Videogamemusic prepare DJ Hotel reissue

The Japanese producer’s self-released Hope EP will get a tape edition thanks to the South London label.

Covering the emergence of videogamemusic was one of last year’s more pleasant activities for us at Juno Plus, with the South London tape concern fully invested in exploring sonic concepts with the willing assistance of the international community of spool shapers. This year has seen the label narrow their focus on the US tape scene with charming cassette releases slipping out from Discwoman affiliate UMFANG, Michael McGregor’s M/M project and Nadia Khan (whose Open Interior tape for Where To Now? remains a favourite here).

The next videogamemusic release sees the label looking East and adding archivalists to their list of activities with a reissue of Hope, a self-released EP by Japanese producer DJ Hotel. Put out digitally through the sound designer’s own bandcamp page in late 2013, the seven tracks of delicate electronic deconstructions evidently found a distant fan in videogamemusic. Next month will see them issue the Hope EP on cassette backed with a quite exquisite ‘Vacancy Version’ of “Ghostbusters” by fellow DJ Hotel advocate Best Available Technology. You can stream that in all it’s subtle glory below.

Videogamemusic will release the Hope EP by DJ Hotel on August 3.
