Tuff Sherm enters the Backwoods
Listen to the Australian producer’s contribution to an upcoming cassette compilation from the Where To Now? camp.
Many people – including ourselves – were probably first exposed to the Where To Now? label with Masculinity is a Wonderful Thing, last year’s 12″ shaped slab of familial musique concrète from WANDA GROUP. The Brighton-based label have however been dabbling in cassette releases as far back as 2011, with Helm and Ondness among the artists on their discography, and it now seems they have something interesting in the works in the shape of WHEREIIDANCE.
This new floor focused series launches late next month with an eight-track tape (and high quality download) compilation including contributions from Austin Cesear, Lumigraph, his Irish compatriot Boya and that man Tuff Sherm. The latter’s track “Backwoods” can be streamed in full below, and the eight minutes of scraped metallics and disjointed vocal edits live up to the label’s billing as ‘damaged techno’.
