Torn Hawk is Blindsided
Sink into a cut from that man Luke Wyatt’s forthcoming cassette release due on Not Not Fun.
If last year’s clutch of cross format releases from Luke Wyatt in his various guises for L.I.E.S., Emotional Response, No Pain In Pop, and his own Valcrond Video had us impressed, it seems like 2014 will find the Brooklyn-based visual artist and musician in even more prolific form. A double 7″ release for the Rush Hour No ‘Label’ is in the offing, as is an album for No Pain In Pop under his given name (peep a preview of that here) and he’s added Amanda Brown to his swelling fanbase with her label Not Not Fun preparing to issue theĀ Through Force Of Will cassette next month.
The label suggests a change in outlook for the Torn Hawk project, “flexing his powers for hope not mope” as they frame it, something the chiselled producer hints at himself in a new interview with RBMA. The way the trampled, fuzzed out guitar and languid rhythmic pull oozes out on final track “Blindsided” leaves us thinking the journey towards hope is one Wyatt is still traversing.
