FabricLive 57: Jackmaster details in full

On a day when Fabric mischievously announced plans to enter the energy beverages market, the Farringdon behemoth has also revealed the full details for the 57th installment of their FabricLive mix series undertaken by Numbers don Jackmaster.

Jackmaster stands alongside Hessle Audio’s Ben UFO and not that many others in today’s electronic music climate as a proper DJ – not a producer who also DJs – and he has the skills and knowledge to match. Responsible for A & R for the Numbers imprint it’s fair to say Jack gets club tracks months in advance of release – he was playing “A Tender Place” by Bakey USTL long before anyone else – yet his passion for music, sparked by hearing Model 500’s “The Chase” whilst mopping the floor at Glasgow’s Rubadub record shop, means his DJ sets are peppered with classics of the recognisable and forgotten variety.

In an age where DJs seem content to play whatever promos arrived in their inbox that week, such an approach sets him apart. Naturally this is represented in Jackmaster’s Fabric mix with a tracklist that includes recent bumps from Martyn, Sinden & SBTRKT and Addison Groove. However these are engulfed by a swathe of classics that span the genres with music from the likes of Tommy Bangalter, Aphex Twin, some rare Wookie remix action and the timeless strains of Inner City and ends on everyone’s favourite Radiohead track. Running at 29 tracks in 70 minutes it’s representative of a Jackmaster set; fast, frenetic and likely to make you sweat.

Fabric will release FabricLive 57 mixed by Jackmaster on May 16.
