Joey Anderson is After Forever

The New Jersey-based producer’s debut album will arrive on Dekmantel in April.

First appearing on the Strength Music label manned by his good friend DJ Qu, Joey Anderson’s rise has been steady over the past five years, with his name appearing on a number of well-respected US labels such as Jus Ed’s Underground Quality, the Deconstruct Music label run by Levon Vincent and Anthony Parasole, and Amir Alexander’s Annukai Cartel. It was arguably the appearance of two Joey Anderson cuts on Levon’s Fabric 63 that opened the producer’s talents to a wider audience, and the past 12 months have seen him flourish.

It’s pretty hard to single out which of Joey Anderson’s 2013 releases was our favourite, such was the high standard across the board on his contributions to Latency, Avenue 66, Syncrophone, Annukai Cartel and his own Inimeg label. His arrival on Dekmantel with the Fall Off Face 12″ was accompanied by official confirmation the Amsterdam-based label would be issuing his debut album and now full details of the forthcoming long player have emerged.

Due in April, After Forever combines two of the tracks that featured on last year’s Dekmantel bow along with nine all new Anderson productions. After Forever is described by the label as the sort of album “that demands and indeed warrants close inspection,” and one that “really transports you deep into another world far away from here”. A press release goes on to quote Anderson as stating the album is dedicated to his two daughters Akatriel and Auset, whilst claiming he finds it “very difficult to create something for people just to like. I’d rather pay attention to making them get close to the album and uncover the ideas within it.”

Dekmantel will release After Forever by Joey Anderson on April 7, and those eager to hear how it’s shaping up will bask in the chance to stream a 21 minute preview below.
