Ninja Tune prep Floating Points Ensemble 10″

Ninja Tune are offering those not fortunate enough to have grabbed their recent XX box set a further chance to enjoy the exclusive Floating Points Ensemble material featured with the release of the two tracks on a double A side 10 inch.

The Ensemble lead by Floating Points aka Eglo co founder and classically trained musician Sam Shepeard was first premiered at London venue The Roundhouse in May 2009, and the 16 piece group later performed a celebrated Maida Vale session for Worldwide presenter Gilles Peterson. This persuaded Ninja Tune to invite Shepeard and the group to undergo a week of recording at the illustrious Abbey Road studios as part of the label’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

The two tracks “Post Suite” and “Almost In Profile”  which featured on the box set were both sumptuous arrangements rich with strings, percussion and rhodes flourishes and complemented by the soothing tones of long term Eglo associate Fatima. Due to the limited and admittedly costly nature of the box set, Ninja Tune have opted to give the tracks their own additional glory in the form of a 10 inch which will be released on Monday December 13.
