Steve Murphy next on Lobster Theremin

The Italian producer will grace the London/Berlin imprint next month with the Relax EP.

The distinctively named Lobster Theremin surfaced last year, debuting in fine fashion with the well-received Equation EP by Berlin-based newcomer Palms Trax. Speaking to us as at the time of the announcement, label boss Asquith stated he was “keen to hit the ground running and be getting one a month out through 2014” and that certainly seems to be the case. The delays for the label’s second release from Snow Bone now appear to be clear with his Remote Viewer EP due later this month and Lobster Theremin have now revealed details of their third release.

Despite sounding like a journeyman midfielder from the lower leagues of British football, Steve Murphy (pictured above) is in fact the alias of Venetian Mattia Effe, a key cog in the sprawling Italian hardware enthusiasts scene alongside the Restoration crew and The Analogue Cops. First surfacing under the Steve Murphy & Co. guise with a Chiwax release in 2011, Effe has gone on to record an LP with compatriots Die Roh and launch the Muscle Records imprint alongside Analogue Copper Lucretio, Chevel, and DJ Octopus. The forthcoming Relax EP sees Murphy drop four rough and ready productions with each side closed out by a “Tentacles Loop” locked groove from DJ Octopus – you can stream clips of the release below and pre-order here.
