Ossie returns with Supercali EP

The second release from 2020 Midnight Visions, the new label project set up by 2020 Visions and Somethinksounds, sees the welcome return of young London producer Ossie.

Entitled Supercali, the four track EP is Ossie’s first solo material since his excellent debut for Hyperdub last year, with the producer stating in an interview with us last September he was focusing on completing his studies before releasing anymore music. In that interview Ossie professed an interest for working with vocalists, which has come to fruition via the formation of Black Orange Juice, a group for whom he produces and who released their debut EP Back of My Car on Somethinksounds earlier this year.

Paul Black and Orial from Black Orange Juice both feature on the Supercali EP, providing vocals for the title track and the string heavy 2 step swagger of “Lovecrazy”, while Ossie continues to experiment with classic house music tropes on “Housedabass”. The EP matches the standards set by 2020 Midnight Visions on thier debut release from Photomachine (that Funkineven remix) and we hear whispers that Ossie will be returning to Hyperdub with new material later in the year.

2020 Midnight Visions will release Supercali by Ossie on July 9.
