Ontario Hospital have Perfect Skin
Get a taste for Future Ready, an upcoming Opal Tapes release from the Ontario Hospital pairing of Teste’s Dave Foster and Rich Oddie of Orphx
Between them Foster and Oddie have quite a collective pedigree in terms of influence on modern techno and industrial music thanks to their respective roles in Teste and Orphx. As part of the former short-lived project, Foster played an integral role in the establishment of a deep and hypnotic approach to techno with early ’90s record The Wipe. As a recent Dusted Down feature on this site detailed, the record helped introduce a style of techno that is still adopted today by the likes of Rrose, Dozzy and Mike Parker. Oddie has has been exploring the crawl space between techno and industrial music for over 20 years as part of Orphx alongside Christina Sealey, initially via cassette only releases and later becoming a integral cog in Adam ‘X’ Mitchell’s Sonic Groove label.
Given the coverage for both Teste and Orphx on this site of late, news of the duo appearing on Opal Tapes under the collective Ontario Hospital banner is most exciting. The Future Ready 12″ is due later this year and follows the pair debuting the Ontario Hospital project with the “Delirium Tremens” contribution to the Sulla Giostra Nell’Ombra split 12″ from Violet Poison back in February. Whilst full details remain under wraps, F Squared Media’s Dominic F. Marceau has been enlisted to bless the Power Electronics of “Perfect Skin” from the record with a well suited video which you can view below.
