Pioneer announces DDJ-SX2 controller for Serato DJ

The new controller is designed to make the most of Serato DJ’s freshly announced Flip feature.

The first controller to be designed specifically for use with the Serato DJ software, Pioneer’s DDJ-SX controller offered the usual jog wheels alongside a four-channel mixer and two sets of performance pads to control hot cue, roll, slicer, and sampler functions. Pioneer have today announced details of its successor, designed specifically to take advantage of Serato DJ’s new Serato Flip feature. Announced earlier this week, the feature allows DJs to record and replay hot cue sequences on the fly.

The new DDJ-SX2 controller looks much like its predecessor and has most of the same features. However, the new model sports an improved set of performance pads inherited from Pioneer’s top of the range DDJ-SZ controller. Now featuring multi-coloured LEDs to assist with cue points, the velocity-sensitive buttons also allow for more dynamic control of sample volume. In addition, the DDJ-SX2 features enhanced jog wheels with improved latency and illuminated cue point markers as well as the track playback status. The new controller comes hot on the heels of the announcement of two more compact Serato DJ controllers from Akai, also designed for Serato Flip, but those wishing to see the DDJ-SX2 in action can check it out via the video below.

Pioneer will release the DDJ-SX2 in October at a price of EUR 999, with the GBP price to be confirmed.
