Honey Soundsystem announces label relaunch
Releases from Bézier and Jackie House next month herald the San Francisco collective’s return to the label game.
Overseen by the quartet of Jason Kendig, Dark Entries label head Josh Cheon, Jackie House, and Robert ‘Bézier’ Yang pictured above, Honey Soundsystem has been bringing a sense of style to San Francisco nightlife since 2006. In this period, the collective have added residencies in LA and Chicago, as well as play host to a wide variety of highly regarded selectors with this two hour set by Silent Servant from 2013 offering some highly recommended insight into the Honey Soundsystem approach. In addition to running the clubnight, the quartet set up an affiliated record label HNYTRX in 2010 issuing several cross format releases and mixtapes before entering a period of dormancy in 2013.
News now arrives the label will be relaunched next month under the name Honey Soundsystem with records primed from Jackie House and Bézier. It turns out Jackie House, aka Jacob Sperber, was responsible for A&R on HNYTRX but put the label on hold to spend some time in the studio and has resulted in the Skydive 12″ which features a remix from Matrixxman. Due for release at the same time is Bézier’s 皆 12″ which pairs up the unreleased title track with two productions from Yang that previously featured on an earlier HNYTRX compilation and a Jacktone cassette. It represents the second Bézier release of the year following news of his soon to arrive Telomeres 12″ for Dark Entries. You can preview both upcoming Honey Soundsystem 12″s below.
Honey Soundsystem will release 皆 by Bézier and Stydive by Jackie House on August 14.
