Diplo: My Life

Diplo offers some interesting and lucid insights into his relentless touring schedule in this nicely shot black and white documentary by film maker Wing-Yee Yo.

“We’re still very broke but, eh, we’re a lot cooler than anybody else,” says the Major Lazer man of his Mad Decent imprint as the film crew follow him around Philadelphia.

“I didn’t really plan on doing this, travelling, making music and recording in different places, it just happened.”

The DJ/producer/label boss, real name Wesley Pent, talks about his Mississippi upbringing and his jobs (which included working at a zoo and as a school teacher) before his music career went stratospheric.

There’s also some nice footage of the annual Mad Decent Philadelphia block party.
