Blackest Ever Black introduce Shampoo Boy

Blackest Ever Black have announced details of their next foray into the musical ether, with the debut album from Vienna-based guitar, bass and electronics trio Shampoo Boy.

Shampoo Boy consists of Christina Nemec, Christian Schachinger and Edition Mego boss Peter Rehberg, and is just the latest collaborative project between the latter two who have been working together for some 25 years, most recently under the Peterlicker name which has seen two releases on Editions Mego.

The trio’s debut release, entitled Licht, is comprised of four improvisations recorded and mixed between April 2012 and January 2013 which all fit squarely with the uncompromising BEB aesthetic. Combining elements of chamber music with noise and drone, a preview of the release can be streamed below; the metallic string wails of “Loch” are particularly reminiscent of Raime’s recent album, the savage bass drone and searing feedback of “Fall” call to mind a combination of Yellow Swans and Sunn O))), while the cavernous guitar of “Gift” is a ringer for the work of Earth.

Blackest Ever Black will release Licht by Shampoo Boy on LP in May.
