Having recently revealed their new home on docklands space deep in East London, the organizers behind the Bloc Festival today added further spice with the first round of line-up details which truly straddles the electronic spectrum.
Veteran UK dance act Orbital are perhaps the most established names revealed thus far, sharing the largest font space with slightly rubbery looking “synth pop outsider” Gary Numan and Brainfeeder boss Flying Lotus. Ricardo Villalobos will have to contend with the confusion of being in London but not sweating out the DJ booth of Fabric’s main room, whilst Detroit heavyweights Jeff Mills and Carl Craig are further big draws – with the latter seemingly performing 69 material live in a manner similar to last year at Field Day.
The Warp Records stable hold a sizable presence on the announcement with Battles, Squarepusher and Clark all confirmed whilst festival favourites such Apparat, Four Tet and Martyn are also present. Intrigue is provided by the presence of ATOL, the new all star DJ tag team formed of Modeselektor, Marcel Dettmann and Matt Berry lookalike Shed, and there are plenty of other interesting bookings to boot from Actress through to Sandwell District.
Bloc Weekend will take place on July 6-7 at London Pleasure Gardens. Further venue details and ticketing information can be found on the Bloc website. We will of course endeavour to keep you updated with further line-up announcements.
