Mister Saturday Night announce Brothers And Sisters

MSN

The Brooklyn party-turned-label will release a “summary of their community” in June.

Beginning life back in 2009 in a Brooklyn loft, Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter’s Mister Saturday Night party has grown into an internationally respected affair with community ideals at the fore. Two years ago the pair expanded operations by starting a label of the same name, which has since released records from a number of like-minded artists, most notably Archie Pelago and Anthony Naples, whose Mad Disrespect EP inaugurated the label and perfectly sums up the rough yet soulful nature of Mister Saturday Night’s releases. Harkin and Carter’s ongoing concern for their community was demonstrated earlier this year when they announced plans to commit a percentage of all future profits to a local charitable organisation called The Robin Hood Foundation.

News now arrives that the label is planning to release a various artists collection called Brothers and Sisters; the triple vinyl edition consists entirely of unreleased material whilst the double CD version features some of those exclusives and a number of tracks from the label’s catalogue previously only available on vinyl. In an accompanying press release, the label elect not to describe it as a compilation, rather, like the Mister Saturday Night parties themselves, Brothers and Sisters “is an end-to-end experience”. The label’s full roster to date, which also includes Boya, Lumigraph, Hank Jackson, Dark Sky, and General Ludd, all make an appearance, though L.I.E.S. and Argot artist Gunnar Haslam will also make his label debut on the compilation.

Mister Saturday Night will release Brothers and Sisters on 3LP and 2CD formats on June 23.
