven label has been slipping out hints of a new release, their second of the year following Batu’s Numen, for the past few weeks with online teasers complemented by some local poster campaigns in the Bristol area.

Due to disseminate throughout record shops next week, Hotline 008 will arrive in the shape of a rather hefty (and yellow) double pack featuring six tracks from Ishan Sound and Rider Shafique. The more eager-eyed among our readers will recognise lead track “Militant Mindset” from the Ishan Sound podcast broadcast on this site earlier this year, whilst this Hotline release represents the artist’s second double pack of 2015 with a self-titled 2×12″ arriving on Peng Sound in February. A handy YouTube playlist of all six Ishan Sound cuts can be streamed below, and qualifies Tape Echo’s description as a “high-grade selection of his less-dubwise, more club-orientated material.”

Hotline Recordings will release Hotline 008 by Ishan Sound vs Rider Shafique on July 27.
