Aphex-mentored Eel label teases ‘men an toll’ compilation, full of fresh Cornish IDM talent
Falmouth’s finest Eel teases new comp by streaming ‘Quicksand’
Eel – the Falmouth, Cornwall based IDM label who have, in recent years, set the town’s electronica scene alight – have announced the release of their second V/A compilation, men an toll.
One new single will be released per week, until the compilation’s full release in March. Annie Eel (pictured), a mentee of Aphex Twin, heads up its announcement with the first single release this week: her own breakneck drill n’ bass single ‘Quicksand’. Hear it here:
Eel describes the compilation as a comprehensive, locally-sourced collection of music inspired by Cornwall and its surrounding ecosystems, be they cliff-faces, caves, standing stones, or club nights. It is named after the Neolithic Cornish standing stones known as Mên-an-Tol, venerated in local legend for their magical properties.
