Squarepusher announces new album and live show

Warp Records have just released the first tantalising morsels of information regarding the new album from Squarepusher, entitled Ufabulum, with a live show to accompany it.

Currently there’s very little to go on, apart from a quote from the producer (real name Tom Jenkinson) that states: “I’ve started thinking about pure electronic music again. Something very melodic, very aggressive”. Given that his last album, Shobaleader One divided opinion somewhat with its lighter, almost Gallic approach (particularly with its distorted bass guitar sound), it perhaps suggests a return to the precise, hard-edged feel of his earlier output.

Warp have released a short teaser video which would seem to support this, featuring Jenkinson in terrifying LED helmet get-up:

According to Warp, Jenkinson will perform Ulabulum live in New York, Tokyo, Sao Paolo, Barcelona and London, with his UK show taking place as part of this year’s Bloc festival over 6-7 June.

Ufabulum will be released through Warp Records on 14/15 May 2012.
