Henry Street and Clone are Old School Junkies

HSM

The influential New York house label collaborates with Rotterdam’s best diggers to reissue some of the label’s most loved music.

Set up by Johnny De Mairo in 1994, New York label Henry Street Music was first recognised for putting out the music of Kenny Dope, DJ Sneak, Mark Kinchen’s brother Scotti Deep, and of course, Armand Van Helden’s chart topper “The Funk Phenomena”. As Resident Advisor report, the famed New York label is celebrating its 20th anniversary by re-releasing some of its most cherished material in an on-going collaboration with Clone Records. So far in 2014 the label updated Ralphi Rosario’s “You Used To Salsa” with two remixes from Italian artist Deep88, put out another record by Washington DC duo 95 North, gave new life to Tronco Traxx’s vogue classic Walk 4 Me and reissued the Play The World / Good Time 12″ by JohNick, a project De Mairo formed with Nicholas Palermo Jr.

House music personality Armand Van Helden is next in line to receive the reissue treatment with a 2014 version of Old School Junkies set to contain four tracks from two records of the same name originally released in ’95 and ’96. Van Helden’s “The Funk Phenomena” makes the cut as does Juno Plus favourite “All Right”, while Clone and Henry Street Music have also made it known they will reissue New York house legends Mateo & Matos’ The No Props EP, first released in 1995. Preview Old School Junkies below.

Henry Street Music and Clone will release Armand Van Helden’s Old School Junkies and The No Props EP by Mateo & Matos in mid-November.
