Horse Meat Disco to release fourth compilation on Strut

The Vauxhall institution will compile a fourth selection of contemporary and vintage disco for their first compilation in three years.

Released back in 2009, the original Horse Meat Disco compilation set out to offer home listeners a taste of the long-running Vauxhall-based Sunday night party run by James Hillard, Jim Stanton, Luke Howard and Severino, delivering a selection of classic tracks that showcased the collective’s deep knowledge of rare underground disco. The last compilation, released back in 2011 saw the formula switched up, featuring contemporary originals and edits from DJ Harvey and Todd Terje among others.

The freshly announced Horse Meat Disco: Volume IV will take a similar approach to the last, with disco classics and contemporary productions spread across the two discs, which will come in mixed and unmixed flavours. Several tracks will receive their first ever reissu,e including L’Amour feat. Krystal’s “Let’s Make Love Tonight”, K.S.B.’s “Misaluba” and Rena’s “I Love Your Beat (Play It Again Sam)”, while the newer end of the scale will include a new Horse Meat Disco mix of Joey Negro’s version of T.C. Curtis’ “Candidate For Love”.

2LP, 2CD and digital versions will all be available; all formats will feature extensive sleeve notes while the CD version features a poster featuring the album cover artwork. Those looking to preview to compilation can listen to Opal’s “Ain’t No Way” below.

Strut Records will release Horse Meat Disco: Volume IV on 2LP, 2CD and digital formats on June 16.
